Unit 9 Saving The Earth
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! Thanks for let me stand here to share my lesson! Hope you will enjoy it!
My teaching material is from Section Reading, Unit 9 Saving The Earth. Based on my arrangement, I divide this material into 6 parts, they are: Teaching aims, Difficult points & focal points, Teaching methods, Teaching aids, Teaching procedures and Blackboard design.
Now let’s come to the points:
PartⅠ Teaching aims
This part including knowledge aims, ability aims and emotional aims.
1. Knowledge aims: To master words about environment and grammar on Inversion.
2. Ability aims: To improve reading skills and c ultivate the students’ teamwork spirit.
3. Emotional aims: To realize the importance of protecting the environment, know the problems we facing and find out solutions.
PartⅡ Difficult points and focal points
Words on environment are important, they will be used here and there, so we should keep them in mind. Inversion is very important in English, also it is hard to master, I will pay more attention to this grammar point. After this reading lesson, I will use a period to summarize the usage of inversion and give students more examples and exercises to help them master this point well.
Part Ⅲ Teaching methods
For the teaching method, I choose Cooperation method and Discussion method. I will ask the students discuss in groups and fill in the blanks, I am sure they will do the work better if they cooperate well. It is necessary to teach them team-work spirit, I want to tell them 21st century is a society of team, not a society of single. Part Ⅳ Teaching aids
In order to teach this lesson better, I need a tape recorder and some pictures about environment to help. The tape recorder can help students pronounce correctly and fluently. Pictures can give student deeper impression.
Part V Teaching procedures
I should prepare the tape recorder and several pictures before class.
1. Lead-in
A perfect lead-in is very important, when we begin a new lesson, the lead-in will affect our interest to this topic. Students do not wish to hear turn to page30 or let’s review the content we studied last class, for they have heard too many times. In this lesson, I use several questions about festivals to lead in our topic, I am sure students like festivals and holidays.
2. First reading
I will ask the students to scan the questions in post-reading quickly and then use tape recorder to lead students read the passage for the first time, let them try to find out answers to the questions. When we do reading comprehension exercises, to scan the questions first is helpful, we can read the passage with questions and purpose.
3 Lead students to analysis this article sentence by sentence, ask volunteers to answer questions
There are new important words and expressions in the article, so to analysis this article sentence by sentence is necessary, sentence and context can help students remember new words better and more quickly. Besides, ask students to answer questions can let me know how much they have mastered and let more students listening carefully with full attention. At the same time, I will praise the students who answer correctly and encourage the ones who give the wrong answer. Students need praise and encouragement.
4 Grammar point---Inversion
Inversion is very important, I will use examples to help the students to master this grammar point.
1) Prepositional phrase + be + Subject
Among the goods are books, exercise-books, pens and some other things.
2) Adverb (here, there, now, then, thus) + Predicate Verb (be, come, go)
There exist serious problems.
There goes the bell.
Here is your letter.
3) Only + Adverbial modifier (adverb, prepositional phrase, adverbial clause)
Only by changing the way we live can we save the earth.
5 Post-reading: ask some students to answer the questions after reading
The questions are simple, they can find out answers from the text. Only the last one may have many different answers, I will ask two or three students to give us their answers and I will give them a suggested answer.
6 Homework
1) Remember the new words and phrases.
2) Do the exercise on the text book
