二、垂悬修饰语(Dangling Modifiers)用短语或从句修饰某个词的时候,一定要保证句子的结构清楚,保证读者可以明确看出修饰语和被修饰语之间的联系。
如果二者之间的联系不明确,会使读者感到困惑,给继续阅读带来困难。
垂悬修饰语是一个短语,或一个省略句(一个没有主语或没有动词,或既无主语也无动词的从句)在句子中找不到逻辑上被修饰的对象,也因此看似与主句无关。
常见的垂悬修饰语有垂悬分词,垂悬动名词,垂悬不定式,垂悬介词和垂悬省略句。
例如:Watching the moving film,my eyes filled with tears.这个例句中,watching这个动作的实施者并不是主句主语my eyes,因此watching the moving film就成了找不到逻辑上被修饰的对象的无依着的分词修饰语。
改正这种错误,必须明确动作的施动者。
改为:Watching the moving film,I felt my eyes filled with tears.第一种改错方法:变换主句主语,使其和修饰语的行为一致。
