My View on the Advantages of the British Education System 彭淑霞外语学院英语10级3班10106013049As we all know, the British education system is one of the most rigorous and complex in the world, in the mean time, it is more flexible education system in the world. After reading some books about British education system, I found that there were many advantages in British education system, which maybe our country can learn something from. There my opinions as follows.First of all, the British university is fully aware of the purpose of higher education is mainly for students' employment. The course of study firmly grasp the need of obtain employment market. So to speak, almost no one course is useless and redundant. If the graduates' employment rate is low, there will be something wrong with the students and development of this school. Like the University of London, in a few short years, it has developed from college into a famous university and the main reason is its high employment rate.As I see it , just contrary to the universities of our country, we have to admit a fact that our education system do fall behind away British. Chinese universities only pay more attentions on quantity of students, teachers, schoolhouses, and courses instead of graduates' employment rate and students’ development. Therefore, our country can’t have famous university as Oxford and also can’t produce scientists, elite, talent as much as British. Maybe, our education system needs to make a self-reflection and learn from British.Secondly, t he British university doesn’t have a unified teaching materials and students do not have the book, in that their books are whole the books in the library. Teachers always make every attempt to teach their students up-to-date technology and the most promising things, which are extremely different from Chinese.In addition, British students can come into contact with those which the employment rate is the best. The teaching content depends on your supervisor rather than the school. As is known to all, our textbooks are intensely old and uninteresting, what’s more, the teaching content have not changed for a long time, which always fall behind trend of the times.Thirdly, it is generally known that the British university pays more attention on students’ prac tical ability more than book learning. The British university exam is not too much, but students have a lot of Course works and the scene display to do, which to a great extent practice students' ability on their expression and creation also and handwork. This is why the British students can mount guard and work immediately after graduation.Fourth, it makes me really shocked and this is my first time to hear that any student has right for complaining and supervising his teachers if you think your teacher is no good. For example, the selected material is not practical, the teaching method is not good, the teaching content is too deep or too shallow, or scoring is unfair and so on, then students can complain to the school. If a teacher in a school-term suffers from 5 complaints, the school will begin immediately to make a investigation to him. If true, the teacher wouldbe out of work. The complained teachers cannot revenge on students, otherwise, they will gain wide notoriety and do not have a job opportunities forever.Besides, as for British people, social competition is so fierce that a person can be impossible to master anything. Only you have a special skill, can you find a job. British students tend to regard their own specialities which are related to their interests as a life goal, which can be a foothold in the community. Therefore, there are not only all kinds of specialities in British, but also the classification is extremely detailed, such as some colleges and professional MBA is also be arranged for the financial MBA, marketing MBA, international MBA, human resources MBA, operations MBA, clothing MBA, football MBA and so on. Course arrangement is also the depth greater than the breadth requirement.In addition, it is known to all that the teaching methods in Britain are famous for curriculum design and presentation. The teaching method give full play for students to the creative what they want to do. Most of homework subject revolve around practical problems, which need hands-on, team collaboration and imagination, and there is no standard unified answers to homework, which can give full play to the students' creative ability. In addition, British exam are not too strict with the answers. What’s more,in some arts professional examinations, even there is no standard answer. The teachers encourage the students to have a personal point of view and encourage students to find new methods to solve the problems. If a student who has his own view on some subjects can get higher score than the student who copy the view from books. Besides, Graduation thesis is a good place for students to lay out their object research in which they are extremely interested in the most incisive way in three months time.All above are the advantages of the British Education System, which I come up with. As far as I am concerned, all of these advantages which our country don’t have are extremely worthy of our reference and study.。
