It’s my great honor and pleasure to be here to share my lesson with you.I have been ready to begin this representation with seven parts: analysis of the teaching materials, analysis of the students, teaching aims, focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty, teaching procedure, teaching methods and the last one after class reflection.Part 1 Teaching MaterialThe content of my lesson is Modul8 Advance with English__ Unit3 the world of colors and light. This unit is about a travel to visit famous artists._ (topics). By studyin g of this unit, we’ll enable students to know information about some artists, museums, as well as different types of paintings, and develop the interest in reading travelogue and appreciating masterpieces. Therefore, this lesson is in the important position of this unit. If the Ss can master it well, it will be helpful for them to learn the rest of this unit.Part2 Analysis of the students.Students of grade 2 in senior high school are still very interested in unknown things and they are eager to acquire new knowledge to broaden their horizon. What’s more, each of them has different hobby, character and level of learning. So, I will employ different methods and a variety of activities to attract their attention and gain their classroom participation.Part 3 Teaching AimsAccording to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus (新课程标准和教学大纲), and after studying the teaching material, the teaching aims are the followings:1. the objectives of knowledge.1) learn to read a travelogue with the help of the space order and the time order.2. the objectives of integrated skills.1) help students set up effective travelogue strategies.2) develop students’ability of listening to the tape, reading a travelogue, talking about one master they are most impressed by and writing down his or her feelings about one master.3.the objectives of emotion.1)develop an interest in world-famous artists and their masterpieces.2)learn to make conversations with partners to talk about one’s favorite artist.Part 4 focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty Based on the requirement of the syllabus.The focus of the lesson is the reading strategy of how to read a travelogue.The predicted area of difficulty is help students have a general and then a deeper understanding of the agenda of LiMing’s trip.Part 5 Teaching ProcedureMy teaching procedure will be divided into three parts: pre-reading, while-reading and post-reading.Pre-reading.Step 1. Lead-in. ( 5 mins)Show some paintings to students, including oil painting, still life painting, portrait, watercolor paintings and so on, and then ask students to identify the types of those paintings.Purpose of my design: (1) to catch Ss’ attention about the class/topic/passage.(2) To develop interest in artistic works.Step2. skimming. (class work; ___1__min)Give students questions about the purpose of the trip and how long did the trip last for and ask them to read text quickly to find the answer.Step3 (class work; ___3__min)Ask students some questions about each museum, which city, which country are they in? which masters did they visit?Purpose of my design: (1) to grasp the general information about the text.(2) To have a better understanding about the importance of skimming and scanning.While-reading(input)Task 1.listen to the tape. (Individual work ___5__min)(develop ability of reading.) Task 2 intensive reading.(15mins)(grasp detailed information)1)F iling blanks: exercise is based on the part of Picasso museum.2)A nswering questions: exercise is based on the part of louver museum and museed’orsay.3)C ompetition: give students some phrases, ask them to use these phrases to talkabout van gogh, his masterpieces and also van gogh museum.Task 3. Read the text again and divide the task into several parts and find out the main idea for each part.(1 min)(help students to make clear of the structure of the text.)Purpose of my design: Enable students to understand the given material better by using different reading skills. And p roper competition can arouse the Ss’ interest inEnglish learning. “Task-based” teaching method is used here to develop the Ss’ ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained. Post-reading(output)Task 1. (Individual work __3___min)Ask Ss to close books and retell the general agenda of LiMing’s trip.Task 2. (pair work __5___min)Since this year is the 40th anniversary of Picasso’s death, the young radio in Nanjing normal university plans to make a speech about Picasso and other famous artists. Suppose you are a report. Interview your classmates and your schoolmates and ask them about one master they are most impressed by.Summary(2 mins)Before the class is over, I will make a very brief summary about what we have learned today.Homework1.find more information about your favorite artist.2.write a report about your favorite artist.Purpose of my design: Homework is so important and necessary for to master the knowledge they learned after class. It will check whether the Ss achieve the teaching aims.Part 6 Teaching MethodsAs is known to us all, a good teaching method requires that the teacher should help Ss develop good sense of the English language. For achieving these teaching aims, (after the analysis of the teaching material and teaching aims,) I will use the following methods according to the modern social communication teaching theories(现代社会交际教学理论) .municative Approach(交际教学法)2.Whole Language Teaching(整体语言教学法)3.Task-based Language Teaching (任务教学法)4.Total Situational Action (情景教学) a “scene —activity”teaching method , itestablishes a real scene and the interaction between the teacher and the Ss. At the same time, CAI (电脑辅助教学) can provide a real situation with its sound and picture, it can develop the Ss creativity in learning English.Part7 After class reflection.This is the only part to be finished after a lesson. Very often, teaching does not follow exactly what we plan and unexpected things happen during the lesson. I will keep a brief account of what happened in the lesson, which may include feelings about thelesson, students’ performan ces, unexpected incidents, surprises, things that went well, things that went wrong and things to be improved or things to be given more attention in the second period of reading.。
