We have just moved into a new house and I have been working hard all
morning. I have been trying to get my new room in order. This has not
been easy because I own over a thousand books. To make matters
worse ， the room is rather small ， so
I have temporarily put my books on the floor. At the moment ，
they cover every inch of floor space and I actually have to walk on them
to get in or out of the room. A short while ago my sister helped me to
carry one of my old bookcases up the stairs. She went into my room and
got a big surprise when she saw all those books on the floor. 'This is the
prettiest carpet I have ever seen ，' she said. She gazed at it for some
time thenadded ， 'You don't need bookcases at all. You can sit here in
your spare time and read the carpet!'

一、 词汇
1、 temporarily：adv.暂时地，临时地
temporary：adj.暂时的，临时的
反义词
permanent：永久的；永恒的
2、 inch：n. 英寸（度量单位） 复数形式 inches
foot：n. 英尺；脚 on foot 步行 1foot=12inches=30.48cm
古时候英国把一个成年男子脚的长度作为度量标准，所以用foot表示英尺。
every inch: 彻底；完全
give sb an inch and he’ll take a mile （谚语）得寸进尺 mile是一英里
3、space：n.空间 是不可数名词
Eg：The table takes up too much space. 占据（时间、地点）；开始从事
4、actually：adv.实际上，事实上 Actually speaking,实际上来说
actual：adj.实际上，真实的 His actual age is 45，not 25.
二、 课文语言点：
1、 第一句中的working hard中的hard是副词，解释为“努力地”，把书翻到P246页，详见Special difficulties.
adj adv的规律：
1）、一般后加ly. Careless粗心的 carelessly
2）、以y结尾的形容词 easy easily
3）、以ly结尾，但却是adj，不能直接来修饰动词：friendly：友好的；lively：生动的，活泼的；lonely：孤单的；likely：很可能的

一、阅读课文
