I just know a bit more about guqin. The instrument gugin is also named seven- stringed qin( 七弦

琴 ) or sitong( 丝桐 ) This ancient instrument is indispensable in Chinese intellectual history. Guqin

playing was mainly practiced by noblemen and scholars in intimate settings, and was therefore never

intended for public performance. Besides, the guqin was one of the four arts, along with calligraphy,

painting and Go, an ancient form of chess, which Chinese scholars were expected to master. In 2008

guqin and its music was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of

Humanity by UNESCO. Nese Chinese people have a rich tradition of endowing art forms with spiritual

pursuit. One example traditional Chinese paintings of pine, bamboo and plum, which are called the

"Three Friends in Winter" because they all thrive in winter days, just like friends who cherish the same

ideals of welcoming the advent of the spring. Therefore, they often appear in traditional Chinese

paintings. symbolizing the noble characters esteemed and pursued by Chinese people. Another

example is the game of Go which originated in China and is believed to be the oldest board game

continuously played to the present day. Chinese people believe that playing Go can cultivate one's

temperament and build up the character of perseverance and calmness.
