Lesson 6 Stay Away from the Hospital

1. Analysis of the Students

The students of Grade 9 have mastered certain vocabularies,expressions and

structures. They also have the abilities of self-teaching and working in groups.

Most of them are willing to express their opinions in English.

2. Analysis of Teaching Content

Lesson 6 is the sixth lesson in Unit 1, Book 5.This unit focus on the subjectstaying

healthy. Students cares about the subject because it is close to everyone. Lesson

6 mainly talks about Danny had appendicitis, the doctor told Danny to drink plenty

of water and have a good rest.As we all know, We should try to form good habits.

【知识目标】

1. To master the new words: appendicitis, appendix, sleepy, mention.

2. To master the sentence patterns:

1)The doctor took it out!

2〕My doctor said I had a fever.

3〕I’m sorry to hear that you were sick this week.

in the hospital “在医院工作,或探望病人〞

sleepy作形容词,意为“困倦的、瞌睡的、安静的、冷清的〞,在句中作定语或表语。

now that为连词词组,意为“既然,由于〞,用来引导状语从句。在原因状语从句中,now that和since意义相近,都表示“既然,因为〞,但语气较弱,强调人们的事实。

mention为及物动词,意为“提到,写到〞,后接名词或代词。mention sb.提到某人,mention

sth.提到某事,not to mention更不用说。

One of her teeth was rotten, so she had to go to the dentist.

one of…意为“……中之一〞。one of后的名词要用复数形式,形容词要用最高级,one of…在句子中作主语时,谓语动词要用第三人称单数形式。

I think we should try hard to form good habits so that we can stay healthy and stay

away from the hospital!

so that意为“以便,为了,目的是〞,用来引导目的状语从句,常和can, could,,may,,might等情态动词连用。so that还可用来引导结果状语从句,意为“结果,以至于,因此〞。

so…that…意为“如此……以至于……〞,so后接形容词或副词原级。
