Grammar (P70-p72)1.think high of 对…评价高,与speak highly of 同义。
反义词组为:think little of 典例:(1)他高度评价了你。
(2)我们都认为这本书不怎么好。
2.Then we hurried into the theatre.hurry 用作动词,意为:匆忙,赶快。
典例:我们赶快,要不就迟到了。
3.The opera lasted for one and a half hours.这场歌剧持续了一个半小时。
last 用作动词,意思为:持续。
典例:花展持续了一周。
4.because, since 和as 表示原因。
(1)because 意为:因为,表直接而明确的原因或理由,即必然的因果关系。
在这三个词里面,它的语气最强。
回答用why引导的特殊疑问句时,只能用because 。
注意,because 不能与so 连用。
典例:-Why can’t you do this ?-Because I’m too busy.(2)since意思为既然,比as 正式,说明为人所知的原因,语气比because 稍弱。
典例:Since light travels faster than sound, we see lightning before we hear the thunder .(3)as 意为“因为,既然”,表示的原因和理由是很明显的,语气不如because 强。
当理由是明显的,或者被人认为是已知的时,则用as.典例:As it was getting very late, we soon turned back .5.out of breath 上气不接下气动词为breathe典例:Tommy 气喘嘘嘘的赶到了,他乘错了车。

名词性从句包括主语从句、表语从句、宾语从句和同位语从。
因为它们在复合句中的作用相当于名词,因此称为名词性从句,这些从句在句中分别作主语、表语、宾语和同位语。
本单元主要讲述that 的用法。
that 在名词性从句中不作任何成分,只起到连接作用。
1.主语从句(1)概念:在复合句中作句子主语的从句叫主语从句。
e.g. That she put on weight worried her a little.她发胖了这点使她发愁。
it 做形式主语。
