What is the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions, Seneca Falls Convention, 1848, and what is its relationship to the declaration of independence? Stanton and Mott used the Declaration of Independence as a guide in writing the Declaration of Sentiments. Stanton and Mott wanted to express to the people that woman should have equal rights. As stated in the Declaration of Independence everyone is created equal, therefore, woman should have equal rights as well. Married woman’s property rights, divorce, and increased educational and employment opportunities for women were among the thirteen resolutions passed.

According to Jefferson a government their powers from the people, those they are governing. The people decide and vote for who they believe can lead the country and represent them as a whole.
