They use the devices to stay in contact with family and friends while driving. The most common method of communication is by sending written text messages, a custom known as texting.A new study suggests that more than half of U. S. parents believe texting while driving a car or other vehicles is unsafe. Yet most of those questioned said they do it anyway. The finding was reported earlier this month in a scientific publication. Researchers questioned 435 parents from across the United States. Regan Bergmark, who led the survey, said that many people believe texting while driving is unsafe but have also likely done it. In fact, the survey found that 52 percent of millennial(千禧年的)parents said they thought it was "never" safe to text and drive. The same goes for 58 percent of older parents. But almost two-thirds of parents reported reading texts while driving, and more than half of them have also written texts. Millennial parents were more likely to use email while driving and drive faster than the speed limit."The problem with smartphones is that they have become an unavoidable part of daily life for most people," Regan said. "Many people are expected to be reachable by phone or email immediately, to be reachable for their children or work. Being a responsible adult therefore often means always being reachable —yet we also know that while driving, being reachable carries with it the risk of a crash."In general, it is never safe to use a smartphone while driving. There are a number of apps that can help to limit distracted driving by disabling cell phone features when the vehicle is in motion. The simplest thing to do is put the phone out of sight and out of reach to reduce the temptation to drive distracted.【长难句分析】"The problem with smartphones is that they have become an unavoidable part of daily life for most people," Regan said.翻译:“智能手机的问题在于,它们已经成为大多数人日常生活中不可避免的一部分,”里根说。

续写骑鹅旅行记200字英语作文六年级下册全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Goose Rider's Travel Journal (Continued)After my unbelievable journey across the pond riding upon the magnificent gander Charles, I found myself in the heart of London, England. The streets were bustling with horses and carriages, and the architecture was grander than anything I had ever witnessed in my small village back home.I tethered Charles to a post near a busy street market and decided to explore the city on foot. The sound of vendors hawking their wares filled the air with a melodious cacophony. "Get yer fresh apples 'ere! Straight from the county orchards!" One merchant with a rosy complexion would shout. "Finest silk ribbons and lace from the Far East!" Cried another donning a jaunty cap.I marveled at the exotic spices, fabrics, and curiosities from around the globe that were being peddled. Having only known the simple existence of my rural hometown, the vibrancy and diversity of the big city was utterly intoxicating. I began to feelquite insignificant amidst the sea of strangers flowing through the winding alleyways.Suddenly, a raucous noise erupted from a nearby pub. A group of sailors poured out into the street, flushed and jovial from their overindulgence. One particularly rotund sailor with a greying beard locked eyes with me and let out an ear-splitting guffaw. "Well I'll be! If it isn't the lad who came in on a goose!" He bellowed, stumbling towards me with drink in hand. The other sailors turned their glazed eyes in my direction and joined in with a chorus of mocking laughter. "Leave the boy be!" Came a firm feminine voice. A stout woman standing behind a flower cart fixed the drunken oafs with a stern gaze. "He's just a child, ya arrant knaves! Back to the inn with ye before I summon the authorities!"The sailors grumbled indignantly but heeded the flower woman's warning, staggering back down the road from whence they came. She gave me an apologetic look and a warm smile. "Don't mind that sorry lot, poppet. These old salts get a bit too deep in their cups at times but they're harmless enough.""Th-thank you, ma'am," I stammered, still flustered from the unexpected confrontation. The woman beckoned me over to herflower stall where she was arranging bright crimson roses in a woven basket."I saw you arrive earlier with that ridiculous goose in tow," she chuckled. "Caused quite a hubbub I'd wager! Where do you hail from, child? You must have had one deucedly grand adventure to end up here."And so I regaled her with the incredible tale of how I came to journey across the English Channel by riding atop a goose. She listened with rapt attention, clutching a handkerchief to her breast and gasping at all the most suspenseful parts. When I finished, she shook her head in disbelief."Well I've lived a good many years in this city, but I can't say as I've ever heard a story to rival that one! You've got a poet's soul, dearie, spinning yarns like that." She handed me one of the lush red roses from her basket. "Here, take this as a token from an old flower hawker who appreciates a well-spun tale."I thanked her profusely and examined the velvety petals, reveling in the rich floral aroma. With a newfound sense of boldness from my encounter with the kindhearted vendor, I decided to fully embrace my role as an intrepid explorer of this teeming metropolis. Who knew what other wondrous experiences awaited me on the streets of London?Perhaps I would stumble upon a troupe of nimble-footed street performers dazzling crowds with feats of derring-do. Or maybe I'd gain employment as a messenger boy, delivering parcels and letters to the illustrious upper crust while getting a clandestine glimpse into their rarified world. The possibilities were boundless and limited only by my imagination.Tucking the prized rose carefully into my lapel, I strode forth with my head held high, ready to transcribe the next chapter of my implausible yet extraordinary wayfaring adventures. For I was the goose rider - an ambassador of the uncharted frontiers of fantasy made real. And the whole of London would be my oyster to篇2Continuing My Travels on a GooseWhen we last left off in my goose riding adventures, I had just taken flight from my village carried by a massive goose after being laughed at by the other children for my crazy idea. Little did they know that riding a goose would be the start of the most thrilling journey of my young life! After soaring high into the clouds, the goose and I traveled for many miles over forests, rivers, and mountains. I held tightlyto the goose's feathers, trying not to look down at the tiny scenery below. My heart raced with exhilaration but also fear of falling. What if the goose decided to throw me off? What if it grew tired midflight? My knuckles turned white from gripping so hard.Just when I began to worry the goose might drop me, it started descending into a lush green valley I had never seen before. Wildflowers of every color covered the grassy fields as far as the eye could see. A sparkling stream twisted and turned through the valley, and ripe fruit weighed down branches of the trees. It looked like something out of a storybook! The goose landed and allowed me to dismount on shaky legs. I collapsed onto the soft grass, relieved to be on solid ground again. As I caught my breath, I noticed the goose erschreichen the fruit trees. It plucked two ripe apples with its beak and waddled over, offering one to me. I had heard that a "gosling" was a gesture of friendship from geese."Why thank you, kind goose!" I said, accepting the apple. I took a big juicy bite as the goose gobbled up its apple.Reinvigorated by the fresh fruit, I spent the afternoon exploring the valley with my new feathered friend. We splashed in the cool stream, collected bundles of wildflowers, and I evenattempted to go for a short flight while clutching the goose's outstretched wings. I had never felt so alive! When evening fell, the goose and I settled underneath a shady tree. As I drifted off to sleep, my mind wandered back to the children from my village. They missed out on one amazing ride, I thought with a smile. Where would the goose and I go tomorrow? One thing was for sure, this was just the beginning of many more adventures. The next morning, I awoke to the goose nudging me with its beak, as if to say "Let's go!" Laughing, I scrambled onto its back once more. With a flapping of its large wings, we were off sailing through the clouds again. This routine continued for several more glorious days and nights as the goose and I explored whatever landscape spread out before us. We trekked through dense forests, hiked up towering mountains, and coasted over shimmering lakes. I even mustered up the courage to go for a swim while the goose kept watch nearby. In the evenings, we would roast fresh fish and wild berries I had gathered over a crackling campfire. I had become quite the little wilderness expert! As the fire danced and crackled, I wouldrecoun our day's travels to my faithful goose, which always seemed to be hanging on my every word.On what I thought was just another picture-perfect day, my feathered friend and I came across a winding dirt road during our flight. The goose showed no signs of stopping until I spotted a familiar sight in the distance - it was my village! My heart leapt with joy at reuniting with my family, but also sank a little realizing my grand adventure was coming to an end. As we grew closer, I could make out the figure of the children who had initially made fun of my goose-riding dreams. With a sly grin, I instructed the goose to land right in the middle of the village center. The young bullies' mouths fell open in shock as I brought my goose to a smooth landing in a flurry of feathers and hay. The impossible had happened!I slid off the goose's back and puffed out my chest triumphantly. "I told you riding a goose was possible!" I exclaimed to the dumbfounded children. "In fact, this goose and I have been traveling all over on the most fun adventure anyone could ever imagine!"Then I launched into one of my famously long-winded recaps (or at least my parents always said they were too long)about all the incredible sights the goose and I had experienced together over the past couple weeks - everything from circus to swimming. By the end, even the cruelest young people were looking at me with eyes full of awe and a little bit of regret.Who's crazy now, I thought with immense satisfaction. I had showed them that sometimes it pays to follow your dreams, no matter how silly they may sound at first. After my tale, I turned to my goose friend, brush ed its soft feathers, and whispered, "Thank you for making my dream come true." With one last honk, it spread its massive wings and soared off into the horizon.I watched until the goose became just a speck in the distance. My adventuring days were over for now, but I had a feeling it wouldn't be the last time I travelled by goose...The End篇3Journey on a Goose: A Fantastic Adventure (Continued)I could scarcely believe my eyes when I woke up soaring high above the clouds on the back of a giant goose! My heart raced with excitement and trepidation as I realized this was no ordinarydream. The events of the previous day came rushing back - stumbling upon the mysterious old man's cottage, being given the enchanted golden feather, and embarking on this unbelievable journey astride a colossal goose. As we sailed through the azure sky, I gazed down in awe at the patchwork landscape far below. Verdant forests, winding rivers, and quaint villages passed underneath like a living tapestry. The fresh breeze tousled my hair, filling my lungs with crisp, invigorating air. I had never felt so alive! After what seemed like an eternity, my feathered steed began its descent toward a sprawling meadow dotted with vibrant wildflowers. We came in for a gentle landing, and I slid off the goose's downy back, my legs shaky from the thrill of the flight. "Where are we?" I wondered aloud, turning in a slow circle to take in my new surroundings. To my astonishment, I found myself in the midst of a realm that could have sprung from the pages of a storybook. Towering turrets and spiraling spires adorned an imposing castle in the distance. Nearby, I spotted a quaint village with thatched cottages encircled by rolling hills. A meandering stream glittered like liquid diamonds in the dappled sunlight filteringthrough the trees. I felt as though I had tumbled into along-forgotten fairy tale.As I gaped at these captivating sights, the sound of approaching footsteps broke the tranquil silence. I whirled around to see a young boy who appeared to be about my age. He regarded me with a mixture of surprise and delight."Welcome, stranger, to the Realm of Wonders!" he exclaimed, sweeping into an exaggerated bow. "My name is Cedric. Judging by your windswept hair and look of amazement, I'd wager you've arrived here in rather unconventional fashion."Struggling to find my voice, I nodded dumbly. The boy's eyes then fell upon my feathered companion. "I see you've befriended one of the royal geese! That's a rare honor indeed." He let out an admiring whistle. "Those remarkably geese can fly anywhere their human friends desire. With one at your side, I'd imagine your journey here was exceptionally expeditious!"As Cedric cheerfully relayed the wonders that awaited in this magical realm, my initial trepidation melted away, giving rise to giddy anticipation. Who knew what unimaginable adventures lay in store? I could hardly wait to explore every astonishing corner of this extraordinary place.Gesturing toward the castle, Cedric grinned mischievously. "Shall we be off then? I simply must introduce you to the Dragon's Court - though mind you don't stare overlong at the King's magnificent jewel-encrusted waistcoat. Folks who gawk too greedily have been known to sprout donkey ears on the spot!"As peculiar as my new companion seemed, I found his friendly irreverence incredibly endearing. With a lighthearted laugh and a keen sense that this was merely the beginning, I followed Cedric toward the beckoning castle turrets, the golden goose gliding serenely alongside us.No matter how implausible or fanciful it all appeared, I knew this was no mere dream. I had tumbled into the tapestry of an authentic, living fairy tale - one bound to be overflowing with thrilling perils, heartwarming friendship, and enchanting magic. For the first time, I understood what it meant to find oneself at the beginning of a genuine adventure. And I couldn't wait to see what bewitching experiences awaited along the way.。
新视野三版读写 B 2U 4T e x t AC o ll e g e s w ee t h ea r t s1 I smile at my two lovely daughters and they seem so much more mature than we, their parents, when we were college sweethearts. Linda, who's 21, had a boyfriend in her freshman year she thought she would marry, but they're not together anymore. Melissa, who's 19, hasn't had a steady boyfriend yet. My daughters wonder when they will meet "The One", their great love. They think their father and I had a classic fairy-tale romance heading for marriage from the outset. Perhaps, they're right but it didn't seem so at the time. In a way, love just happens when you least expect it. Who would have thought that Butch and I would end up getting married to each other? He became my boyfriend because of my shallow agenda: I wanted a cute boyfriend!2 We met through my college roommate at the university cafeteria. That fateful night, I was merely curious, but for him I think it was love at first sight. "You have beautiful eyes", he said as he gazed at my face. He kept staring at me all night long. I really wasn't that interested for two reasons. First, he looked like he was a really wild boy, maybe even dangerous. Second, although he was very cute, he seemed a little weird.3 Riding on his bicycle, he'd ride past my dorm as if "by accident" and pretend to be surprised to see me. I liked the attention but was cautious about his wild, dynamic personality. He had a charming way with words which would charm any girl. Fear came over me when I started to fall in love. His exciting "bad boy image" was just too tempting to resist. What was it that attracted me? I always had an excellent reputation. My concentration was solely on my studies to get superior grades. But for what? College is supposedto be a time of great learning and also some fun. I had nearly achieved a great education, and graduation was just one semester away. But I hadn't had any fun; my life was stale with no component of fun! I needed a boyfriend. Not just any boyfriend. He hadto be cute. My goal that semester became: Be ambitious and grab the cutest boyfriend I can find.4 I worried what he'd think of me. True, we lived in a time when a dramatic shift in sexual attitudes was taking place, but I was a traditional girl who wasn't ready for the new ways that seemedcommon on campus. Butch looked superb! I was not immune to his personality, but I was scared. The night when he announced to the world that I was his girlfriend, I went alongwith him. And then I suddenly thought: "Oh my gosh! Am I his girlfriend? How did that happen?" Then he whispered sweet words in my ear and said, "I'm going to marry you one day and I will be a lawyer. You will see."5 I was laughing inside and said to myself, "I'd never marry this guy. He's a rebel without a good future. He's my boyfriend because I hate my boring student life. I just want to have fun."6 Sure enough, the following month, I found out he had failed all hiscourses. Consequently, he was going to be expelled from the university. To my disgust, he seemed resigned to his fate. I knew there was hope, so I led him to the college secretary for reconsideration.7 "You are going to graduate with a BA in political science from UPenn and proceed to the College of Law," I told him, lodging an appeal on his behalf, which was appro ved. Butch was granted reconsideration. And, once we became steadies, he coordinated his studies and social life, passing all of his classes. He eventually studied law.8 Despite Butch's somewhat wild character, at his core, he is always a perfect gentleman and deserves a lot of credit for that.True, he'd sometimes take the liberty ofdisplaying his love by planting a kiss on my lips right in front of my astonished friends who watched and disapproved. But the truth is we had a pure and responsible relations hip for seven full years. Sitting by the palm trees, hand in hand, we would listen to romantic songs, watch the sunset, and weave dreams of being together with children of our own, forever.9 Two years passed in a blur. One day, Butch took me by surprise ashe knelt down and proposed marriage holding a dozen red roses! Filled with deep emotion, I confessed my love for him, "How roooomaaaantic!!" Then my brain woke up from fantasy land. I cried out, "Good heavens. No! We're too young to tie the knot. We haven't even graduated from college yet!" I really loved him but was pessimistic about our chances for success.10 We married five years later.11 Our faithful journey of love and learning took us down rocky roads of hardship and on smooth easy-going highways. It is a long, romantic, sometimes crazy, love story that sums up a 29-year long honeymoon togetheras a couple who are still madly in love with each other. Our love commenced with a casual attraction but bloomed into a mature love and rich life.L a ngu a g e Po i n t s :1 I s m il e at m y t w o l o v e l y d a ugh t e r s and t h e y s ee m s o m u c h m o r e m a t u r e t h a n w e, t h e i r p a r e n t s , w h e n w e w e r e c o ll e g e s w ee t h ea r t s .
