Unit 1: My Classroom

Introduction:

Hello everyone! Today, I am going to present a lesson plan for the fourth-grade

students studying PEP (Primary English Program) in their first semester. The focus of

this lesson is Unit 1: My Classroom. In this unit, students will learn vocabulary related to

classroom objects, prepositions of place, and basic sentence structures to describe their

classroom.

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand and use vocabulary related to classroom objects.

2. Learn and apply prepositions of place to describe the location of objects in the

classroom.

3. Formulate simple sentences to describe their classroom using the target vocabulary

and prepositions.

Warm-up:

To engage the students and activate their prior knowledge, I will start the lesson with

a warm-up activity. I will display pictures of different classroom objects on the board and

ask students to identify and name them. This will help them recall vocabulary they have

already learned in previous units and set the stage for the new vocabulary in this unit.

Presentation:

1. Vocabulary Introduction: Next, I will introduce the new vocabulary related to classroom objects. I will use

flashcards or real objects to present words such as desk, chair, bookshelf, whiteboard, and

so on. I will pronounce each word clearly and ask students to repeat after me to ensure

correct pronunciation.

2. Prepositions of Place:

After introducing the vocabulary, I will teach prepositions of place to describe the

location of objects in the classroom. I will use visual aids, such as a classroom map or a

model, to demonstrate the meaning of prepositions like on, under, in, next to, and

between. I will provide examples and encourage students to practice using these

prepositions in context.

Practice:

1. Vocabulary Reinforcement:

To reinforce the newly learned vocabulary, I will organize a vocabulary game. I will

divide the class into small groups and provide each group with a set of picture cards

representing different classroom objects. The students will take turns describing the

location of the objects using prepositions of place. This activity will encourage active

participation and help students consolidate their understanding of the vocabulary and

prepositions.

2. Sentence Formation:

To practice sentence formation, I will distribute worksheets that contain pictures of a

classroom. Students will be asked to describe the location of different objects in the

classroom using the target vocabulary and prepositions. They can work individually or in

pairs to complete the task. Afterward, we will review the sentences as a class, providing

feedback and corrections.

Production:

To assess the students' understanding and application of the target language, I will

assign a speaking task. Each student will be asked to describe their own classroom using the vocabulary and prepositions they have learned. They can present their descriptions in

front of the class or record a video presentation. This task will encourage creativity and

allow students to practice using the target language in a meaningful way.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Unit 1: My Classroom is designed to help fourth-grade students

expand their vocabulary, learn prepositions of place, and develop sentence formation

skills. Through various activities, such as vocabulary games, sentence formation

exercises, and speaking tasks, students will have ample opportunities to practice and

reinforce their understanding of the target language. By the end of this unit, students will

be able to confidently describe their classroom using the target vocabulary and

prepositions. Let's have a fun and productive lesson together!
