Book Report on the Kite Runner
RIVERHEAD BOOKS NEW YORK
Kite is one of my favorite toys when I was just a little girl. I always fly kite with my friend on the ground. The kite reminds me of both the happiness and sadness in childhood. The Kite Runner talked something about loyal, about friendship.
The writer of The Kite Runner is Khaled Hosseini. He was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, and moved to the United States in 1980. The Kite Runner, his first novel, is an international bestseller, published in forty countries. In 2006, he was named a U.S goodwill envoy to the United Nations Agency. He lives in northern California now.
The story happened in Kabul, Afghanistan. It talked about the friendship between two little boy, Amir and Hassan. Amir is born in a rich family. Hassan is his servant. They grow up together and like brothers. One same thing happened to them is that they both lose their mother when they were very young. Hassan is very loyal to Amir, but Amir sells him. In order to run the blue kite which respect the honor of Amir, he insulted by some bad guys. Amir wouldn't face Hassan because he didn't help him when he was in trouble. He putted Hassan out of his house after that. Many years later, Amir has settled down in America because of war and established a family, but Hassan died for protecting Amie's house in Afghanistan. Accidentally, Amir gets to know a big secret that Hassan is really his brother. He shocked by this news and decided to atone for his crime that hound around him from childhood. Finally, he saved Sohrab, Hassan's sun.
I am deeply moved by the friendship between these two boys. Hassan is loyal to Amir. He loves Amir and is willing to do anything for him. Just like he always said, " for you, a thousand times over!" Hassan uses all his life to protect his servant, his friend, his brother, his Amir. He runs the kite for him over and over again. He managed to help him win the competition. In order to protect Amir, he learns to use catapult shoot bad guys who want to hurt Amir. Finally, he realized his dream. He died for his friend Amir. Compare with Hassan, Amir is not that loyal to their friendship. He almost had done anything for Hassan. He is selfish enough and coward
enough. He dare to do to help Hassan when Hassan fighting with others to protect him. Just because he has no confidence to face Hassan, he putted Hassan out of his house. Thankfully, he finally realized his crime and atones for it by saving Sohrab. At the same time, he saved himself in his own way.
In my opinion, the kite in this novel is the memory in childhood. Kite is the pure friendship that many people pursued. Kite is the real love. Kite is the inner peace. Hassan is the kite runner, me too. Although I can't run very fast. There are so many people in our life, our parents, our friends, our teachers and even many strangers. They helped us when we are in trouble just like Hassan helped Amir. But we don't care it at the most time. If one day we lose them, we will realize the importance of them. Why don't we value then, value the love of them when they with us.。
