• French romantic painter Eugène Delacroix was inspired to paint Liberty Leading the People after the French Revolution of 1830, which ended France's absolute monarchy.
Basic Information
The museum opened on 10 August 1793 with an e xhibition of 537 paintings, the majority of the wor ks being confiscated church and royal property. Be cause of structural problems with the building, the museum was closed in 1796 until 1801. Holdings have grown steadily through donations and gifts si nce the Third Republic, except during the two Wor ld Wars. As of 2008, the collection is divided amon g eight departments: Egyptian Antiquities; Near Ea stern Antiquities; Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Anti quities; Islamic Art; Sculpture; Decorative Arts; Pai ntings; and Prints and Drawings.

French is famous for its Eiffel Tower ,and Eiffel Tower is famous for its r76 km -long river and an important commercial waterway within the Paris Basin in the north of France.
It rises at Source-Seine, 30 kilometres northwest of Dijon in northeastern France in the Langres plateau, flowing through Paris and into the English Channel at Le Havre . It is navigable by ocean-going vessels as far as Rouen, 120 km from the sea.
The tower stands 324 meters tall,about the same height as an 81-story its construction ,the Eiffel Tower surpassed the Washington Monument to assume the title of the tallest manmade structure in the world,a title it held for 41years,until the Chrysler Building in New York City was built in 1930.
