It's in the Zhejiang Province of China, right by the East China Sea. Ningbo is a super old city with a rich history dating back over 7,000 years! Can you believe that? It's been around for a really, really long time.One of the best things about Ningbo is its location by the sea. There are beautiful beaches and coastal scenery everywhere you look. My favorite spot is Yangpu Beach. The sand is soft and golden, and the water is a pretty shade of blue-green. During the summer, my family and I love to go swimming and build sandcastles there. We also enjoy flying kites on the beach because it's usually quite windy.Ningbo is famous for its delicious seafood dishes. My mouth waters just thinking about the fresh fish, shrimp, and crab caught right from the ocean. One of my all-time favorite foods is Ningbo's specialty, a type of small yellow croaker fish called "xiaohualian." It's so tasty when steamed or fried! The city is also known for its tangerine peel green tea, which has a unique and refreshing flavor.If you visit Ningbo, you have to check out the Tianyi Pavilion Library. It's an ancient private library that has been around since the 16th century! Can you imagine how many books are inside?The building itself is incredibly beautiful too, with classic Chinese architecture and gorgeous carved details. I could spend hours just admiring the craftsmanship.For a bird's eye view of the city, you can go up to the top of Ningbo's iconic Tianyi Tower. This cylindrical tower is over 200 feet tall and has become a famous landmark. From the top, you can see the whole skyline, the Yao River running through the city, and even the ocean in the distance on a clear day. Just be warned – there are a lot of steps to climb to reach the top!Ningbo has some cool festivals and events too. Every year during the Qingming Festival, the city holds a hugetomb-sweeping ceremony at the Heyi Tomb to pay respects to ancestors. People burn incense, offer food and drink, and the whole area is decorated with colorful lanterns and couplets. It's a really meaningful tradition.Another must-see is the Ningbo Museum, which has an impressive collection of artifacts like pottery, jade carvings, and ancient coins. There are even some fascinating exhibits on Ningbo's maritime history and shipbuilding traditions. The museum building itself is modern and sleek, with aneye-catching spiral design.When it comes to shopping, Ningbo has everything from glitzy malls to bustling street markets. One shopping area I really enjoy is Lao Waitan, which runs along the banks of the Yao River. There are tons of little shops and food stalls lining the pathways. You can find all sorts of souvenirs, snacks, and handmade crafts.
