2012优秀英语演讲稿范文500字这篇2012优秀英语演讲稿范文500字是笔者特地为大家整理的希望对大家有所帮助!let me begin my speech with a replay of scenes familiar to most, if not all, of those present here today.“mum, i’m sorry, but i need 3,000 yuan for my tuition this year.”“mum, it is my friend’s birthday tomorrow, i must buy her a present.”“mum, this jacket was out of fashion long ago, would you do me a favor? “take. take. take. the relationship between a mother and a child always seems to follow such a pattern.i know my mother is always there for me, providing me with everything i need; from food to clothing, from tuition to pocket money. i never thought twice about all she did until one day she said, “will there be a time that you’ll say you have taken enough from me?“like a child endlessly asking, we humans, throughout history, have been continually demanding what we desire from nature. we enjoy the comfort and beauty of our furniture, yet we never bother to think about the serious soil erosion caused by deforestation. we take it for granted that we must warm ourselves in winter times, yet we seldom realize the burning away of precious natural resources. we appreciate all the prosperity from the development of modern industry, yet few would give the slightest consideration to the global air and water pollution caused by industrial wastes. our ruthless exploitation has permanently impaired our mother earth. as we tragically learned from last summer’s floods. we cannot continue our carelessness.finally, standing here at the threshold of the 21st century, we cannot help thinking of our posterity. nature is not only the mother of the present generation, but also the mother of the generations to come. how severely our descendents will criticize us if we leave them a barren and lifeless mother? how much more theywill appreciate us if we give them a world of harmony to inherit? let us start respecting and caring for nature from now on. let us start the campaign of creating a mutually beneficial relationship between people and nature right from this moment. with this new start, i firmly believe, that our children, and our children’s children will live in a brand new age of green trees, clean air, crystal water, blue sky and an even more promising world!。
Is 2012 really the end of the worldGood evening, ladies and gentlemen:Have you ever seen the movie called “2012”? Do you still remember the spectacular scenes? Now let’s furbish up those classic moments. The 2012 originates from an ancient legend of Mayan civilization that the year of 2012 will be the end of the world. On 2012, the climate of everywhere suddenly appears extremely unusual, the destructive earthquake frightens human beings, the monstrous flood buries the whole earth and the world drops into an endless darkness. While the disaster and the panic quickly spread around the world, America performs a plan named Noah’s Ark to keep human civilization.Dear ladies and gentlemen, what does 2012 mean to you? A blockbuster? A number? Or Doomsday? How many of you really believe 2012 will be the end of the world? Please raise your hands. Let me count.I see, not many. Well, maybe we can comfort ourselves that movie is just an imagine of human. But we can’t deny the fact that various people believe the so-called 2012. Now look at the screen, why did a series of earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, droughts take place on our planet quite often lately? Just a coincidence? Or omens? Furthermore, the Mayan calendar predicted that the world will end on Dec. 21st, the year of 2012. The Mayans were extremely good at math and astronomy, and their prophecies such as the end of Mayan civilization has turned out to beprecise. So do you believe the doomsday now? However, there are also many non-believers who hold opposite views. Ladies and gentlemen, which point of view are you in favor? Dear judge teachers, what do you think? A noted philosopher once said, the soul of a prophecy doesn’t lie in the representation but the process of changing. Anyway, it makes nonsense to figure out what is true or what is not true, or worry about the unknown. Ladies and gentlemen, no matter you believe it or not, I hope we can view the year of 2012 as an opportunity, an opportunity to separate ourselves from the busy life and get to care for others. Could we spare some time to love and care about our earth mother, who was left out in the cold? Just like the busy parents occasionally take some time to stay with their children. Thank you!。

Armstrong, starts with the basics: reading and writing. In his opinion, reading doesn‟t just mean recognizing each word on the page; it means taking a sandwich and makes it a part of himself. The goal is to bring the information back to life, not just to treat it as dead facts on paper from dead trees. Reading and writing cannot be completely separated from each other; in fact, the aim of reading is to express the information you have got from the text. I‟ve seen it again and again:someone who can‟t express an idea after reading a text is just as ineffective as someone who hasn‟t read it at all.63. According to Armstrong, the goal of reading is to________.A. gain knowledge and expand one‟s viewB. understand the meaning between the linesC. express ideas based on what one has readD. get information and keep it alive in memory4. 本末倒置(2009年四川卷E篇)One might get a bit more energy out of the ethanol(乙醇)than that used to make it, which could still make ethanol more sustainable(可持续的)than gas generally, but that‟s not the end of the problem. Using corn to make ethanol means less corn is left to feed animals and people, which drives up the cost of food. That result leads to turning the fallow land (闲置土地)—including, in some cases, rain forest in places such as Brazil —into farmland, which in turn gives off lots of carbon dioxide(CO2)into the air. Finally, over many years, the energy benefit from burning ethanol would make up for the forest loss. But by then, climate change would have progressed so far that it might not help.57. What might directly cause the loss of the forest according to the text?A. The growing demand for energy to make ethanol.B. The increasing carbon dioxide in the air.C. The greater need for farmland.D. The big change in weather.5. 以偏概全(2010年山东卷D篇)An increase in students applying to study economics at university is being attributed to (归因于)the global economic crisis awakening a public thirst for knowledge about how the financial system works.Applications for degree courses beginning this autumn were up by 15% this January, according to UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. A spokesman for the Royal Economic Society said applications to do economics at A-level were also up.75. What‟s the main idea of the text?A. Universities have received more applications.B. Economics is attracting an increasing number of students.C. College students benefit a lot from economic uncertainty.D. Parents are concerned with children‟s subject selection.5、有选择地精读部分优秀篇章的可行性分析Unit 2Part A Reading ComprehensionDiana Jacobs thought her family had a workable plan to pay for college for her 21-year-old twin sons: a combination of savings, income, scholarships, and a modest amount of borrowing. Then her husband lost his job, and the plan fell apart.“I have two kids in college, and I want to say …come home,‟ but at the same time I want to provide them with a good education,” says Jacobs. The Jacobs family did work out a solution: They asked and received more aid from the schools, and each son increased his borrowing to the maximum amount through the federal loan program. They will each graduate with $20,000 of debt, but at least they will be able to finish school. With unemployment rising, financial aid administrators expect to hear more families like the Jacobs. More students are applying for aid, and more families expect to need student loans. College administrators are concerned that they will not have enough aid money to go around. At the same time, tuition continues to rise. A report from the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education found that college tuition and fees increased 439% from 1982 to 2007, while average family income rose just 147%. Student borrowing has more than doubled in the last decade.“If we go on this way for another 25 years, we won‟t have an affordable system of higher education,” says Patrick M. Callan, president of the center. “The middle class families have been financing it through debt. They will send kids to college whatever it takes, even if that means a huge amount of debt.”Financial aid administrators have been having a hard time as many companies decide that student loans are not profitable enough and have stopped making them. The good news, however, is that federal loans account for about three quarters of student borrowing, and the government says that money will flow uninterrupted.1. According to Paragraph 1, why did the plan of Jacobs family fail?A. The twins wasted too much money.B. The father was out of work.C. Their saving ran out.D. The family fell apart.2. How did the Jacobs manage to solve their problem?A. They asked their kids to come home.B. They borrowed $20,000 from the school.C. They encouraged their twin sons to do part-time jobs.D. They got help from the school and the federal government.3. Financial aid administrators believe that ____.A. more families will face the same problem as the JacobsB. college tuition fees will double soonC. the government will receive more letters of complaintD. America‟s unemployment will fall4. What can we learn about the middle class families from the text?A. They blamed the government for the tuition increase.B. Their income remained steady in the last decade.C. They will try their best to send kids to college.D. Their debts will be paid off within 25 years.5. According to the last paragraph, the government will ____.A. provide most students will scholarshipsB. dismiss some financial aid administratorsC. stop the companies from making student loansD. go on providing financial support for college students6.
Ladies and gentlemen,Good morning/afternoon. It is my great honor to stand before you todayto share my thoughts on the journey towards graduate school. As we all know, the path to graduate school is not an easy one. It requires dedication, perseverance, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge. Today,I want to talk about the power of perseverance and how it can drive usto achieve our dreams.Firstly, let us acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead. The journeyto graduate school is filled with obstacles, such as rigorous coursework, demanding research projects, and the pressure to maintain a high GPA. It is easy to become overwhelmed and question whether we are on the right track. However, it is during these moments of doubt that perseverance becomes our greatest ally.Perseverance is the unwavering commitment to continue despite setbacks and failures. It is the strength that enables us to rise above adversity and push forward towards our goals. In the words of George Washington Carver, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." And education, especially at the graduate level, is a journey that demands perseverance.Consider the story of Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb. It took him over a thousand failed attempts to perfect his invention. When asked about his failures, Edison famously replied, "I have not failed.I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." This mindset is atestament to the power of perseverance. It is not about the number of failures we encounter, but about how we respond to them. Now, let's delve into some practical strategies to cultivate perseverance:1. Set Clear Goals: Begin by defining your long-term and short-term goals. What do you hope to achieve with your graduate degree? How willit contribute to your career and personal growth? Having a clear vision of your goals will keep you motivated and focused on the path ahead.2. Build a Strong Support System: Surround yourself with individuals who believe in your dreams and are willing to support you through thick and thin. This could include family, friends, mentors, or even study groups. Remember, you do not have to undertake this journey alone.3. Develop a Routine: Establish a daily routine that incorporates study time, exercise, and relaxation. Consistency is key to maintaining productivity and reducing stress. By creating a balanced routine, you can ensure that you are taking care of your physical and mental well-being.4. Embrace Failure as a Learning Opportunity: Understand that failure is an inevitable part of the learning process. Instead of seeing it as a defeat, view it as a stepping stone to success. Analyze what went wrong, learn from your mistakes, and apply that knowledge to your future endeavors.5. Stay Positive and Motivated: Keep a positive mindset by reminding yourself of the reasons why you started this journey. Reflect on the progress you have made and the milestones you have achieved. This will help you stay motivated and focused on your goals.6. Seek Help When Needed: Do not hesitate to ask for help when you encounter difficulties. Whether it is seeking clarification from a professor, joining a study group, or seeking counseling services, reaching out for assistance is a sign of strength, not weakness.7. Balance Work and Personal Life: It is crucial to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Take time to engage in activities that you enjoy and that help you relax. This will prevent burnout and ensure that you are at your best when it matters most.As we navigate the challenging path to graduate school, let us remember the words of Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." It is a journey that will test our resilience, but it is also a journey that will transform us into better individuals and professionals. In conclusion, the power of perseverance is undeniable. It is thedriving force that will carry us through the trials and tribulations of graduate school. By setting clear goals, building a strong support system, embracing failure, staying positive, seeking help, and maintaining a balance between work and personal life, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve our dreams. To all the graduate school aspirants here today, I urge you to embrace the power of perseverance. Believe in yourselves, stay committed to your goals, and never give up. The world is waiting for the knowledge and expertise that you will bring to it. Together, let us make our mark and create a brighter future.Thank you.。

A team of researchers working together in the laboratory would submit the results of their research to a journal. A journal editor would then remove the authors’ names and affiliations from the paper and send it to their peers for review. Depending on the comments received, the editor would accept the paper for publication or decline it. Copyright rested with the journal publisher, and researchers seeking knowledge of the results would have to subscribe to the journal. No longer. The Internet –and pressure from funding agencies, who are questioning why commercial publishers are making money from government-funded research by restricting access to it – is making access to scientific results a reality. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has just issued a report describing the far-reaching consequences of this. The report, by John Houghton of Victoria University in Australia and Graham Vickery of the OECD, makes heavy reading for publishers who have, so far, made handsome profits. But it goes further than that. It signals a change in what has, until now, been a key element of scientific endeavor. The value of knowledge and the return on the public investment in research depends, in part, upon wide distribution and ready access. It is big business. In America, the core scientificpublishing market is estimated at between $7 billion and $11 billion. The International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers says that there are more than 2,000 publishers worldwide specializing in these subjects. They publish more than 1.2 million articles each year in some 16,000 journals. This is now changing. According to the OECD report, some 75% of scholarly journals are now online. Entirely new business models are emerging; three main ones were identified by the report’s authors. There is the so-called big deal, where institutional subscribers pay for access to a collection of online journal titles through site-licensing agreements. There is open-access publishing, typically supported by asking the author (or his employer) to pay for the paper to be published. Finally, there are open-access archives, where organizations such as universities or international laboratories support institutional repositories. Other models exist that are hybrids of these three, such as delayed open-access, where journals allow only subscribers to read a paper for the first six months, before making it freely available to everyone who wishes to see it. All this could change the traditional form of the peer-review process, at least for the publication of papers.1. In the first paragraph, the author discusses[A]the background information of journal editing.[B]the publication routine of laboratory reports.[C]the relations of authors with journal publishers.[D]the traditional process of journal publication.2. Which of the following is true of the OECD report?[A]It criticizes government-funded research.[B]It introduces an effective means of publication.[C]It upsets profit-making journal publishers.[D]It benefits scientific research considerably.2. 1) Directions:Write an essay of 160–200 words based on the following drawing. As (it) is vividly revealed in the drawing above, two disabled people, who have lost one leg, support each other, desert their walking sticks, and experience the ups and downs of the world together. What is indicated in the drawing reflects a fact and is most thought-provoking.The implied meaning of the drawing can be interpreted in terms of mutual help, cooperation and teamwork. To begin with, mutual help is badly needed in our social life. As social beings, people depend on each other in our life, work and study. As an average individual, each person has both his shortcoming and merits. Only by way of mutual assistance can we overcome our own shortcomings and realize our self-value and dream. What’s more, cooperation and teamwork are essential in our social work and the building-up of our harmonious society. With the rapid development of science and economy, people are increasingly feeling the power of mutual help and cooperation. The construction of a bridge, a building, a dam, a spacecraft and other projects can not be achieved without the joint efforts and individual sacrifice. In short, we need to realize that neither our society nor our personal life can be separated from mutual assistance, cooperation and teamwork. In my view, some necessary measures should be taken to make people realize ―United, we stand, divided, we fall.‖ First of all, an education campaign should be launched to educate people on the importance of mutual help and cooperation. In addition, more relavant activities should be created for young people to cultivate the sense of mutual help, cooperation and teamwork. Only in these ways can we build up a harmonious society.(276 words) As is vividly betrayed in the photo above, four people are making joint efforts in a boat race. All of them cooperate and spare no effort to win success. What is indicated in the picture above reflects a common sense and is most thought-provoking.The implied meaning of the picture above can be interpreted in terms of cooperation and teamwork. To begin with, the sense of cooperation must be cultivated among us. As social beings, people depend on each other in our daily life, work and study. The realization of self-value is closely related to unity and cooperation. It is well-known that ―United we stand, divided we fall‖. Wh at’s more, the spirit of cooperation and teamwork is badly needed in the building-up of a harmonious society. As we know, the social development is based on the contribution and cooperation of every citizen. The spirit of cooperation and teamwork benefits both our social harmony and each individual. And sincere cooperation will surely bring us the prosperity of a nation. In short, it is essential for us to be aware of the importance of cooperation and teamwork.Take Shenzhou and Chang’e space-crafts for example. Both of the projects are demanding tasks. The research and experiment work is permeated with the spirit of cooperation and sacrifice. Without such cooperation and sacrifice, the success of the two space-crafts would not be achieved. In sum, the sense of cooperation and teamwork should take roots in our minds.(241 words)四、考研是一场计划战1.
