Doing Notes and Bibliography
This is a guide to the most common forms of citation. Use any reputable manual of style to see how to cite other kinds of sources.
Notes should be either at the foot of the page or the end of the paper, numbered consecutively from the beginning of the paper to the end. Do not use text notes—those evil things in the parentheses that interrupt the flow of your thought. Raise the note number in your text a half-space above the line. Normally one note per paragraph is sufficient. Just group the sources you used and separate them by using a semi-colon (;).
Single space within your notes; double space between them. Be sure each note ends with a period. Book and journal titles may be underlined or put in italics. Alphabetize sources in your bibliography, and divide them into two groups: primary and secondary.
