Input sensitivity is variable from200 Millivolts to 8 volts. Clockwise increases sensitivity. Counterclockwise decreasessensitivity. The amplifier can be driven to full power with a wide range of signal levels.A lower signal level will require increased sensitivity for full power. A higher signal levelwill require decreased sensitivity. Av oid setting sensitivity lower than necessary as this would introduce unwanted distortion. This control is used to set the desired low pass frequency (50 ~ 150HZ).The filter acts to cut-off frequencies above the set-point. In general, the selectedfrequency should closely match the resonant frequency of the speaker box.By using the bass boost function, bass notes at 35Hz - 80Hz are emphasized as much as 18dB.PHASE SHIFT SWITCH (0 AND 180 DEGREES):Allows you to change the phase of your subwoofer from 0 to 180 degrees to helpcompensate for timing differences between drivers.6Variable Subsonic Filter (15Hz - 40Hz) :The Subsonic filter will roll off all of the unwanted frequencies below 15Hz - 40Hz.This will allow the amplifier to use that wasted power on the audible bandwidth. These inputs are for signal cables from the source. Always use high quality shieldedRCA cables.the first amplifier, then using the line out RCA jacks as the feed to the next amplifier.Adjust the crossover for your chosen installation method.LOW: Low pass filter-only bass tones(50Hz-150Hz)go to speakers. Use with woofer or sub-woofer . FULL: No filter-all tones go to speakers. Use with full-range speakers, or with external crossovers. HIGH: High pass filter-blocks very low tones(50Hz-600Hz)from the speakers.CH4Due to the power requirements of the Amplifier, this connection should be made directly to the positive(+) terminal of battery. For safety measure, install an in-line fuse Holder (not included) as close to the battery positive(+) terminal as possible with an ampere rating ; not to exceed total value of fuses in Amp.PWR(Power): This GREEN LED will illuminate when the amplifier is turned "ON".If it fails to illuminate, check the power connections to the Amplifier and fuses.PROT(Protection): The amplifier protection circuitry will disable the amplifier if input overload, short circuit or extremely high temperature conditions are detected. When the protection mode is in operation, the LED indicator on the side panel will be illuminated, indicating the amplifier has gone into a self-preservation mode.If you observe that the Protection LED is lit, please check the system carefully to determine what has caused the protection circuit to engage. The amplifier can be reset by turning the remote power off and then on again. If the amplifier shut down due to a thermal overload condition, please allow it to cool down before restarting. If the amplifier shut down becauseof an input overload or short circuit, be sure to repair these conditions before attempting to power up the amplifier again.Controls & FunctionsThe mounting position of your Amplifier will have a great effect on its ability to dissipate the heat generated during normal operation.Under normal conditions, the heatsink will dissipate sufficient heat to avoid thermal shutdown. However please do not install the amplifier in a wooden box or similar device as this will prevent heat dissipation into the atmosphere.Temperatures in car trunks have been measured as high as (155'F) in the summer time. since the thermal shut-down point for the amplifier is (158'F) it is easy to see that it must be mounted for maximum cooling capability. To achievemaximum advantage of convection air flow in an enclosed trunk, mount the amplifier in a horizontal position.Cooling requirements are considerably relaxed when mounting inside the passenger compartment since the driver will not often allow temperatures to reach a critical point. Floor mounting under the seat is usually satisfactory as long as there is at least1 inch of clearance (2.54 cm) above the Amplifier's fins for ventilation.A. Select a suitable location that is convenient for mounting, is accessible for wiring. And has ample room for air circulation and cooling.B. Use the amplifier as a template to mark the mounting holes. Remove the Amplifier and drill holes. Use extreme caution, inspect underneath surface before drilling!C. Secure the Amplifier using the screws provided.Mono modeTri modeTuning on the AmplifierAdjusting The Audio LevelThe amplifier automatically turns on a few seconds after you turn your vehicle's ignition switch to ACC or ON or turn on your auto sound system, depending on how you wired the system. The Eris XT studio monitors provide a choice of three line-level input types: balanced XLR, balanced ¼” TRS, and unbalanced RCA. Do not connect more than one source to your Eris XT studio monitors simultaneously. Power User Tip: Whenever possible, it is recommended that you utilized the balanced line-level inputs on your Eris XT studio monitors. Balanced cables and connections are resistant to induced noise from radio frequencies and electromagnetic interference (RMI and EMI). If your audio source has only unbalanced connections (either ¼” TS or RCA), it isPower Switch. This is the On/Off switch for your Eris XT studio monitor. When yourEris XT studio monitor is powered On, the blue LED on the front panel will illuminate.AC Select Switch. The input-power voltage is set at the factory to correspond withthe country to which the Eris XT studio monitor was shipped. Use this switch only ifPower User Tip: The High control on the Eris XT studio monitors is a high-shelf EQ and raises or lowers all frequencies above 10 kHz. This EQ is much like the treble control on a car stereo and likewise can make big changes to the sound very quickly. If you find yourPower User Tip: If you are using a subwoofer that doesn’t feature a variable low pass filter, like the PreSonus Temblor T10 provides, you will use this control to set the crossover point for your 2.1 system. For more informationon studio monitor placement, please review Section 3.1.2.2 Hookup DiagramsBasic Setup2.2.12.2.2 Advanced Setup with Monitor Controller and Speaker SwitchingSceptre S6Eris E5XT3 Application Guide3.1 Monitor Placement and Acoustic Space Settings Eris XT-Series E5XT / E8XTOwner’s Manual33.1 Monitor Placement and Acoustic Space SettingsBefore placing your studio monitors in your mixing environment, position yourdesk or monitor stands so that your speakers will be at least 8 to 12 inchesaway from walls and corners. This will be adequate to prevent sound wavesfrom hitting the wall and reflecting back to you, causing phase cancellationand other potentially harmful acoustic interactions. This might not always bepossible, and there are some ways to mitigate cramped mixing spaces. When a monitor is placed close to a wall, or in a corner, the low frequenciestend to be emphasized more than if the monitor is some distance away fromany room boundary. Commonly referred to as “boundary bass boost,” it ismost pronounced if the monitor is in a corner and less pronounced, but stillpresent, if the monitor is near one wall. While an increased bass responsemay be desirable in a listening environment, for studio mixing this cancause mixing to sound too bright when played on consumer stereo systemsbecause the audio engineer will instinctively reduce the bass content inthe mix to counterbalance for what they are hearing in the studio. To compensate for this phenomenon, every PreSonus studiomonitor is equipped with an Acoustic Space control that cutsall frequencies below 800 Hz by a specified amount:•If your Eris XT studio monitors are close to the corners ofthe room, start by setting the Acoustic Space switch to -4dB. This will provide the most bass attenuation.•When Eris XT studio monitors are placed closer to theback wall, set the Acoustic space switch to -2 dB.•If your mix environment affords enough space for your studio monitorsto be placed away from the room’s boundaries, leave the AcousticSpace switch at 0 dB as no bass attenuation should be necessary.3 Application Guide3.1 Monitor Placement and Acoustic Space Settings Eris XT-Series E5XT / E8XTOwner’s Manualthis will provide a more balanced listening position. Place your speakers so that they are the same distance from the sides of the room. That is, if yourleft speaker is six feet from the wall to the left and two feet from the wall behind, your right speaker should be six feet from the wall to the right and two feet from the wall behind. By centering your mix position, your monitor system will provide more reliable low-frequency intelligibility. In a rectangular room, it is best to set up along one of the long walls, especially in a smaller room. This will minimize problems caused by side wall reflections.Just like it’s not a good idea to set up your mix position in a corner, it’s not a good idea to create a corner with your mix position. Make sure the distance from the speaker to the wall behind it is different than the distance fromthe side wall closest to it. For example, if your left speaker is one foot from the wall to its left, it shouldn’t also be one foot from the wall behind it.The Eris XT’s focused EBM waveguide design ensures wider horizontal coverage with a tight vertical dispersion that helps to limit early reflections from your desk or console. Unlike other Eris monitors thatcan be placed horizontally or vertically, this design requires that theEris XT monitors always be placed in their vertical orientation.Whenever people talk about listening to speaker systems, theytalk about the “sweet spot.” As mentioned earlier, this is the middleposition between the two sides of a stereo system, where the speakers overlap, and it is where the stereo image will be the best.Creating the sweet spot is relatively easy. Simply angle, or “toe-in,” eachspeaker so that the tweeters form an equilateral triangle with yourhead—that is, the speakers are the same distance from each other asthey are from you. The monitors should be angled, or “toed in,” so thatthey are each directed to an ear, rather than pointed straight ahead. The main purpose of speaker calibration is to ensure that a specific metered audio level in your DAW or on your mixer equals a predetermined SPL in your studio environment. Depending upon the method and reference levels used during calibration, proper calibration can help reduce unwanted noise, minimize the risk of damage to your studio monitors and to your ears, maximize the reference capabilities of different speaker types, and ensure you hear the audio as accurately as possible. When calibrating reference monitors in a studio, the acoustic level orsound pressure level (SPL) should be measured from the mix position atseated ear height. There are an assortment of great SPL metering appson the market for smartphones, and many are free! You can also findaccurate SPL meters at your favorite local electronics-supply store. The SPL meter should be held at arm’s length, with the microphone pointed atthe center point between the left and right speakers (where your head will be), angled at 45 degrees to ensure an accurate reading. If your SPL meter is also your cell phone, make sure your finger or cell phone case isn’t covering the mic!You should calibrate the right and left monitors independently to ensure that both monitors are set to the same acoustic level. This will ensure that your stereo mixes are balanced and will translate well across different speaker systems. The goal of this Standard Reference Calibration is to ensure that when the output meters in your DAW or mixer register 0 dB, the SPL at your mix position is 85 dB. 1. Connect the main outputs of your audio source to your studio monitors.dB instead. The important thing is that both speakers are set to the same SPL level, not the level itself.4 Resourc es4.1 Technical Specifications Eris XT-Series E5XT / E8XTOwner’s Manual44.1 Technical SpecificationsInputs 1- Balanced XLR1- Balanced ¼” TRS1- Unbalanced RCA Performance E5XT E8XT Frequency Response 48 Hz to 20 kHz 35 Hz to 20 kHz Crossover Frequency 3 kHz 2.2 kHz LF Amplifier Power 45W 75W HF Amplifier Power 35W 65W Peak SPL (@ 1 meter) 102 dB 105 dB LF Driver 5.25” 8”HF Driver 1” Silk Dome 1.25”User ControlsVolume Range A-Type TaperMF Control -6 to +6 dBHF Control -6 to +6 dBLow Cut Flat, 80 Hz, 100 HzAcoustic Space Flat, -2 dB, -4 dBProtection RF interferenceOutput-current limitingO ver-temperatureTurn-on/off transientSubsonic filterExternal mains fusePower 100-120V ~50/60 Hz or 220-240V ~50/60 Hz Cabinet Vinyl-laminated, medium-density fiberboard PhysicalWidth 8” (203 mm) 9.75” (248 mm) Depth 9” (229 mm) 11.5” (292 mm) Height 11” (279 mm) 16” (406 mm) Weight 11 lbs (5 kg) 23 lbs (10.4 kg)4 Resourc es4.2 Troubleshooting Eris XT-Series E5XT / E8XTOwner’s Manual4.2 TroubleshootingNo Power. First ensure that your Eris XT studio monitor is plugged in. Ifit’s connected to a power conditioner, verify that the power conditioneris turned on and functioning. If problem still exists, disconnect the powercable from your studio monitor and check the fuse on the back panel. The fuse housing is located directly beneath the IEC power cable connection. Ablown fuse may look black on the inside or the wire inside might appear broken.A very black fuse is a sign that something may have shorted out. Try replacingthe fuse with a new one. The E5XT uses a T1L fuse. The Eris E8XT uses a T2Lfuse. If the fuse blows again, you will need to contact PreSonus for a repair. No audio. If your Eris XT studio monitor appears to power on but youhear no sound when playing audio from your audio source (the lights areon but nobody’s home), first make sure that the cable connecting youraudio source to the monitor is working correctly. Also, verify that theInput Gain control is set to provide enough amplitude for the signal.Hum. Usually, hum is caused by a ground loop. Verify that all audio equipment isconnected to the same power source. If you are not using a power conditioner,we highly recommend that you add one. Not only will this help to minimizehum, it will better protect your equipment from power surges, brownouts, etc.Use balanced cables whenever possible. If your audio device does not offera balanced output, you can connect it to a direct box, which will provide aground-lift switch and a balanced output. Finally, make sure that your audiocables are not run near power cables, and use cables that are the appropriatelength for your application. Using cables that are too long not only increasesthe risk of noise, it increases the likelihood that the cables are coiled, which willessentially create an antenna that picks up all kinds of audio interference.© 2019 PreSonus Audio Electronics, Inc. Production: Audio Codec Customer/Company/Project : All Subject/Problem Question: Speaker Configuration Difference between Realtek Standard and Dolby®/DTS® driver
Handler/Issuer
Issued by: Evan Wang ; E-Mail: evanw@ TEL: (03)5780211 Ext: 3704
Description/Reason:
Description:
When speaker configuration was set to 5.1 mode, Realtek standard driver represented speakers located at Front Left/Right, Center/Lfe and Rear Left/Right positions. But Realtek Dolby/DTS driver represented speakers located at Front Left/Right, Center/Lfe and Side Left/Right positions.
Reason:
When Realtek announced first multi-channel audio codec, we decided to follow Microsoft’s speaker configuration definitions. According to Microsoft’s definition at that time, the 5.1 channel mode speakers are located at Front Left/Right, Center/Lfe and Rear Left/Right positions; the 4 channel mode speakers are located at Front Left/Right and Rear Left/Right positions. We use the same definitions for all of Realtek multi-channel audio codec until now within our standard driver .
瑞昱半導體股份有限公司
When Realtek started to develop Dolby/DTS driver, Dolby and DTS request Realtek to follow the speaker configuration of CE products. That is, for 5.1 mode, the speakers are located at Front

For backward compatibility, we decided to keep the same definition for our standard driver to use original Microsoft’s 5.1 speaker configuration. Only Dolby/DTS driver use the new definition as CE products. The similar difference is also applied to 4 speakers mode.
To reduce the hardware design effort, Realtek driver will automatically change its behavior according to Dolby/DTS feature is enabled or not. From hardware point of view, customers only need to design one circuit for both of Dolby/DTS and non-Dolby/DTS products. End-users just need to connect its speakers according to the information shown in Realtek Control Panel.
