【范⽂】9⽉24⽇雅思写作⼤作⽂解析及范⽂2016年9⽉24⽇雅思⼤作⽂题⽬City dwellers seldom socialize with their neighbors today and the sense of community has been lost. Why has this happened and how to solve this problem?

Personally, the demerits of economic blossom can be offset by its merits. Body 1Generally,the prosperity of economy contributes positively not only to people’s material in daily lives but the spiritual enrichment. Materially, economic development serves as an indispensable catalyst for creating jobs, mitigating poverty. Accordingly, people can afford better clothing and footwear, enjoy a rich feast of all delicacies, live in spacious houses as well as get the latest electronic gadgets. Meanwhile, thanks to fatter tax collections as the economy recovers, strides can be made by the government in perfecting social welfare system and enhancing infrastructure. Mentally, when citizens get satisfaction in matter life, highly civilized spiritual life has become what people pursue. In the past, never would the general public imagine going to a movie, a concert or a museum, but now, with abundant materials benefited from economic growth, such cultural consumption can be easily accessible. 减轻,缓和;a feast of 丰盛的;delicacy n. Body 2Undeniably, accelerated economic development is a chief culprit for the erosion of some important social values. Primarily, economic development render people more rapacious financially , which occasions excessive exploitation of natural resources with a view to satiating the infinite needs of industrial production. Sadly, many people, when lured by colossal economic incentive, would turn a blind eye to the environmental deterioration. Worse still, economic accumulation would tempt people to seek other irrational excuses to obtain materialistic satisfaction which includesluxuries like fancy handbags and limousines with whopping price. In this case, the weight on economic prosperity and consumerism , a devastating blow to traditional values such as frugality, is bound to shape a money-oriented society . 节约be bound to 势必会ConclusionTo recapitulate, notwithstanding the disadvantage economic development gives rise to in disintegrating certain social values, by apportioning resources , the government can strike a balance between economic development and the retention of the cultural identities.
Many criminals continue to commit crimes even after being punished for it. Why do you think this happen? How can we solve this problem? IntroductionA mushrooming number of criminals, after being released from the jail, will revert to crime, exerting ceaseless baneful influence on the social harmony and stability. Behind such a ticklish problem, from my perspective, are two predominant factors and viable solutions are in desperate need to avert the bleak future. Body 1The chief culprit for re-offending would be the difficulty for the criminals to settle down and reintegrate into the society. Indisputably, one of the root causesfor anti-social behaviors is poverty, by which I mean living odds force some people to embark on a path of delinquency to support themselves by engaging in illegal activities such as stealing, larceny and the like. After being freed from the prison, with a criminal record, never would it be easy for the law-breakers who lack livelihood skills to secure a job and become economically independent. Another contributing factor for such a worrying trend has much to do with the psychology condition of the criminals. Suffering from improper treatment, be it physical punishment or verbal aggression, many offenders, when set free from the prison, are inundated with resentment instead of visions of life, for which they, running after revenge, are apt to fall back into perpetrating crimes. 语言攻击;embark on a path of delinquency v. 盗窃;be inundated with v. 复仇;are apt to v. Body 2Prickly as the issue is, steps can be taken to address this . Primarily, the government should play a leading role by enacting tougher laws and carrying out more severe penalties such as heavier fines or longer sentences for offenders toaccomplish the purpose of deterrence. The authorities should also polish the effectiveness of imprisonment with the aim to help criminals achieve rehabilitation. To specify, job-related training targeted at those released offenders are staunchly suggested, which enables them to be furnished with some employment abilities, be they a plumber, a hairdresser or a driver. In this case, they can be, in large part, encouraged to live a normal life rather than violate the law for survival. Efforts from family members, friends and the society are also indispensable to cure the mental disorders. To elaborate, showing enough respect and helping those ex-prisoners to find a job are great tender solicitude. The general public and the whole society should be made to believe are formed man deserves a new leaf. 强烈地;be furnished with v. ConclusionIn conclusion, the problem for ex-prisoners to resort to offence, notwithstanding its gravity, can be brought under control with both the government and the public shouldering joint responsibility. 2There are a variety of punishments for criminals, including imprisonment, fines, and community service. However, even after serving their sentences, a significant proportion of ex-prisoners continue to commit crimes. This essay will explore the reasons behind this and propose solutions.

Never before was travelling to alien countries so convenient and popular as in this century. This phenomenon is partiallyattributed to improved technology and cheap flight tickets. Facing this travel frenzy, some are concerned that it will bring about too many side effects whilst others insist that is should be supported and maintained.

The number of people choosing to live by themselves has increased rapidly in recent years. Why is this? And is it a positive or negative development for society?Personal space is always what some people are in pursuit of after suffering from tiredness from work or stress from study, and naturally a growing number of people begin to live alone, and hereby they believe the inner peace can be easily reached.
Primarily, our unprecedentedly noisy living environment is bothering most of people nowadays. There is no gainsaying that our life is surrounded by increasing noise, gradually resulting in huge mental stress to us. Besides, the fast-paced lifestyle makes people live under huge stress and high-tech devices push people into situation where they can be interrupted by all kinds of information moment by moment. Struggling in all those, some people consequently find out a way to escape from all those adversities, a shelter that only belongs to themselves.

【1】Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?Businesses should do anything they can to make a profit.Model Answer:I do not agree with the statement that businesses should do anything they can to make a profit. I state my opinion on the following points.First of all, every company must have its moral code. It means that a company should treat its clients properly and respect their rights. Of cause a company may lose a part of its profit but security of its clients must be on the first place. Otherwise, clients will switch to another company and never be back. For instance, a few years ago "Jonson&Jonson" produced a new type of painkillers. Unfortunately, this product was not tested properly. As a result of this many people died and received injures. The president of the company made a crucial decision to call back all painkillers from all distributors and pay to all injured customers for their treatment. It cost a lot of money for the company but it saved its image and clients. It was a very difficult decision, but the president of the company understood that it would cost him even more in the future because he would not be able to return clients' respect. Loosing customers means for a company loosing its profit.Second of all, in order to succeed in the modern world companies have to compete with each other. Many companieslose their profit decreasing prices on their products. They do not aspire for extra profit but for clients' satisfaction. Companies do it because they want their products sold and their customers satisfied. They offer discounts, free delivery, free service, free Internet access, good return service, etc. All these are done to make their old customers happy and attract new clients. To sum up, I think a company, which the only goal is profit will not succeed nowadays. Otherwise, companies that respect their clients and want to see them satisfied will make a fortune.
Trade and travel would be a lot easier with a single, global currency that we all use.Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Would a single currency cause any problems? It is clear to me that the idea of a single global currency is an excellent ideal to work towards. There can be no doubt that trade and travel would be vastly easier. On the other hand I believe that it would cause problems today. The benefits of a single currency can be seen with the use in Europe of the Euro. Whenever you are travelling between countries using the Euro, the problems of currency changing and exchange rates are history. Similarly business between countries using the Euros is so much easier; no more worrying about exchange rate risk and pricing. Everyon e‛s money is the same. The same thing is true with the US dollar. Most countries do not use the US dollar but it is accepted in many places. There are many countries that you can travel to and just take US dollars to use.At present though a global currency would be impossible. Firstly most countries would not accept the idea. Secondly all countries are in different economic states. Some are economically very strong and some are in a state of collapse with inflation ruining the economy. Such countries could not be brought into a world currency as it would cause massive financial instability worldwide. So it is clear that a global currency would indeed cause some serious problems. So, in conclusion I see a global currency as a future ideal but it will not happen in my lifetime. It would make trade and travel much easier but the problems it would cause nowadays would be insurmountable.

Some people think it is more important to spend public money on roads and motorways than on public transport system such as railways and trams. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Taxes play a vital role in funding public services andensuring societal well-being. While some people arguefor keeping all the money earned and question thenecessity of paying taxes to the state, I disagree with thisopinion.Admittedly, individuals with low ines can retain allthe money they earn, which is a mon policy adoptedby many countries worldwide. This is to ensure everymember of society has the money to meet their basicsurvival needs. However, when a person s inesurpasses a certain threshold, they should fulfill theirobligation of paying taxes to the state. One primary reason for paying taxes is that governmentsneed money to maintain criticalinfrastructure andprovide public services. Education, healthcare.transportation, and public safety are all supported by taxrevenue. Since cities have changed a lot, the size of the cities has grown enormously. Discuss the causes and consequence of the enormous size of cities.Nowadays, the maps of cities are updated frequently. With the development of city, more and more suburbs become parts of the city. When the cities in the world are amplifying constantly, people discuss the topic hotly, the causes and consequence of the enormous cities. Different people have different answers by their respective views. In my opinion, the evolution of society and the development of economy result in the growth of the vast size of cities. Since the number of population in every city is increasing continually, people need a large amount of space to live in. With the progress of the technology, the output of crops rises sharply. Fewer and fewer farmers are required, as a result, more and more villages urbanize. The growth of the cities brings us many huge changes. There are more job opportunities in the cities. For instance, China will hold the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. The government is amplifying the size of Beijing to build new gyms in order to hold it excellently. Obviously, people in the cities could gain a lot of new jobs.Of course, the enormous size of cities also has bad effects. Pollution is becoming more and more serious all over the world with the amplification of the cities. For example, the poisonous gas sent off by factories and automobiles has made the air unhealthy for people to breathe. Water waste keeps pouring into rivers and lakes; as a result, many water species are dying out. Furthermore, more people the city have, more rubbish we can find.In a word, since each coin has two sides, we should be acquainted clearly with the reasons why the size of the cities has grown enormously and what it will bring us. Thus, we could make full use of the positive effects and overcome the negative effects. Scientific and technological advances have changed our lives. But some scientists in some fields say that scientists are not able to find solutions to the problems they have created. To what extent do you agree or disagree?范文:We sure live differently from our parents did decades ago. The changes are wide and profound. At the same time, we are facing challenges and problems unknown in the past. Could we find solutions to problems created by scientific development? The answer seems to be no.Some of the most obviousproblems caused by technological advances lie in the IT industry. At a time when we did not have computers and electronic bank services, people took money with them and paid by cash. If they were stolen, only the amount they had with them was lost. But nowcreditcards are more commonly used in shopping malls and other places, crimes again us have become more serious and caused greater losses to people. A thief may tape the codeof your credit card and make a copy of it. Then he could safely withdrawall your money from an ATM machine. Crimes such as this are very stickyto solve because there is no witness and the surveillancecameras give little help to the police.Another example is the issueof information control with the media industry including TV networks and Internet that give easy access to information without discriminationto people’s age. This has created a huge problem for parents and schools because teenage people are particularly vulnerableto adult materials and information violent in nature. In the past, when most information came in the form of print, it was relativelyeasy to control what children read. When a parent put away a book unsuitablefor children, they were cut off from the source of information. With computer parents could use software to filterbad web sites but could not prevent new ones from appearing every day.People are working very hard to solve such problems that come along with advances in science and technology, but the efforts are not sufficientand not very successful. Even with the little progress we have achieved, we find ourselves defeatedby new problems with greater complexityand in wider scope. In conclusion, developments in many fields of our life have brought us both benefits and problems. Developments in the banking industry give us greater conveniencebut making us targets of computer-based theft. Changes in media industry exposeyoung people to inappropriate information difficult for parent’s control. However up until now, we have not successfully found permanentsolutions yet. Government should protect culture. Therefore, some people believe that new building should be built in traditional style. Do you agree or disagree?范文:The culture of a country changes in the course of social development. This is what is happening in developing nations such as China. Government has the obligation to preserve the culture of a country in a proper way.In the real-estate business, for example, developers build houses, apartments, and offices to meet the demands of consumers differing in tasteand spending power. Some buildings are built in traditional styleas a selling point to differentiate from competing products. In some cases, a municipalgovernment tries to give its city a unique aromaby constructing buildings in old style. However, such newly built “old” buildings appear strikinglydiffere nt from the originals centuries old. On the campus of PekingUniversity, we can easily tell the differences between the old and the new. Even we admirethe university’s efforts, this is not a work beautifully done. More examples would be found in many architectsthat are ridiculed by both consumers and critics. The real issue is: could culture be replicated? If yes, then to what extent do buildings representa culture? In China, the more commonly known architect styles are found in temples or palaces. Though the government tries to recreatesuch places, people often label them as fake.In spite of the disadvantagesin government’s efforts in cultural preservation, we have to recognize that such endeavorreminds people of their unique identity and legacy. And it balances the trend that tries to make everything western just to keep up with the trend. To sum up, it is very hard or sometimes impossible for the government to create truly good work in traditionalstyle to preserve a culture. Nonetheless, such efforts are worthy because of the positive influences they have on people in a country with rich history and culture like China. In most parts of the world, the volume of traffic is growing at an alarming rate. In the form of an assignment, discuss about the main traffic problems in your country, their causes and possible solutions. The progress of transport industry is inevitable and undeniable. What is under controversy is whether the volume of traffic is growing at an alarming rate. To be frank, I am in high favor that we are well aware of the traffic problem. In my point of view, a possible cause of the problem is that we lack the infrastructure construction. Also the overpopulation is the cause of this problem, especially in China. Although the growth of the transport is rapid, it still can not meet the increasing needs of people. Furthermore, people abuse the private cars to take public transport instead, which caused more cars put into use. Lastly, individuals are also responsible for this problem. People are lacking in consciousness and awareness for traffic situation in order. Sometimes, people drive after drinking, which causes more traffic accidents. The solution, I think, is for government to inject more funds into the construction of infrastructure, increase more construction, such as the restructuring of metro system, elevated ways, Pearl line, and superhighway. Also government should levy heavy tax on luxurious products, and encourage people to use bus service instead of private cars. To individuals, we may establish the family planning to control the growth of the population. Furthermore, we should publicize the importance of obeying the traffic regulations among people by education, and form the civil health lifestyle. To conclude, with the joint effort of people and governments, I am sure the traffic problems will be improved. Air transport is increasingly used to export types of fruits and vegetables to countries where those plants can’t grow or out of season. Some say it is a good thing, but others consider this use of air transport can’t be justified. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.范文:Air transport is commonly used to move fruits and vegetables to places where those farm products can’t grow or are out of season. The benefits of such business are obvious, but air transport also creates a number of problems.Transport of fruits and vegetables by air enablesconsumers to enjoy a wider variety of fresh and in-season farm products from all over the world. Not only is air transport good for consumers, it is also a blessingfor farmers because the market is no longer restricted by regions. As a result, air transport increases the sale volume by selling more products in more places. Moreover, air transport of food has now become a major resourceof incomes for air companies. In the past, air companies’ business mainly came from serving passengers. However, facing an increasingly tough market, air companies need to expandtheir share of market to serve a wider range of customers in order to stay in the game and make a profit. With a boomingeconomy and more money to spend, people create a great potential for food transport business and good margin for air companies. In spite of such benefits, air transport is not free of problems. One major issue is high cost. Air transport is probably the most expensiveway of transport. Higher costs entail high prices, which in turn deprive people with less money the opportunities to enjoy such privileges. So air transported food is now for the rich, a fact that is unfair for poor people. In addition, it is not the best option to solve problems by transporting food from outside for places where certain kinds of fruits does not grow. The most optimalway, it seems to me, is that we should change the environment required by such plants using scientificand biological methods such as creating suitable soil and temperature. Such solutions will be proven to be ultimately cost-effective and fundamental.More importantly, research indicates that air transport pollutes the environment. For example, Britain transports half its food by air. However one kilo New Zealand fruit emitsfive kilo warm house gas on its way to destination. Therefore, some environmental groups and books advocate people to distinguishlocal fruit and air-transported fruit in an effort to cut the pollution from food consumption. In conclusion, air transport has many benefits for consumers and farmers, but it also has problems such as high cost and pollution. More effective and environmental friendly solution should be found to addresssuch problems. Although it is a freedom to use tobacco while some people think it should be made illegal as thesame way as other drugs. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What’s your opinion?(Sample 1)It is an undeniable fact that using tobacco will be harmful to your health. Especially is an effective method to suicide for that group of addictive people. But I think it is not equal to other illegal drugs which should be forbidden although it has so many drawbacks.A colorless, poisonous alkaloid endanger lung and respiratory, derived from the tobacco plant and used as an insecticide,NICOTINE is the substance in tobacco to which smokers can become addicted, difficulty explaining the strange effect make people calm down. It is considered a good method to relax nerves in this society. All of the severe pressures like fierce competition, unemployment threat, and extravagant expenses almost make everyone collapsed from exhaustion. Like cats on the hot bricks, these poor human seek various methods to release themselves. It seems like a good way to indulged themselves with drinking and smoking, dippy with a confusedly condition. Few people stand in a firm position criticize its negative way because smoking would not make people lose mind and go to a dead lane, or disturb social system. .Different with cigarette, drugs not only lead to death, but also is a severe social problem needs to solve. In order to get a sudden huge profit, the mafia imposed on the druggy that need this narcotic extremely, to do illegal bargaining by any kinds of means. Selling drugs, murder, all of these would disturbance of the peace by criminal force from many countries, like Italian. Not only is this, the worst thing countless families destroyed, sadness and darkness around them. And that brings on instability and chaos to the society directly. All in all, the essential measurement is government should investment fund and labor force to reinforce legal system construction and social management. Impose penalty and improve social awareness and consciousness are the necessary condition. As for the private thing like smoking, we can do nothing except propaganda and education.(Sample 2)Medically, tobacco has been told distinguishingly from drugs. Nevertheless, there has been an on-going argument about whether or not tobacco should be made illegal as drugs. After close inspection, I would like to support the legalization of tobacco for the following reasons. The main reason is that tobacco is an absolutely different concept from drugs in terms of the toxicity. Drugs, such as heroin, can drive people who take it insane and out of mind. And the damage is both mental and physical. In contrast, despite all those tobacco-related diseased, tobacco do far less harm to people than drugs do. What’s more, in our daily life, many other things are doing potential damage to people. For instance, chemical detergent polluted the underground water and vegetable, causing the toxin accumulating in our body. Therefore, judging only by the number of diseases tobacco will bring won’t be a reasonable method; we can’t equate tobacco with drugs. In the second place, smoking has been part of life of many people. Most male smokers admit that they will get refreshed after taking a cigarette, especially when a hard work is just over. Some old people smoke just for relaxation and killing the time. Lao She, a famous Chinese litterateur, said that he wouldn’t have go t inspiration until smoking a cigarette. And, surprisingly, he has lived a long life of 92 years! It’s evident that the saying: smoking will shorten people’s life is unnecessarily true. What is still worth mentioning is that tobacco has been a pillar industry in some countries. For those economies, a majority of trade volume owe to the export of tobacco. Besides, the sum of taxes handed in by tobacco businesses is huge and can be used in the domestic instruction. Suppose that, some day, tobacco is forbidden and made illegal, which means a collapse of the gigantic industry and millions of laid-off workers. From what has been cited above, we may safely draw the conclusion that tobacco can never ever made illegal. However, there are still some efforts we can make: printing the words—smoking is harmful to your health—on the package of cigarette.。
Well, when it comes to learning a foreign language, there are some interesting viewpoints out there. Some folks think that the sole purpose of cracking open a language textbook is either to jet off on a holiday to afar flung land or to land a job overseas. But others are like, "Nah,there's more to it than that!" And I'm here to have a good old chat about both sides of this argument.
On one hand, those who believe that traveling or working abroad are the only reasons for learning a foreign language do have a point. Let's take travel first. Picture this: you're strolling down the cobbled streets of Paris, and instead of fumbling around with a phrasebook or relying on hand gestures, you can smoothly ask for a "croissant" or directions to theEiffel Tower in perfect French. It just makes the whole travel experience so much more enjoyable and immersive. When it comes to work, in our globalized world, many companies are expanding overseas. If you want to be part of that international business crew, being able to communicate in the local language of the target market is like having a golden ticket. For example, if you're a marketing guru aiming to sell products in Germany, knowing German can help you understand the local consumers better, create more appealing ads, and build stronger relationships with clients. It seems that for these practical matters, learning a foreign language is just a means to an end.
The charts below show the results of a questionnaire that asked visitors to the Parkway Hotel how they rated the hotel's customer service. The same questionnaire was given to 100 guests in the years 2005 and 2010.
The pie charts compare visitors’ responses to a survey about customer service at the Parkway Hotel in 2005 and in 2010.It is clear that overall customer satisfaction increased considerably from 2005 to 2010. While most hotel guests rated customer service as satisfactory or poor in 2005, a clear majority described the hotel’s service as good or excellent in 2010.Looking at the positive responses first, in 2005 only 5% of the hotel’s visitors rated its customer service as excellent, but this figure rose to 28% in 2010. Furthermore, while only 14% of guests described customer service in the hotel as good in 2005, almost three times as many people gave this rating five years later. With regard to negative feedback, the proportion of guests who considered the hotel’s customer service to be poor fell from 21% in 2005 to only 12% in 2010. Similarly, the proportion of people who thought customer service was very poor dropped from 15% to only 4% over the 5-year period. Finally, a fall in the number of ‘satisfactory’ ratings in 2010 reflects the fact that more people gave positive responses to the survey in that year.(193 words, band 9)饼图比较了访客对2005年和2010年百汇酒店客户服务调查的回应。
People think that old buildings should be knocked down and give way to the new buildings. Do you agree or disagree? How important are old buildings to us?
How to deal with old buildings has long been a tough problem facing city planners. It costs too much money to refurbish and maintain, and the city does need more area to construct new buildings. However, the government still has to resist the pressure from people who call for pulling them down and allocate funds to protect them.In the first place, we cannot afford to lose them, which are important in the flow of our culture through time. An old architecture helps people connect with the past and hence form their culture identity. For example, the old castles and churches in Britain tell local people what kind of lives their ancestors lived; the Forbidden City in Beijing, China, makes all Chinesepeople proud of their country. If the government fails to preserve those buildings, we will lose them forever. Even if we may rebuild them someday in the future, we cannot reproduce the history. As a result, our children can only learn history and culture through pictures. In the second place, the historical and traditional buildings will promote development of local tourism and hence local economy. In modern society, travel has become an impor tant part of people’s entertainment activities. The historical sites will attract numerous visitors, which not only ensures tickets revenue, but also means more business opportunities to local people. The coming visitors will take transportations, live in hotels, hire tour guides, buy souvenirs, and have dinner in restaurants. As a result, a series of job opportunities will be generated, so as to cater the needs of tourists. If the investment in the historical and traditional buildings achieves success, it will benefit people in the long term by a prosperous economy. To sum up, it is highly necessary for governments to preserve old buildings which are important for the protection of history and economic development.。

IntroductionNowadays, a panorama of traffic-laden roadways appears to stretch into infinity, with a high correlation to road injuries and even fatalities. To solve this conundrum, a simple investment in upgrading road networks and highways should be viewed as a long shot, while combined efforts with access to a well-integrated public transportation system should1be emphasized for more desirable upshots.

Besides, optimization of non-motor vehicle lane in CBD might be beneficial in dealing with increased complexity in road traffic due to the growing popularity of e-scooters and e-bikes. Nevertheless, the afore-mentioned antidotes are plainly futile attempts to catch up with soaring use of either petrol-fueled or electricity-fueled mobilities; an oblivion of either forthcoming autonomous automobiles or shrinking parking space is unlikely lift a city out of the congestion limbo.
Nowadays, not enough students choose science subjects in university in many countries. What are the reasons for this change? What are the effects on society?
IntroductionAccording to the latest figures, opting for science-oriented domains as college majors has seen a pronounced drop in many societies, a growing trend that upends conventional STEM preference. Several factors, some of which are unique to the cotemporary era, make1this vertiginous fall perpetuate.
Body 1The first of these is mounting uncertainty. Having a degree in IT simply may not be a springboard directly into career; frenetic work force expansion since dotcom mania two2decades ago has highlighted recent big job cuts at the tech industry, where behemoths like Google, Meta and Microsoft promised further trimming of labors for more funds into artificial intelligence investment. The second culprit is economic and academic barrier. Monstrously high expenses required for overseas education has kept straitened wannabes at bay, while those wealthy wannabes may find themselves lack of access to learning resources in most cutting-edge domains, notably wafer fabrication, generative modelling and chipmaking. The third factor is a greater percentage of people going back to college, as senior employees are becoming more and more agitated to finish a less demanding major —typically non-scientific—due to the workplace's inflation of academic qualifications.
Test 1Some people work for the same organisation all their working life. Others think that it is better to work for different organisations.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.1.For most people, when they get their first job they have little idea whether or not they will remain in the same organisation throughout their working life.2. If they decide to change, they need to consider how this will impact on their career overall.
3. People who stay with the same organisation will have the advantage of a thoroughly understanding how it works and also becoming familiar with the staff and processes.4. If they work hard, their promotion prospects are good and there is likely to be greater job security with a promise of a good pension when they retire.5. Employers value loyalty and may offer additional incentives to long-term employees, including bonuses and reward schemes.
6. However, one of the drawbacks of staying with the same organisations is that the person may get stuck doing the same job year after year.7. In some cases, this can lead to boredom and disillusionment.8. Moving from one organisation to another can be a strategic decision in order to have variety and acquire a range of skills and experience.9. A friend of my father started out as a sociology teacher, he then joined the Social Services and is currently managing a care home in Western Australia. 10. This has made him incredibly knowledgeable in a range of related fields and, in my view, has provided him with a much more interesting working life.
There are benefits to working for one organisation, I feel that it is also valuable for an employee to be able to offer a wide range of experience having worked for different companies. 12. As long as it is planned carefully, I feel that change is good and will ultimately benefit the employee and the employer.(281 words)两句话表达观点加结尾第11句,注意分词的用法,这是本句亮点。
One of the consequences of improved medical care is that people are living longer and life expectancy is increasing.Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?Over the past 50 years, people have become used to the idea that they will probably live longer than their grandparents did. However, a longer life is only desirable if you can look after yourself and be independent, otherwise there can be disadvantages for everyone. If you walk into a hospital in my country, you are likely to see a lot more elderly people than you did in the past. In fact, this is causing significant problems as there is a shortage of beds. Medical treatment is keeping the elderly alive, but at what cost to others? On top of this, one of the biggest medical problems these days is dementia. Even if old people are still fit, they may not be able to look after themselves. They may have to live with their children or be cared for in a home, which can be expensive. Elderly people do not like to be a burden, but their children can feel obliged to care for them.Obviously, not all old people become ill. Those who remain healthy can enjoy a happy old age as long as they have saved enough money. People are much more active in their sixties and seventies than they used to be and this can only be a good thing. They have time to enjoy their retirement and do a range of activities that then could not do when they were at work. They can also help look after their grandchildren, which is a great benefit for working parents. To sum up, I believe that we should aim to keep people as healthy as possible so that they can enjoy their old age without having to rely on others. A longer life expectancy is obviously advantageous, but no one wants to live to be 100 if they only cause problems for their family and society.(308 words)Car ownership has increased so rapidly over the past thirty years that many cities in the world are now ‘one big traffic jam’.How true do you think this statement is?What measures can governments take to discourage people from using their cars? Most people would agree that car ownership has increased in recent years and is causing a range of problems, particularly in build-up areas. I think there are a number of ways that governments can aim to deal with this. Many big cities in the world have traffic problems but these problems vary. For example, it is reasonably easy to drive around my city after 10 am and before 5 pm. However, outside these hours, you have to allow double the usual time to reach your destination. In some other cities, traffic is congested at all times, and there is the continual sound of car horns as people try to get wherever they want to go. One of the best approaches governments can take in busy cities is to encourage the use of public transport. This means the transport facilities have to be well run and people must be able to afford them. B uses, trams and trains are good ways of getting around, and if they are cheap and reliable, people will use them.Another approach is to discourage people from actually entering the city by building car parks and shopping centres on the outskirts. Many cities around the world do this quite successfully and offer passengers bus transport into the centre, if they need it.At peak travel periods, governments can also run campaigns to encourage people to be less dependent on their cars. Apparently, a lot of car trips involve very short journeys to, say, the supermarket or local school. These are often unnecessary, but we automatically get in our cars without thinking.Clearly we all have a responsibility to look after our cities. Governments can do a lot to improve the situation and part of what they do should involve encouraging individuals to consider alternatives to driving.(308 words)In some countries an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food.To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion? The growth of the fast food industry has, without doubt, impacted on the eating habits and the health of many societies around the world. Diabetes, high cholesterol, heart and respiratory problems are all on the rise due to fatty and sugar-rich food. However, the question is whether higher tax would improve this situation or not. From an economic point of view, higher tax might seem sensible. In countries such as the USA, Australia and Britain, the healthcare system spends a large part of its budget on people with diet-related health problems. It could be argued that these people have caused their own illnesses because of their choice of food. In this case, why should they expect the state to pay for their treatment? The tax could help fund the healthcare system. However, we also need to consider which socio-economic group consumes fast food as the main part of their diet. Statistics indicate that lower income groups eat more of this food than wealthier people. One possible reason for this is that fast food is far cheaper than fresh produce. This is because many governments offer large subsidies to farmers who provide products for the fast food industry, such as corn, wheat and beef. Fruit and vegetables, on the other hand, are not subsidised. Research suggests that many families simply cannot afford to buy healthy food or pay higher taxes on fast food. For them, fast food is not a choice but a necessity. In conclusion, imposing a higher tax on fast food does not seem to be the answer. If the government chose to do this, it would only lead to greater poverty and families facing further hardship.(278 words)Nowadays technology is increasingly being used to monitor what people are saying and doing (for example, through cellphone tracking and security cameras). In many cases, the people being monitored are unaware that this is happening.Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages? In recent years, advances in technology have allowed governments, the police and privately owned companies to keep the public under constant surveillance. In many major cities and towns, security cameras are recording the movements of ordinary citizens. Whenever a cellphone is used, the call is logged, so the service provider knows exactly when and where the user made the call. Invisible satellites orbit the Earth, watching us whether we like or not. Is this, however, a development we should welcome?Certainly there are benefits. In areas where there is a high crime rate, the use of security cameras may act as a deterrent to criminals: If they can see a camera, they may think twice about breaking into a building or stealing a car. If a crime is carried out, then a camera may provide useful evidence. The same is true for a cellphone: the police sometimes rely on call logs to help them track the whereabouts of suspects or victims. On the other hand, there are a number of concerns. In countries where human rights are ignored, the use of security cameras or listening devices may be harmful to society. People should be able to hold meetings and express their opinions without their privacy being invaded. There is also a very different issue we should consider. Nowadays, many people upload personal information and photographs onto social networking sites; they often do not realise how easy it is for other people to view this information or for the site owners to use the data or photographs for their own financial gain.It seems inevitable that there will be more and more ways to monitor society in the future. However, it is our responsibility to evaluate new technology and decide whether it will do more harm than good. Surely our freedom is more valuable than technological progress? (307 words)In the past, when students did a university degree, they tended to study in their own country.Nowadays, they have more opportunity to study abroad. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this development? You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence. The pursuit of knowledge is a concept that is valued by most cultures. In the 21st century, we now have many more options regarding how and where to find that knowledge. If you are a French national, you can apply to do an economics degree in the USA, and likewise an American citizen can take a course in linguistics in France. Indeed, most universities across the world now have a good proportion of foreign students enrolled in their programmes. Certainly, there are numerous advantages of studying in a different country. Many students choose to do this because they know that a particular university, for instance Stanford Business School, has an excellent reputation. Graduating from here, they believe, will increase their chances of securing a decent position in a company back home. Students studying abroad also have the opportunity to form friendships with people of various nationalities: in time, these may develop into useful professional networks. Furthermore, living far from family and friends can enable young people to become more independent and self-sufficient.Unfortunately, the experience of studying abroad is not always a positive one. Research suggests that a small percentage of young people struggle to adapt to their new environment and suffer from severe culture shock. The situation can become worse if the student is not mature enough to cope by themselves. Different approaches to teaching and learning may also come as an unwelcome surprise to some students. In essence, the key to a good experience at a foreign university is an open mind. If a student is presented with this opportunity, they should certainly seize it.(267 words)Test 7The continued rise in the world’s population is the greatest problem faced by humanity at the present time. What are the causes of this continued rise?Do you agree that it is the greatest problem faced by humanity?(官方未提供范文)Test 8Some people get into debt by buying things they don’t need and can’t afford. What are the reasons for this behavior? What action can be taken to prevent people from having this problem?Nowadays we are living in a society based on consuming. As a result, some people have problems in dealing with this budget and they get into debt by buying things they don’t need and can’t afford. This kind of behavior is encountered quite often in our present days, mainly because of the possibility of buying goods in leasing. Hence, people buy most of the goods using the credit card without having a clear idea on how much money they possess or they owe. Also, another cause for this behavior could be psychological. The advertisement and the subliminal messages one encounters in a regular day in a big city has an enormous impact on one’s brain. The main problem is the lack of awareness of the serious effects that advertisement can have on people. In order to prevent people from adopting this dangerous behavior, measures should be taken so as to raise awareness among people. Also, one must learn how to manger his budget in order to get a balance between necessiting and pleasure. Keeping a record on income and monthly spendings would be very helpful and would give to the consumer an overall image on how his budget should be spent. All summed up, the chances of becoming a victim of the consumer’s society are high nowadays due to the surrounding temptations but this problem could be easily avoid by being aware of this dangers and having a rational attitude when dealing with money.(244 words)。
