Rachel Carson （1907-1964）was a pioneer of the world ’s environmental movement through her writing about the protection of the natural world. Her 1962 book Silent Spring made her well known by many people. It describes the harmful changes in the environment of using toxic （有害的）chemicals on farmland.

28 武汉生物工程学院教务处二○○八年十二月二十九日第十八周教学工作例会会议纪要 2008年12月29日上午，第十八周教学工作例会在行政楼一号会议室召开。会议首先由教务处王亚静副处长汇报出国学习情况、通报了教育教学督导室第16～17周听课情况、参加国家（省、市）级竞赛学生获奖情况、科研处近期工作情况通报以及讨论和布置其他教育教学工作。会议由院长邓宗琦教授主持。院长助理朱祖襄、院务委员余泽高、教务处、教育教学督导室、实验设备管理处、图书馆、现代教育技术中心以及各系（部）等部门主要负责人参加了会议。会议主要内容纪要如下： 一、教务处王亚静副处长汇报出国学习情况 2008年12月3日至23日，教务处王亚静副处长受学校委派，在德国进行了为期21天的培训学习。期间，对德国的职业教育进行了调查，调查基本情况总结如下。
