Good evening, everyone. The song you are listening to is Jingle Bells, one of the famous songs about a popular festive [ˈfestɪv] holiday. And now, you may know what the topic of my presentation is. Yes, Christmas. It gives me great pleasure to share what I know about Christmas with you by this presentation. My presentation is separated into three parts. The first part is History - The origin [ˈɒrɪdʒɪn] of Christmas. The second part is Tradition – What do people do in Christmas? And the last part is Extension – What else we can learn about Christmas?Firstly, let’s begin to the first part. The origin [ˈɒrɪdʒɪn] of Christmas.Christmas is one of the most festive holidays in many countries around the world. It is a Christian [ˈkrɪstʃən]holiday in memory of Jesus Christ’s [ˈdʒi:zəs kraist] birth and most people celebrate the day on December 25.In the lower left corner, the woman, who is holding a baby in her arms, is Saint [seɪnt] Mary. She is identified in the Bible [ðəˈbaibl] as the mother of Jesus [ˈdʒi:zəs], the founder of the Christian [ˈkrɪstʃən] religion [rɪˈlɪdʒən].And this picture is the scene [si:n] of Jesus’s birth. And the date he is born [bɔ:n] became Christmas day. Now, let’s move on to the second part. Tradition – What do people do in Christmas?I will describe this part in four sections. Decoration, Church [tʃə:tʃ] celebration, Special meal and Food, and Gift giving. For the first section: Decoration. These two pictures are outdoor decorations. And these two pictures are indoor decorations. Very beautiful, aren’t they? From these four pictures, you may find some symbolic [sɪmˈbɒlɪk] things of Christmas decoration.Like, Christmas tree.Christmas Tree mostly hanging lots of shiny and tiny things. Such as, Tinkle [ˈtɪŋkl] Bell, Christmas Balls, Stocking [stɔkɪŋ], Pine cone[pain kəun], and Tinsel[ˈtɪnsl]. And also has Christmas Star, Coloured Ribbon [ˈkʌləd ˈribən], Gift Box, Ornamental [ˈɔ:nəˈmentl] Lamp[læmp], and Wreat h [ri:θ].And another symbol [ˈsɪmbl] is Santa Claus [ˈsæntə klɔ:z] & His helpers. This is Santa Claus and his reindeer [ˈreɪndɪə(r)]. I think all of you are quiet familiar with them. But you may not know, there are some other Santa’s helpers, elves [elvz]. They help Santa to prepare gifts. And the second section is Church [tʃə:tʃ] Celebration. When Christmas coming, many Churches will be decorate with Christmas light. In the Christmas eve [i:v], people will go to the church for Mass. There are some ceremonies [ˈserəməni] hold in Church. Such as, the church choir [ˈkwaɪə(r)] singing. Here is the third section, Special meal and Food. People will unite with their families and have turkey [ˈtɜ:ki] dinner together. And also, there are some special shape [ʃeɪp] cookies and Stick of Candy. The last section of Tradition Part is Gift giving.People will exchange Christmas Cards with families and friends. To greeting and giving them best wishes. And parents will put the gifts under the Christmas Tree. And children will get up early in the Christmas’ morning and eager to open their gifts. As parents, if you want to make your children happy, you may know what they want to receive or you can buy many gifts for them. Otherwise, they will be upset like this, at that moment, you would be upset too. Some parents want to cheer up their children; they would like to dress up to be a Santa. Even though, you may dress like this guy.Be careful to act a Santa. In most of parents’ image, children are happy to meet Santa. The fact is some children are not happy to have a hug with Santa. Your child may react like this. Or this. Or this. See, he is trying to escape from Santa’s hug. However, if you want to buy gifts for your families or buy Santa’s outfit, you may need to line up for a long time. Bring your chair, or tent [tent], sleep over at the super market. The tougher time is the super market open, want to buy some gifts? Be strong. No matter for your children or for yourself, prepare stockings. Maybe Santa will stop by and stuff some gifts in it.If you don’t have such pretty stockings, don’t worry, at least you can do like this. But in respect to Santa, make sure those socks are clean. The last part of my presentation is what else we can learn about Christmas?Do you know w hich one of the reindeer is the Santa’s leader reindeer? And w hat’s his name? The answer is Rudolf [ˈru:dɔlf], the Red-nosed reindeer. Why Rudolf can be the leader of those reindeer?Rudolf is the one and only with the red-nosed reindeer. He felt very embarrassed [ɪmˈbærəst]. All of the other reindeer joke him.A year of Christmas Eve, Santa Claus is ready to drive four healthy reindeer to give children gifts, at this time, a thick fog [θik fɔɡ] enveloped [ˈenvələʊp] the earth. Santa knows, in this kind of weather is unable to find any chimney [ˈtʃɪmni].Suddenly, Rudolf appeared, his red nose seemed brighter than ever. Santa Claus immediately realized that his problem solved. He took Rudolf to lead. Rudolf with Santa Claus arrived safely to each chimney. Santa Claus told everyone that Rudolf saved Christmas that year. So, Rudolf became the most famous reindeer. Although Rudolf became a hero, he is still a shy reindeer! And here are some famous songs about Christmas. Such as “Santa Clause is Coming to Town”, “White Christmas” and so on.Well, that is all of my presentation. Thank you very much for listening. And Merry Christmas!。
