Dave: Sure. What kind of bread would you like?

Emi: White is fine.

Ana: Hi, Chris. How was your weekend?

Aha: Oh, yeah, it was great. But I spent way too much money.

Ana: Emi and Sam.

Chris: Oh. How did you get there?

Aha: We flew.

Chris: Wasn't that expensive?

Aha: No. It was really cheap. Sam had these great discount coupons.

Chris: Where did you guys stay?

Aha: Oh, Sam has a brother in L. A. We stayed at his place.

Chris: Ah. Wasn't that.., crowded?

Aha: No. It was a lot of fun. You know, Chris, you ought to come with us next time.

Chris: Hmm. Maybe.

Laura: Hi, Frankie. What are you doing?

Frankie: Homework.

Laura: Need any help?

Frankie: Uh, yeah. Can you show me how to use this math program?

Laura: Sure...Just type the numbers in Column 1.

Frankie: OK. Do I have to hit "return"?

Doctor: You have a fever.

Emi: I know. I have a cold.

Doctor: Oh, it's German. It means "Good health". People say it when someone sneezes.

Unite one Lesson one Audio McDonald's Corporation (MCD) is one of

the leading fast-food restaurant chains in the world, touching the lives of

people every day. As the world's largest chain of restaurants, it primarily

sells hamburgers, chicken, french fries, milkshakes, soft drinks, etc.

The business began in 1940, with a restaurant opened by brothers Dick

and Mac McDonald. Initially, they just owned a hotdog stand. But after

establishing the restaurant they served around 25 items, which were mostly

barbecued. It became a popular and profitable teen hangout.

Their introduction of the "Speed Service System"in 1948 established

the principles of the modern fast-food restaurant. The present corporation

dates its founding to the opening of a franchised restaurant by Ray Kroc on

bunch of tourist stuff---sightseeing, shopping and food. Um, we went to see the Forbidden City

that is the palace museum. It is really splendid. It was the grand and deluxe halls that caught our

eyes. And, I also enjoyed the beauty of the Great Wall. It seems more impressive than pictures in

magazines and brochures. Then, we went over to the Hutongs and the courtyards. I supposed a

peaceful and blissful life if I lived in the courtyards.
