It's like getting to travel to every corner of the earth without even leaving town.One of the first things I like to do when I get to the zoo is go see the big cats. Lions, tigers, leopards - they're all so powerful and majestic. I try to mimic their loud roars, but I don't think I quite have it down yet. My little roar doesn't seem to scare anybody! The lions just look at me like I'm being silly. I don't care though, I think they're the coolest.Next, I always have to swing by the gorilla habitat. The gorillas are so fun to watch as they play and wrestle with each other. They kind of remind me of my little brother and me when we're horsing around. Sometimes the gorillas like to put on a little show, beating their chests and stomping around. I'm glad there's a big glass window though, because as strong as they are, I wouldn't want one of them to get too close!The reptile house is another must-see for me. I know some people get creeped out by snakes and lizards, but I think they're really neat. My favorite are the big constrictor snakes like the anaconda and python. They're so long and thick! I can't even begin to wrap my mind around how a snake that massive can slither around. The crocodiles and alligators are pretty awesome too with their powerful jaws. I wouldn't want to mess with one of those!One of the highlights is always getting to see the elephants. They're just so enormous, even the babies! It's hard to believe something so big can be so graceful. I love watching them use their long trunks to grab food and snuff dirt on themselves. Their ears are like giants fans too, flapping in the breeze. Sometimes the zookeepers let the elephants take a bath, and it's hilarious seeing them spray water everywhere like they're kids at a pool.If I had to pick just one favorite animal though, it would have to be the giraffes. I'm totally fascinated by how long their necks are! Seeing them bend way down to get a drink or grab some leaves is just wild. Their tongues are pretty crazy too, striped with purple and super long to help them reach leaves high up. I stare at the giraffes in amazement for what feels like hours, daydreaming that I was born with a neck like that!There are so many other cool things at the zoo too - the petting zoo with the friendly goats and sheep, the bird exhibits with bright macaws and toucans, the bug house that makes me shudder. No matter how many times I go, there's always something new to discover and learn about.My friends all think I'm a total zoofreak, and they're probably right! But I don't care, because the zoo is the best. Whenever I'm having a bad day, my parents know the perfect pick-me-up is a trip to see the animals. From the second I step through those gates, my face lights up with the biggest smile as I get ready for another amazing adventure. The zoo is my happy place, and I could spend every single day there surrounded by all the incredible creatures if I could!。
