2010年英语试题重视考查考生对英语基础知识与技能的掌握情况，以及在具体情景中运用英语分析和解决问题的能力。同时，试卷也体现了时代性，把阅读能力作为主要考查内容，着重考查考生理解各种题材和体裁的书面材料的能力以及从各种材料中获取信息的能力。此外，书面表达着重考查考生运用所学的语言知识与技能进行信息沟通、再现生活经历的能力，并不是孤立地考查词汇和语法的掌握情况，给了考生更多自由发挥的空间。
