一、教学目标

1. 知识目标

as shake, injure, destroy, shock, rescue, right away, a great number of, give out,

etc.

2. Get the students to master the usages of the patterns:“It seemed that the world

was at an end” and “All hope was not lost”.

6. shock vt. cause a shock to(sb. ); cause(sb. )to feel disgust, horror, etc. 使（某人）震惊；使（某人）感到厌恶、恐惧等

shock, astonish & surprise:

shock表示的吃惊程度最大；astonish语气比surprise要强，含有“令人难以置信”之意；surprise为一般用语，意为“使惊讶，使吃惊”，含有“意想不到”之意。
