英语中以it 做形式主语，以被动语态作谓语，其后跟一个由that引导的主语从句的结构很多。这种结 构在译成汉语时，除把it一律省略外，通常有两种处理方法： 1.在被动语态前加“人们”、“有人”、“我们”、“大家”等词 2.用“据……”等短语译出

一般说来，可译为无主句的英语被动 句多是描述什么地方发生、存在或消 失了什么事物的句子。另外，一些表 示看法、态度及告诫、要求、号召等 的句子，可译成汉语的使动结构。使 动结构的特点是：通常不提出施动者， 即为无主句；句中有“使”、“让” 等词。如：
例1．Every student must be helped to understand that only by painstaking study can he master English. 必须使每个学生懂得，只有刻苦学习，才能掌 握英语。 例2．The educational reform must be carried through to the end. 必须把教育改革进行到底。 例3．In no circumstances should erroneous statements be allowed to spread unchecked. 决不让错误言论自由泛滥。
被动语态的翻译
为了强调被动者，使其位置鲜明、突出时；

三、译成汉语的判断句
凡是着重描述事物的过程、性质和状态的英语被 动句，与系表结构相近，往往可译成“是…的结构。
The volume is not measured in square millimeters. It is measured in cubic millimeters. 体积不是以平方毫米计量的。它是以立方毫米 计量的。 The first explosive in the world was made in China. 世界上最早的炸药是在中国制造的。
3.增译逻辑主语：原句中未包含动作的发出者，译
成主动句时可从逻辑主语出发，适当增添不确定主语， 如“人们”、“大家”、“我们”等。
Salt is known to have a very strong corroding effect on metals. 大家知道，盐对金属有很强的腐蚀作用。 Magnesium is found to be the best material for making flash light. 人们发现，镁是制造闪光灯的最好材料。

如果英语中某些要求宾语及宾语补语的 动词是被动语态，翻译时往往可在其前加 “人们”、“大家”、“我们”、“有 人”、“众人”等含有泛指性的词做主语。 例如：
1）With the development of modern electrical engineering, power can be transmitted to wherever it is needed.
随着现代化电气工程的发展，人们能把电 力输送到所需要的任何地方。
2）But Japan spent roughly $3 billion, and is considered the international leader in most optic fields.
但日本却花费了约30亿美元，人们认为它 在光学的大多数领域居国际领先地位。
有催化剂时，反应速度的加快叫做催化 作用。
当被动句中有地点状语，由介词“by”引导 的方式状语及“from”等表示的其它状语时， 有时可把这种状语译成主语，将介词省略， 而把原主语译成宾语，这样，就更符合汉 语的习惯。如：
