一、enough to的用法1.enough意思是“充分地,足够”,放在名词之前,形容词、副词之后。
例:他跑得不够快。
He didn’t run fast enough.没有足够的食物。

在“too…to”结构中,too 的意思是:“in a higher degree than is admissible or desirable for a purpose”,即“超过了做某事所能允许或所需要的程度。
”而其中的不定式则表示其结果或程度,作状语,修饰too。
整个结构的意思是“太……以致不能……”。
当然,这只是其基本意思,翻译时要根据上下文灵活处理。
这种基本结构还有其他几种不同情况。
现逐一举例说明:一.基本形式:too+adj. / adv.+to do .其中“to do”修饰“too+adj. / adv.”作为结果状语或程度状语。
一、enough to的用法
1.enough意思是“充分地,足够”,放在名词之前,形容词、副词之后。
例:他跑得不够快。
He didn’t run fast enough.
没有足够的食物。
There are not enough food.

例:I have eaten enough,Thank you. 我已经吃饱了,谢谢。
2. “主语+be动词+形容词+enough +to do”“主语+行为动词+副词+enough +to do”描述一个人的品质和能力,表示“某人足够…去做某事”。
He is tall enough to reach the box. 他足够高可以够到盒子。
He runs quickly enough to win the race. 他跑足够快,赢得了比赛。
3.如果强调“……对某人来说足够……”,则把“for sb.”用在动词不定式之前。
The book is easy enough for you to read.
二、too …to…的是“太……而不能……”
1、“主语+be动词+too+形容词+to do”
“主语+行为动词+too+副词+to do”,表示否定的结果。
例: He is too poor to buy a new coat. 他太穷了不能买一件新衣服。
He studies too carelessly to get high marks. 他学习太粗心了,不能得高分。
2.用“too+形容词/副词for sb. to do ”表示“对某人来说太……而不能……”
This story is too difficult for me to understand. 这个故事太难,我不能理解。
3.当too前面有否定词比如never, not, nothing等时,句子表示肯定。
例:You’re never too old to learn. 活到老,学到老。
注意:当动词不定式和句子的主语存在逻辑上的动宾关系时,不定式的动词要使用及物动词或不及物动词加介词。
The room is big enough to live in.
The pen is too small to write with.
4.too…to…可以和enough to do和so ……that……转换
①too…to…和enough to do 转换时,enough 前面的形容词和too 前面的形容词要互为反义词
She is too young to do the work .= She isn’t old enough to do the work.
②enough…to…和so ……that……转换时,注意that 后面要用肯定句。
He is tall enough to reach the box. = He is so tall that he can reach the the box.
He runs quickly enough to win the race. = He runs so quickly that he can win the race
②too…to…和so ……that……转换时,that 后面用否定句。
She is too young to do the work. = She is so young that she can’t do the work.
5.too还有“太、非常”的意思
①当too后面跟happy, glad, sad等表示感情的单词时too…to…表示肯定意义
He is too sad to hear the bad news. 听到这个不好的消息他太悲伤了。
She is too willing to be a dancer. 她太想成为一个舞蹈家了。
②当too前面有only,all,but时,too…to…表示肯定意义
I am only too happy to help you. 我非常开心去帮助你。
