(1) 拿到题目,仔细阅读,掌握题意;

1】 Should University Students Go in for Business? (430 words)

There are two opposite views on university students' trying their hands at business. One is that

doing business helps to adapt better to society after graduation, while the other says it might

occupy too much of the students' time and energy which, in turn, has a negative impact on their

academic study. To my mind, as long as we can strike a balance between doing business and

studying successfully, its benefits far outweigh the disadvantages.

First of all, going in for business may help us put what we have learned to practice. In fact,

doing business is not that easy as we have expected. It requires good communication skills,

negotiation knacks, presentation capabilities and so forth. Although we can learn all these from

textbooks, they are theoretical only, and the real situations are much more complicated. Only

when we put knowledge into practice can we capture its essence and grasp the skills better. That is

also why at present, more and more universities emphasize the importance of practice in the process of learning. If it is the case and meanwhile we are provided with the chance to do business

ourselves, why should not we have a try?

In addition, doing business may help us fit into society soon after graduation. As we know, it

takes considerable time to grow from an innocent student to a reliable employee. The earlier we

are able to adjust to the business environment of society, the better it will be for our future career

development. Negotiating a deal, making a trade, and running a shop -- all these will not only

provide new insights into the world outside the ivory tower but also brighten up the resumes of

those marketing, finance and economy majors. At the same time, when we are seeking for a

working position in society, this experience may tell us whether we are fit to do business, where

we are strong and where we are weak.

What is more, doing business can enrich our campus life. Campus life is not limited to

academic study. It offers a lot of spare time for extracurricular activities. If we can use our leisure

time to do what we enjoy, such as running a small business, without neglecting our schoolwork, it

will surely make our campus life more colorful and meaningful.

In the final analysis, students going in for business has more positive affect than its negative

one. Provided that they shuttle flexibly between doing business and attending class, even if its

risks, students can also use their experience, wisdom, and creativity to meet the various

challenges.

【范文2】 Should University Students Go in for Business? (458 words)

According to a press report, a few second- and third-year university students decided to try

their hands at business and opened some small shops near their university. The decision provoked

opposing responses from their teachers and classmates. Some hold that this experience would give

them the edge in future competition after graduation, while others argue that it might hinder their

academic pursuit. From my point of view, university students should not plunge into business

without sufficient preparation.

To begin with, university students may not be able to run the shop smoothly without relevant

knowledge and experience. Doing business is a very complicated and demanding job. Different

from selling our own belongings in the flea market, running a shop requires careful consideration

and preparation in many aspects. We must pinpoint our customer's needs, stock the goods,

advertise the shop, and keep accounts and so on. Obviously, to be successful, we should at least

possess some financial and marketing knowledge, negotiation and sales skills. If we have not

equipped ourselves with any of the knowledge and skill before running a shop, going in for

business is just as foolish as trying to dive without knowing how to swim.

Moreover, university students usually cannot afford to lose with limited finances. There is no

denying that doing business involves high risks because of unexpected changes and fierce
