Dear Ms White,
I used to have a lot of problems and I always to fix(解决)them. I used to do badly in English. To fix
it, I read English newspapers and went to the English corner to improve my English. Now I'm quite
good at it. I used to be weak. Then I ate right and joined a sports club. Now I'm strong and healthy. I
used to be afraid of speaking in public. So I took part in all kinds of school activities. Now I'm outgoing
and everyone likes making friends with me.
But now I have a problem that I can't fix. I have the ugliest nose in the whole world! It's not only fat
but also big! I want to have a nose job(鼻子整形), but how can I get my parents to agree?
Yours.
Ann.12
Dear Ann,
It sounds like you're a really proactive(积极主动的)person, always fixing problems. That's good,
but when it comes to things like your nose, you have to stop. It sounds to me that you're looking for
things that are wrong with your body. That's very dangerous. Also, I'd like to point out that nobody is
perfect. A nose doesn't reflect who you are, so there's no need for you to feel bad about yourself at
all.
In my opinion, as a student, you should pay more attention to your schoolwork instead of your looks.
Best wishes
Ms White

The American book Who Moved My Cheese(《谁动了我的奶酪》)has been a best-seller all over the world. It
teaches people how to face changes in their lives. It is mainly for teens. The book tells us that when facing changes in
our life, like a new school or new friends, don't be afraid. Use this change to make a better life.
The book gives an example of a change at school. A school is changing from having two terms to three terms
because there are too many students. Several teens are talking about this. Most of them are unhappy and worried.
"But Chris is not. He laughs and tells a story about two mice, two "little people" and some cheese.
The four are in a maze(迷宫)looking for the cheese. Here, cheese means something important in life. But they
find the cheese is gone: The mice realise that they can't change what has happened and that they have to find more
cheese. This means finding different dreams. The little people can't do this. They are afraid of changes so they find
no cheese.
After Chris finishes the story, his friends understand one thing: to get more cheese, move in a new direction(方向)quickly. They understand how this can be used in the changes all teens face, such as doing well at school or feeling

Lots of students know what a marathon(马拉松赛跑)is, but perhaps they don't know what a triathlon(铁人三项)is. The triathlon is a sport that has three parts—swimming, bicycling and running. It is not an easy sport, but a
man named Joe Salter is very good at it. A few months ago, he finished a special triathlon—he juggled(抛起接住)three balls all the time during the triathlon. That is to say, he kept on throwing and catching three balls while he was
