Abstract In today’s society, the research of electric vehicles becomes an important compass in the development of automotive industry. It involves the core technology in many areas likes Vehicle Engineering,Motor Control Driver,Electrical control and Battery technology. Steering trapezium mechanism is an important part of vehicle steering system. Not only can the appropriate steering trapezium mechanism reduce sliding in steering process, but also can control the abnormal abrasion to improve the vehicles’ steering safety.
According to the Principle Ackerman, the paper got the error function of angle between the actual and ideal steering process through analyzing the steering process of electric vehicles. By using MATLAB as working platform, we programmed the steering trapezium mechanism for optimal design, and got the trapezoidal angle and trapezoidal arm length in different ranges of outside steering angle when the error function is minimized. Then, based on this several sets of data, we made the actual curve of the inside steering angle. Compared to the ideal curve, we analyzed the errors. We chose one group as a result with frequency of different steering angle in actual steering, finally completed the design and optimization of steering trapezium mechanism.
