2014高考英语阅读理解精英定时系列训练题(10)及答案【湖北省荆州市2013质量检查(II)】(B)Teachers say the digital age has had a good influence — and a not-so-good influence — on this generation of American teenagers. More than 2,000 middle and high school teachers took an online survey. Researchers also spoke with teachers in focus groups. Three-quarters of the teachers said the Internet and digital search tools have had a “mostly positive” effect on their students’ research habits and skills. But 87 percent agreed that these technologies are cre ating an “easily distracted(分心的)generation” . And 64 percent said the technologies “do more to dis tract students than to help them academically. ” Many students think doing research now means just doing a quick search on Google. The Pew Internet Project did the survey with the College Board and the National Writing Project. A majority of the teachers came from Advanced Placement classes, which provide college-level work for high school students.Judy Buchanan is director of the National Writing Project and a co-author of the report. Ms.Buchanan says digital research tools are helping students learn more, and learn faster. “Teachers really like these tools because they are ways to make some of learning exciting and engaging. Young people like these tools. And the goal is to really help them become creators of content, and meaningful content, and not just sort of consumers. ”But one problem the survey found is that many students are lacking in digital literacy. In other words, they trust too much of the information they find on the Internet. Judy Buchanan says these students have not developed the skills they need to judge the quality of online information.“It’s just a lot to learn about how to distinguish authentic sources. And it’ s something that really has to be taught and paid attenti on to. It’s like everything else — in a world in which things can happen quickly, you really do need to havea way to step back ,reflect and analyze the information you have. And teachers can do a lot to teach that.,Another problem the survey found is blamed on something that might not seem like a problem at all : being able to quickly find information online. Teachers say the result is a reduction in the desire and ability of their students to work hard to find answers. They say students are overly dependent on search engines and do not make enough use of printed books or research librarians. Many teachers are also concerned that the Internet makes it easy for students to copy work done by others instead of using their own abilities.55.Most teachers who took the online survey thought the internet tools help students in_______.A. becoming more independentB. being more serious in studyC. doing a quick search on GoogleD. developing their research ability56.According to Ms. Buchanan, the survey aims_______.A. to help students become more creativeB. to draw students attention away from the internetC. to make people learn the benefits of the internet toolsD. to persuade students to use traditional ways of research57. According to the researchers, which of the following do students lack when facing the internet?A. The ability of doing research online.B. The interest in using the internet tools.C.The skills of judging online information.D.The methods of obtaining online information.58.Which of the following is the disadvantage of the internet tools?A.Offering little useful information.B. Twenty-one years later I am still a bright-eyed dreamer and one with quite a different tale to tell.My grandma, an amazing woman, graduated from college at the age of65. She was the first in our family to reach that goal. But one year afterI started college, she developed cancer. I made the choice to leave college to care for her. It meant that school and my personal dream would have to wait. Then I got married with another dream: building my family with a combination of adopt and biological children. " I once shared this sentence with a class of seventh graders, and it didn't seem to require any explanation. We’d just finished John Steinbeck's novel Of Mice and Men. When we read the end together out loud in class, my toughest boy, a star basketball player, wept a little, and so did I. "Are you crying?" one girl asked, as she got out of her chair to take a closer look. "I am,"I told her, "and the funny thing is I've read it many times. "But they understood. When George shoots Lennie, the tragedy is that we realize it was always going to happen. In my 14 years of teaching in a New York City public middle school, I've taught kids with imprisoned parents, abusive parents, irresponsible parents; kids who are parentsAlong with Of Mice and Men, my groups read: Sounder, The Red Pony, Lord of the Flies, Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth. The students didn't always read from the expected point of view. About The Red Pony, one student said, "it’s about being a man, it’s about manline ss. " I had never before seen the parallels between Scarface and Macbeth, nor had I heard Lady Macbeth's soliloquies (独白)read as raps (说唱) , but both made sense; the interpretations were playful, but serious. Once introduced to Steinbeck's writing, one boy went on to read The Grapes of Wrath and toldme repeatedly how amazing it was that "all these people hate each other, and they're all white. " His historical view was broadening, his sense of his own country deepening. Year after year former students visited and told me how prepared they had felt in their first year in college as a result of the classes.Year after year, however, we are increasing the number of practice tests. We are trying to teach students to read increasingly complex texts, not for emotional punch (碰撞) but for text complexity. Yet, we cannot enrich (充实) the minds of our students by testing them on texts that ignore their hearts. We are teaching them that words do no. amaze but confuse. We mav succeed in raising test scores, but we will fail to teach that reading can be transformative and that it belongs to them.66. Most typical history courses concentrate on politics, economics, and wars. But art history focuses on much more than this because art reflects not only the political values of a people, but also activities of our ancestors–or of people very different from our own–can be provided by art. In short, art expresses the essential qualities of a time and a place. And study of it clearly offers us a deeper understanding than what can be found in most history books. In history books, objective information about the political life of a country is presented: that is, facts about politics are given, but opinions are not expressed. Art, on the other hand, is subjective: it reflects emotions and opinions. The great Spanish painter Francisco Goya was perhaps the first truly political artist. In his well-known painting The Truth of May, 1808, he criticized the Spanish government for its misuse of power over people. Over a hundred years later, symbolic images were used in Pablo Picasso’s Guernica to express the horror of war. Meanwhile, on another continent, the powerful paintings of Diego Rivera, Jose Clements Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros–as well as the works of Alfredo Ramos Martinez–depicted these Mexican artists’ deep anger an d sadness about social problems. In the same way, art can reflect a culture’s religious beliefs. For hundreds of years in Europe, religious art was almost the only types of art that existed. Churches and other religious buildings were filled with paintings that depicted people and stories from the Bible. Although most people could not read, they could still understand biblical stories in the pictures on the church walls. By contrast, one of the main characteristics of art in the Middle East was (and still is) its absence of human and animal images. This reflects the Islamic belief that statues are unholy.72. Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage?A. The way art expresses is the same all over the world.B. Art history supplies us with knowledge about everyday activities of people inthe past.C. Most typical history courses don’t cover people’s spirits.D. Art is subjective in that it will find a ready echo in our hearts.73. Which of the following statements is true according to the passage?A. Unlike Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso and several Mexican artists expressed theirpolitical opinions in their paintings.B. History books often show the editors’ political view.C. Religious art remained in Europe for centuries the only type of art because mostpeople regarded the Bible as the Holy Book.D. Picasso was something of a political artist.74. The passage is mainly discussing ______.A. the difference between general history and art historyB. the making of art historyC. what we can learn from art historyD. the influence of artists on art history75. It may be concluded from this passage that ______.A. Islamic artists have had to create architectural decoration with pictures offlowers or geometric (几何的) formsB. history teachers are more objective than artistsC. it is more difficult to study art history than general historyD. people and stories from the Bible were painted on churches and other buildingsin order to popularize the Bible.参考答案 72—75 ADCA重庆市万州二中高三上期中期考试三、阅读理解(共20小题;每小题2分,满分40分)请阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该选项的标号涂黑。
武汉市2014高考英语阅读理解训练题(19)附答案My mother moved a lot when she was growing up on account of Grandpa being in the army. She hated having to adjust to new schools and make new friends. That’s why I thought she was joking when she put forward the idea of moving. But she was completely serious. “For just the two of us,” my mother said, “an apartment in the city will suit our needs much better.” Personally, I think she lost her mind.I guess I can understand why she would want to move, but what about me and what this house means to me?I suppose if you looked at my house, you might think it was just another country house. But to me it is anything but standard.I moved into this house with my parents ten years ago. I can still remember that first day like it was yesterday. The first thing I noticed was the big front yard.To me it seemed like an ocean of grass—couldn’t wait to dive in.The backyard was full of gnarled(扭曲的,粗糙的)and scary trees that talked on windy nights. But I grew to like them and the shadows they cast in my room.My father and I even built a small tree house, where I often go to remember all the wonderful time we had before Father’s death. This house is special—maybe only to me—but special nevertheless. It’s the little seemingly insignificant things that make thi s house so special to me; the ice-cold tile floors that make me tremble on midnight snake runs; the smell of my fathers pipe that still exists;the towering bookcases of my mother;the view outside my bedroom window. This house bears too many memories, memories which would be lost if we gave it up。

This is a good rule to follow when you try to judge the cleverness of others by their looks and performance. Some people have minds that shine only in certain situations. A young man with an unusual gift in novel writing may find himself speechless before a prettygirl. But don’t make the mistake of thinking he might not be that clever. With a pen and paper, he can tell what he thought very well.Other people may fool you into mistakenly thinking they are clever by putting up a good front.A student who listens carefully and takes notes in class is sure to make a good impression on his teachers. But when it comes to exams, he may get scores much lower than his classmates. We may conclude that: you can’t judge someone by appearances. The only way to tell whether a person is clever or not is to get to know him by observing(观察) how he reacts to different situations. The more situations you observe, the more accurate your judgment is likely to be. So take your time. Don’t judge the book by its cover.71 The best title for this passage is ______________.A. He clicked on the flashlight. They walked down the hill toward the lake in the narrow beam of light. The only thing Alex could see was the circle of weeds and rocks at their feet, lit by the flashlight. Insect voices filled his ears---clicks, hums, buzzes, whines. Hundreds of bugs waited in the darkness to attack. “Ow!” he blurted as he felt a sting on his arm. “Mosquitoes,” Dad said. “I have brought some spray (喷雾) to keep them off.”When they reached the boat, Alex stumbled as he climbed over the side. “I don’t like this much,” he said. “It’s so dark.” Dad squeezed his shoulder. “Don’t worry. It’s not as dark as you think. After a while your eyes will get used to the nigh t.” Suddenly something rushed past Alex’s head. He gasped. “What was that?” “Probably a bat,” Dad said. How could Dad act as if it were nothing! “Will bats be flying around our heads the whole time?” “This is their time to be out catching insects,” Dad explained. “They won’t hurt you. They’re too busy grabbing dinner.” He pushed the boat off the gravel (沙砾) and jumped in. Alex gazed back at the cabin.A square of light from the window glowed in the darkness.Dad rowed to the middle of the lake and stopped. “We’ll just let the boat drift. Keep the flashlight in the bottom of the boat. The fish won’t bite if they see light flashing around. When we’ve done baiting our hooks(鱼钩), we’ll turn the light off.” Leaning down to get closer to the light, Alex tried to thread a worm on his hook, but he couldn’t seem to work his fingers right. So what if the worm was only partly on the hook? He didn’t want to fish anyway. He didn’t even want to be there.56. Whom did Alex go fishing with?A. No one.B. His motherC. His parentsD. His father57. With a bit of creativity, you can help your child enjoy reading more, and encourage him to do more!Buy or borrow a lot of “fun” books. Choose books that are slightly below his level of reading ability. Don’t for get what your child likes to do when choosing books for him. Don’t comment about the books. Simply leave the books lying on the table where your child is sure to see them. Computer games are not as harmful as most parents usually think them to be. Instead, you should take advantage of your child’s love of computer games to purchase those that require a lot of reading and avoid those that are simply computerized video games.Buy your child a bedside reading lamp, or a tiny book light. Tell him that from now on, he must be in bed by a specific time (say 8:30) and that he can either sleep or read. Most kids will do anything else rather than go to sleep, so there’s a chance you’ll create a new bedtime reading habit. Many children will read when they are sitting alone having a snack, or when they have a few minutes of unplanned free time. Put a box of books and magazines near thekitchen table so that reading material is accessible.Often, once children learn to read independently, parents stop reading to them. This change of routine causes great sadness to a child who has come to love falling asleep as you read. Even a teenager will enjoy being read to if you pick books that interest him. Select books together, and make sure they’re ones you enjoy as well, so your enjoyment will come through as you read to them.50. To make children become interested in reading, parents should _______.A. tell them what they can learn from these booksB. choose books based on their interestC. choose the easiest books for them to readD. always read books together with them51. A“Ten pence for a view over the bay,”said the old man with the telescope. “Lovely clear morning, have a look at the old lighthouse and the remains of the great shipwreck(遇难船)of 1935.”Ten pence was absolute robbery, but the view was certainly magnificent. Cliffs(悬崖) stretched into the distance, shining waves beaten severely by the wind were unrolling on to the beach, and a few yachts(游艇), with creamy-white sails, were turning sharply and making a sudden movement gracefully on the sea. Just below, a flock of seagulls screaming at one another as they twisted and flew smoothly over the water. A mile out to sea, the old lighthouse stood on a stone platform on the rocks, which were being greedily licked(轻拍)by the waves. In no way indeed did I grudge my money. As I directed the telescope towards the lighthouse, the man beside me tapped my wrist.“Have you heard about the terrible tragedy that occurred there in that lighthouse?”he asked in a whisper.“I imagine there may be plenty of legends attached to such a dramatic-looking place,”I suggested.“It’s no legend(传奇),” declared the old man.” My father knew the two men involved. It took place fifty years ago. Let me tell you.”His voice seemed to grow deeper and more dramatic.“For a whole week that lighthouse had been cut off by storms,” he began, “with terrifying seas surging and crashing over the rocks. People on the shore were anxious about the two men working there. They’d been on the best terms until two or three weeks before, when they had a quarrel over cards in the village inn. Martin had accused Blake of cheating. Blake had swore to punish Martin for what he had said. But thanks to the wise advice of a man they both respected, they apologized to each other, and soon seemed to have got over their disagreement. But some slight resentment(怨恨) and bitterness remained, and it was feared that the stress of continuedseparation and rough weather might affect their nerves, though, needless to say, their friends had no idea how serious the consequence would be.”……The old man paused and I turned to go.“By the way,” he added, “Have you any free time this afternoon? If so, why don’t you have tea in the lighthouse? We are putting on a special boat trip today. We are charging a pound. ….. ”56. What was the weather like in the story?A. calm and sunnyB. windy and greyC. rainy and cloudyD. windy and bright57. Shakespeare’s plays, for example, have been read again and again by generation after generation; they have also been adapted for the big screen and shown at places other than the theater. Great literature also knows no language boundaries. For example, Chinese classical novels like The Dream of the Red Chamber and Journey of the Monkey have been widely read not only by Chinese but also by sinologists, people who study Chinese culture, from many language backgrounds.People read literature to enjoy great writers’ways with words and their humor. In the English language world, William Somerest Maugham is a novelist who is good at irony, i.e., saying the opposite of what is meant, to create humor. Another reason why Maugham’s novels are well-loved is that he never fails to provide a surprise ending to amuse his readers. When readers become involved with what they are reading, they may behave as if they have traveled through time to live with the characters in the story. Readers of Maugham’s short story,The Luncheon, may often stop and wonder about how the main character is so easily fooled when he has lunch with a woman he met once in Paris. They may also grow to love or hate this woman in the course of their reading.Literary works often provide room for different interpretations. For example, poetry, because of its succinct use of words, can often be interpreted in a number of different ways. Short plays, on the other hand, contain more elaborate descriptions of the setting and the moods of the characters, not to mention the stage directions. However, almost all literary works make use of symbols to suggest ideas indirectly. Because symbols can carry different meanings in different cultures, one person’s interpretation of a symbol can be very different from another person’s.Great literature is not bound by time or language barriers. It will continue to speak to generations of people.60. In Paragraph 3, whom does “he” refer to?A. The author.B. The reader.C. The main character.D. Somerest Maugham.61. According to one definition, it is the creation of something that appeals to our sense of beauty. This definition may include painting, drawing, sculpture, and architecture, or performing arts such as music and drama. Cultural and historical influences, as well as one’s own consciousness of what is aesthetically(审美地)pleasing, play a role in what one believes to be art. To some people, art is the description of an object--- a painting or sculpture of a person, for example. For others, art may be a blank canvas, or a piece of chalk. In order to talk about the different artistic styles that have existed over time, art historians have classified these styles into different periods and organized them in chronological order. The works of art produced within each period mirror the culture and events of that time. The earliest forms of art, from the prehistoric era(时代), include simple cave paintings and figures made from stone. There were followed by the sculptures and carvings of Ancient Civilizations era. Styles of the later Classical era (800 B.C. to 200 A.D.), reflect the culture of the time--- one that favored simplicity and balance. The period of the Middle Ages followed, and was succeeded by a revival of classical styles in the Renaissance era, beginning around 1400. Well-known artists of this time include Michelangelo and da Vinci. One hundred years of Baroque style, and then fifty years of Rococo followed the 200-year Renaissance. The start of the nineteenth century saw the rise of the Premodern era, followed by the Modern era, a period that lasted until 1945. This was followed by Postmodern era that characterizes the present day.In addition to differences in artistic styles between eras, there are also differences withineach era. The Postmodern era, for example, has featured innovative artistic styles such as Pop Art ( which includes work by Andy Warhol), Minimalism, and Conceptualism. Since the 1960s, Conceptualism has grown in popularity. This style focuses more on the idea o r ‘concept’ of art using realistic objects, rather than on art that is created using traditional materials such as paint, canvas, stone, or clay. Whereas Warhol used a can of beans as the basis for a painting, for example, a conceptual artist might say that the can itself is a work of art.Conceptualism has become an increasingly controversial(有争议的)art style, particularly as result of numerous conceptual artists winning the Turner Prize. This £20,000 award is presented annually to a British artist under the age of fifty, in recognition of an outstanding work. Sponsored by the Tate Gallery of Britain, it is recognized as one of Europe’s most prestigious awards for visual arts. Its aim is to promote discussion about contemporary British art. In 2002, pop music icon Madonna presented the Turner Prize to conceptual artist Martin Creed.……67. The majority are from multi-million dollar companies. Do you really think these businesses achieved success with a one-time, fix-all diet plan? No, they count on having most people return on a recurring basis; hence the term "yo-yo dieting". A lot of diet plans can be very limiting. You are required to follow a certain meal plan, which may consist of certain foods. Some plans are more exact and restrictive than others. Some diet companies even supply you with the actual meals. This means even more revenue(收入) for these businesses.A well-balanced diet consists of carbohydrates that are low in sugar (they're sometimes referred to as "good carbs"), proteins, and fats. (Yes, fats are important, too.) Fortunately for you, a well-balanced diet is all that is needed to safely and effectively lose or maintain weight, depending upon your goals.By educating yourself and having the willpower and commitment to make the proper food choices, you'll be well on your way toward achieving your weight-loss goals. After all, in order for a diet to be really successful, it cannot be just a diet. You must develop and conform to(遵守) a lifestyle that revolves around smart food decisions. This doesn't mean that you can never enjoy certain things that you crave(渴望), at least from time to time. We can all enjoy such things, but moderation is the key. A week's worth of smart choices deserves a meal out at your favorite restaurant. It also gives you something to look forward to and enjoy when you are saying "no" to those office donuts all week long.Don't get me wrong. It isn't always going to be easy. But rarely does anything worth having come easily. Liking what you see in the mirror, and being fit and healthy are definitely worth working hard for. Anyone can achieve such goals. In my opinion, nothing beats speaking to another person face to face. The first and most obvious advantage that a face communication has over a letter and e-mail is that there is the ability to interactively(相互作用地)converse. If the sender of a letter or an email does not write clearly, then much time must be spent to clear up the misunderstanding. In a face-to-face conversation, misunderstandings are easily dealt with because of the interactive nature of it.I would still argue that the face-to-face conversation is better because you can see the other person. Not all communication is verbal(口头的); the meaning of much of what we say depends on our body language and the tone of voice. Joking and irony are particularly difficult to express and enjoy without seeing the expression on someone’s face, or watching the movements of their body. Finally, if the goal of communication is to maintain or deepen the relationship(关系)with someone, the face-to-face communication offers the choice of communication by touch even if we could communicate by the video. Trust and respect between business partners can be established with a firm handshake. No amount of body language can convey the excitement of a high five between friends, and no number of words can communicate the comforting embrace of a loved one. Touch is the first basic method of our human relationships, before spoken language, and it is only available when people communicate face to face.54. 最新高考英语阅读理解精英训练极品题(9)及答案阅读理解-------CThe television news feature about Ben Heckmann, an eighth grader from Farmington, Minn, was breathless in its praise. “At 14, he has accomplished something many adults can’t achieve,” the reporter said, “Ben is a twice-published author.” But Ben’s two “Velvet Black” books, describing a fictional rock band, were not picked from a pile of manuscripts(手稿)by an eagle eyed publisher. They were self-published, at the cost of $400 by Ben’s parents.Over the past five years, print-on-demand technology and a growing number of self publishing companies whose books can be sold online have inspired writers of all ages to avoid the traditional gatekeeping system for determining who could call himself a “published author.”The mothers and fathers who foot the bill say they are simply trying to encourage their children, in the same way that other parents buy equipment for a promising baseball player. But others see self-publishing as a lost opportunity to teach children about hardship and perseverance. Mr. Robbins, a critic, thinks it is wonderful to start writing at a young age, but worries self-publishing sends the wrong message. “There are no prodigies(神童) in literature,” he said. “Literature requires experience, in a way that mathema tics and music do not.” Alan Rinzler, a publishing industry veteran, suggested parents hire a professional editor like him to work with their child to tear a manuscript apart and help make a better. Ben’s father, Ken, said Ben’s ambitions “weren’t to knock Harry Potter off the list,” but “to get that good feeling inside that you’ve done something.”Ajla Dizdarevic, 12, who has self-published two books of poetry, has been on television and in local newspapers. “Being a published author,” she said, “was alway s a dream of mine.” Her new dream: three books by age 15.36. Which of the following is true of Ben?A. He has achieved something unusual for his age.B. His self-published books were well received.C. His manuscripts were favored by the publisher.D. He was thought little of by the public media.【答案】A【解析】细节理解题。

As it nears its second century, the Park Service plans to increase its educational programs for students and teachers. The plans include transportation support for one hundred thousand students each year to visit national parks to learn about nature and history. Yellowstone is believed to have been the world’s first national park when it was established in 1872. Other students will get a chance to see parks in faraway places through Skype and other online programs. The National Park Service also works with partners to provide education. One of its partners is a nonprofit organization called NatureBridge. NatureBridge is celebrating its fortieth anniversary and says one million young people have taken part in its programs. The organization works with students from kindergarten through twelfth grade and uses national parks as its classrooms. Health【参考答案】66—70、BDCCB【齐齐哈尔市实验中学2013】DWhy can some people sleep through noises like a honking car or flushing toilet, while others are awakened by the lightest sound? To find the answer, sleep researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital conducted an unusual study of 12 self-described deep sleepers. After tests confirmed that the healthy volunteers were solid sleepers, they took part in a three-night study in the university’s sleep laboratory. The participants spent the night in a big and comfortable room. But the room also included four speakers positioned near the top of the bed.During the night, the deep sleepers were subjected to 14 different recorded sounds, like street traffic, toilets flushing, and an airplane flying overhead. Next door, the researchers monitored their sleep patterns and brain waves. As expected, all of the participants slept relatively well, but there were differences in how they responded to the noisy interruptions. Some of the sleepers didn’t wake up even when a sound was blasted at 70 decibels (分贝); others were awakened by sounds at 40 or 50 decibels. The researchers discovered that the difference in a sleeper’s reaction to noise could be predicted by the level of brain activity called “sleep spindles(纺锤体)〞.A sleep spindle is a burst of high-frequency brain activity coming from deep inside the brain during sleep. The source of the spindles is the thalamus (丘脑), a part of the brain that sends sensory information to the rest of the cortex (皮层).Before the study, the Massachusetts researchers theorized that the spindles are the brain’s way o f preventing sensory information from passing through the thalamus and waking the rest of the brain during sleep. They found that sleepers who experienced the most sleep spindles during the night were also the soundest sleepers and were least likely to be awakened by noise.Scientists already know that most people become lighter sleepers with age, mostlikely because older people experience less “slow wave sleep〞, which is the deepest stage of sleep. People also produce fewer sleep spindles as they age. But even when controlling for the stage of sleep a person was in, the number of sleep spindles still predicted their risk for awakening because of noise.More research is needed, but the findings suggest that a better understanding of sleep spindles could lead to new behavioral or drug therapies for people with sleep disorders. For example, future studies may try to determine whether diet, exercise or other behaviors may influence the number of sleep spindles a person produces during the night.68. Some participants can sleep well through loud noises mainly because ________.A. their brains don’t respond to outside noises.B. they don’t pay attention to the monitors.C. they adapt to the environment quickly.D. their brains react differently to noises.69. Scientists believe that the key to affecting deep sleep is________.A.sleep disordersB. stages of sleepC. sleep spindlesD. sensory information70. From the passage we can predict________.A. sleep spindles will be applied to change one’s beha viors.B. more solid sleepers will take part in relative experiments.C. more factors in influencing sleep spindles may be discovered.D. deep sleepers will probably enjoy a more healthy life.【参考答案】68-70 DCC阅读理解我来看主要是单词和语法结构问题还有一点就是问题的理解,即使看懂了,问题理解错了一样会选错[解题过程]阅读理解的目的是检查考生通过阅读获取信息的能力。
2014高考英语阅读理解精英定时训练题(9)及答案【甘肃省武威六中2013模拟题(4)】DScientists are uncovering the secrets of two port cities lost under the waters of the Mediterranean Sea, a researcher said yesterday.Herakleion and Menouthis were rich and proud cities until something reduced them to rubble (碎石) and buried them in the mud beneath 30 feet of sea water, French underwater explorer Franck Goddio said at the American Geophysical Union conference.“This is a mystery that is ongoing,” said Goddio, a founder of the European Institute of Marine Archeology, a Paris-based underwater research organization backed by the wealthy Hilti Foundation of Liechtenstein(列支敦士登基金会).The destruction of the twin port cities has haunted Goddio ever since he happened upon the site about 15 miles from Alexandria while exploring sunken ships from Napoleon’s fleet.Goddio and his group of expert divers, marine archeologists(海洋考古学家) and others, are using high powered vacuums, satellite navigation systems and sophisticated sonar(声纳) to excavate(挖掘) the sunken cities from underneath a carpet of silt about one meter (three feet) high.Walls of shops, remains of streets and gold artifacts have been found and recovered. Some experts believe that the port cities were destroyed by a series of massive earthquakes, much like the quakes scientists believe felled Troy(特洛伊城), Jericho and other ancient cities. The uniform direction of the collapsed columns and walls suggest an earthquake, Goddio said, but no fault lines have been found nearby.Other researchers believe a massive wave, caused by either an offshore earthquake or a distant underwater landslide, could explain the catastrophe. Still others think rising seas and a shift in the Nile River outlet doomed the cities.“The argument, as you can see, continues,” Goddio said.68.
