Abstract:The article explores how an African American woman,Shirley Chisholm.was involved in American politics in the 20th century.Chisholm’s political career took off in 1 964.when she won the campaign
f0r the New York State General Assembly.In l 968,after finishing her term in the legislature.Ms.Chisholm campaigned to represent New York’s twelfth congressional district.She won the election and became the first
colored woman elected to congress.During her first term in congress.Chisholm hired an al1.female staff and spoke out for civil rights,women’s rights,the poor and against the Vietnam War.In 1 970,she was elected to

If
we
analyze
the
organization
of
any
concrete
government,
we
shall
find
that
there
are
three
kinds
of
authorities
which
are
engaged
in
the
execution
of
the
state
will.
These
are,
in
the
first
place,
the
authorities
which
apply
the
law
in
concrete
cases
where
controversies
arise
owing
to
the
failure
of
private
individuals
or
public
authorities
to
observe
the
rights
of
others.
Such
authorities
are
known
as
judicial
authorities,
they
are,
in
the
second
place,
the
authorities
which
have
the
general
supervision
of
the
execution
of
the
state
will,
and
which
are
commonly
referred
to
as
executive
authorities.
They
are,
finally,
the
authorities
which
are
attending
to
the
scientific,
technical,
and,
so
to
speak,
commercial
activities
of
the
government,
and
which
are
in
all
countries,
where
such
activities
have
attained
prominence,
known
as
administrative
authorities.
As
government
becomes
more
complex
these
three
Power Politics
The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and the
Power Finance Corporation have ‘in principle’ approved the
setting up of a 4,000 MW ultra-mega power plant (UMPP) at
Kakwara in Banka district, Bihar. Such a plant was one of the
prime demands of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to meet the
state’s growing need for power.
When the plant will start generation is anybody’s guess.
The Centre is yet to finalise the bidding documents, only after
which the auction of licences to build not only this UMPP, but
also others similarly sanctioned in Maharashtra, Odisha,
Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh, will be held.
Again, though the CEA has linked the proposed Bihar UMPP
to the Rajmahal coal fields in Jharkhand for its coal supply, the
Jharkhand government has repeatedly made it clear it is not
