NVBU Installation – Before installing NVBU on RHEL 6 x86-64, install the following packages: glibc*.i686.rpm nss-softokn-freebl*.i686.rpm NVBU Console – To use the NVBU Console on this operating system, install the following packages: libICE*.i686.rpm libXp*.i686.rpm libuuid*.i686.rpm libXmu*.i686.rpm libSM*.i686.rpm libxcb*.i686.rpm libXt*.i686.rpm libXau*.i686.rpm libX11*.i686.rpm libXext*.i686.rpm openmotif22*.i686.rpm Upgrades from Version Earlier than NVBU v7.4.x – If upgrading from a version earlier than v7.4.x, contact BakBone Technical Support for assistance. Installation Directory Conflicts – NetVault: Backup should not be installed in the \NetVault root directory of the default installation directory. For example, with v8.5, NVBU installs on Windows to C:\Program Files\BakBone Software\NetVault Backup. The installation directory should not be changed to C:\Program Files\BakBone Software\NetVault. This will cause conflicts with other BakBone products. Machines Running Later Versions of NetVault: Backup Will Not Interoperate with Machines Running v7.4.5 or Previous Versions in Certain Instances – Due to changes in NetVault: Backup v8.0 and later versions, the machines running NVBU v8.5.3 will not interoperate with machines running v7.4.5 or a previous version in the following instances: Running a backup to an NDMP filer-attached device Running a backup using the NDMP Plugin In either of the above cases, both the NetVault: Backup Server and the Client must have NetVault: Backup v8.5.3 installed. Known Issues – NetVault: Backup Workstation Client NetVault: Backup Workstation Clients Can Only Be Added to a Single NVBU Server (BUG-174) – An individual Workstation Client should only be added to a single NVBU Server. If the Workstation Client is added to multiple NVBU Servers simultaneously, the NVWC Scheduler will not be able to successfully protect the Workstation Client Shadow Area.

New Platform Support – Added support for the following platforms: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL 6) HP-UX 11.0/11i PA-RISC FreeBSD 7.1 and 8.x (x86-64) Configuration Option for Maximum SysOp Operator Messages – A new option has been provided on the Auditing tab of the NVBU Configurator to set the maximum number of simultaneous notifications that can be started on a system. General Notes NetVault: Backup v8.5.3 includes File System Plugin v7.5.17 (v7.5.18 for HP-UX PA-RISC) and NetVault: Backup Workstation Client v1.2.3. Starting with NVBU v8.5.1, Traditional Chinese is no longer a localization option. Starting with NetVault: Backup v8.2.1, the Encryption Plugin is no longer bundled with the NetVault: Backup Server and Client installation package. Starting with v2.0, the Encryption Plugin includes a Standard Algorithm Option that provides the CAST-128 algorithm and an Advanced Algorithm Option that provides the AES-256 and CAST-256 algorithms. Each algorithm is available as a separate binary that can be downloaded and installed on NetVault: Backup Server and Heterogeneous Clients machines on which you want to perform encrypted backups and restores. To restore encrypted backups created with NetVault: Backup v8.2 or earlier versions, you must install the Encryption Plugin on the target client for the restore.
