About the Unit

This unit is about a modern hero Nelson Mandela. It talks

about the racial discrimination and their efforts to make the

white and the black equal.

About the students The students are, to some extent, familiar with the topic A

modern Hero---Nelson Mandela, but not familiar with racial

discrimination. Many of them even didn't know ANC.

Although they are eager to know something new, it might be

a little difficult for them to fully understand the whole

information, especially from listening.

Teaching aims

and demands Language skills aims:

1. Enable students to talk about something about ANC

Youth league.

2. Enable students to say something about Elias.

3. Enable students to develop their listening and speaking

skills.

I. Analysis of the teaching background

To practice Ss’ ability of speaking English and to prepare for the College Entrance

Examination, I design this lesson to strengthen the Ss’ ability of listening and

speaking.

II. Analysis of the teaching aims.

It has three aims in this lesson .

1.Knowledge aim: To practice the Ss’ ability of listening and speaking

2.Ability aims:

To listen to dialogues and ask and answer questions from the dialogues.

3).Emotion aim: To know some expressions of having holidays.

Unit 2 English around the world—Listening

Good morning/afternoon, everyone! I'm very glad to stand here to interpret my lesson. Today

my topic is “English around the world” (listening part). I am going to introduce my lesson from

the following aspects: the analysis of teaching material and students, teaching aims, teaching key

points and difficult points, teaching and studying methods, teaching procedures and blackboard

design.

Ⅰ. Analysis of the teaching material

First of all, let’s focus on the analysis of teaching material. This unit is about different aspects

of English, for example, history of English development, introduction of different English dialects.

The listening part is about interesting story with English dialect and it can help students exclude

the disruption of dialects.
