The ethical judgments of the Supreme Court justices have become an important issue
recently. The court cannot 1(B.maintain)its legitimacy as guardian of the rule of law
2(A.when) justices behave like politicians. Yet, in several instances, justices acted
in ways that 3(B.weakened)the court’s reputation for being independent and impartial.
Justice Antonin Scalia, for example, appeared at political events. That kind of
activity makes it less likely that the court’s decisions will be 4(D.accepted)as

Part ⅠClose Test
1.\[A\] other than不同于,除了„„ [B] as well as也,又(表示附加)
[C] instead of而不是„„(表选择) [D] more than比„„更多(表比较)
接着文章提到了两种正好相反的做法,一种是store a large quantity of grain(存储大量的粮食),另一种是consuming all his grain immediately(立即把他所有的粮食都消费完)。
I will stay at home instead of going out. 其他连接性介词还包括because of(因为),despite(尽管),besides(除了)等。
