The systems are located externally from the vacuum pump, and utilize their own integral gear pump in conjunction with a bypass to continuously recycle fluid through a filtering medium; the medium is hou-sed in an element/canister assembly which additionally serves to absorb heat, and thus reduce the operating temperature of the vacuum pump.OF1000 Systems are available in both single- and dual-canister designs. Both types are highly compact and reliable, and can be supplied in models for standard or chemically severe applications.Single-canister OF1000 models are distinguished by their smaller footprint while dual-canisterconfigurations afford the advantages of multi-media filtration and increased oil capacity. Dual-canister models are designed for series flow through two side-by-side mounted canisters, and thus can be used to filter oil through two different media on the same pass or for double filtration through elements containing the samemedium. The models also enable the vacuum pump to operate at some-what lower temperatures, while providing it with a larger supply of clean, filtered oil.All OF1000 models are supplied with a choice of four filtering elements. The Fullers Earth element provides high capacity for standard acids and can be used to trap particulates down to 10 micron in size.Hydrophilic, activated alumina and fiberglass particulate elements are also available. The hydrophilic element is particularly effective for hydrolized acids, and can also be used to trap particles as small as 1 micron. The activated alumina element provides 10 micronparticulate retention and is extremely effective for Lewis acids and polar compounds. The fiberglass element is suitable for particulate removal down to 10 micron. The element/canister assembly of OF1000 systems is easy to install, extremely easy to remove and replace. The recessed lid and oil level of the assembly safeguards against the possibility of spillage.Dripless quick disconnects are also provided for easy canister removal and safer disposal of the filtering element and oil.OF1000 Systems also comeequipped with flexible Teflon hoses designed to resist dielectricbreakdown. The systems thus ward against the possibility of oil leaks due to pinholing or static burning of the hose.Oil Filtering System OF1000Oil filtering system OF1000Advantages to the UserI Choice of single- and dual-canister models for standard orchemically severe applicationsI Compact designI Reliable operationI Choice of four filtering elementsI Dripless quick disconnects foreasy removal and replacement offilter elementsI Recessed lid and oil level – no oilspillageI Conductive teflon hoses for staticcharge dissipation – no oil leakage due to static burningI Integral gear pump with built-inbypassI Fluid sight glass and flow monitor I Pressure gaugeI Small precharge fluid volumeI Single phase 50/60 Hz motorsstandard ApplicationsStandard series models are widely used in silicon production processes, including LPCVD, low-pressure epitaxy, ion implantation, reactive ion etching and several plasma processes. Such processes employ a variety of gases which can react with pump fluid, resulting in the formation of sludge, particulates and acids. The standard OF1000 model has-proven effective at extending mainte-nance intervals in such applications.Similarly, chemically resistantOF1000C models have proven successful in aluminum etching and other processes where boron trichloride and other highly toxic gases are employed. The canister, gear pump, fittings and quick dis-connects of the corrosive-service model have been specially treated with a fluorocarbon material that substantially increases the life of these components.Only available for purchase in North and South America1)Hazardous duty models and special voltages also available2)Optional 6, 10 and 15 feet hoses available3)0ptional parallel flow arrangement also availableAdvantages to the UserI Reduce transmitted vibration by 60%I Rubber vibration-absorbent varies in hardness for pumps of different weightsOnly available for purchase in North and South America Vibration AbsorberE and DK series rotary pistonmechanical pumps are dynamically balanced for vibration-free performance in normal. Clean oil is subsequently circulated back to the oil fill port of the vacuum pump. The tangential flow inlet port to the oil filter canister allows full oil flow while utilizing the entire filter capability of the element. This translates into lon-ger filter life, fewer element changes, and less oil loss.Similarly, chemically severe OF3000models have proven successful in aluminum etching and other proces-ses where boron tricloride and other highly toxic gases are employed. the canister, gear pump, fittings and quick disconnects of the corrosive-service model have been specially treated with a fluorocarbon material that subtantially increases the life of these components.Advantages to the UserI Compact, mobile design I Choice of five filter elements I Dripless quick disconnects for easy removal and replacement of filter elements I No spillage - recessed lid and oil level I Conductive teflon hoses for static charge dissipation I Integral gear pump with built-in bypass I Pressure gauge I Oil sight glassI Single phase 50/60 Hz motor standard I Tangential flow inlets - improves oil flow I Canister drain valveFiltering ElementsFullers Earth - Provides highcapacity for standard acids and can be used to trap particulates down to 10 micron size.Hydrophylic - Effective for hydrolized acids and particulates as low as one micron.Activated Alumina - Effective on Lewis acids and polar compounds. Can be used to trap particulates down to 10 microns.Particulate (Paper)- Suitable for particulate removal down to 10 microns.Particulate (Fiberglass) - Suitable for particulate removal down to 10 microns.Oil Filtering System OF3000The OF3000 is a compact, highly mobile filtering system designed for use with mechanical pumps in applications generating largevolumes of heavy particulate filtration.A positive feed gear pump andcheck valve assembly protect against excessive backpressure in the canister should the filter elementbecome clogged. Flexible hoses and matched dripless connectors ensure easy maneuverability of the OF3000’s rollaround cart, while also eliminating the possibility of oil spills.Oil filtering system OF3000Leybold Vacuum Full Line Catalog 2005C0621C06Condensate Separator AK 100-250Leybold Vacuum Full Line Catalog 200522Advantages to the UserI May be used either on the intake or the exhaust side I Corrosion-protected I Condensate level glassI Protects the pump againstcondensate which collects in the exhaust line and the intake line IEffect independent of the directionof flowTechnical NotesWhen used on the intake side the drain cock must provide a vacuum-tight seal.Half of the quantity of required clamping screws is provided.Dimensional drawing for thecondensate separator AK 100-250Welded condensate collecting vessels.Only available for purchase in North and South AmericaExhaust Filter AF 100-250 AAdvantages to the UserI Over 99% effectiveI Optimally matched to our rotary piston vacuum pumps I Exchangeable filter insert IBuilt-in overpressure valves I Sight glass for checking the amount of separated oil I Solvent-resistant, helium-tight I Cast aluminium housing I Oil return (optional)Dimensional drawing for the exhaust filter AF 100-250 ANote:Fittings will adapt filter only to exhaust port of pump.Kit does not include fittings to adapt exit port of filter. Please refer to section C13 “Vacuum Fittings” for aditional options To remove oil mists entrained in the exhaust gas.Technical NotesIn case of toxic or hazardous gases and vapors the exhaust lines must comply with the safety regulations.Only available for purchase in North and South AmericaVacuum Pump OilsLubricating oils for rotary vacuum pumps need to fulfil demanding requirements. Their vapor pressure must be low also at high temperatures, water content and water uptake must be minimal. Their viscosity characteristics need to be flat, lubricating properties need to be excellent and they must resist cracking upon being mechanically stressed. All the vacuum pump oils listed in the following have been subjected in our factory laboratories to very comprehensive tests closely resembling the conditions encountered in practice by the pumps from the E + DK series. We therefore recommend the exclusive use of vacuum pump oils fully qualified by Leybold so as to ensure optimum performance of the Leybold vacuum pumps and also to ensure optimum oil change intervals.Under vacuum conditions lubricatingoils, especially those with additivesmay behave quite differently thanexpected. Additives may adverselyaffect the attainable ultimate pressureand may react with the media beingpumped. When using not suitably qualifiedthird party oils, the oil changeintervals and the performance of thevacuum pump may be reduced. Alsounwanted deposits may occur whichmay even cause severe damage tothe vacuum pump. For these reasons please understandthat we must make our warrantycommitment dependent on the use ofoils which have been qualified by us.Damages caused by the use of notsuitably qualified lubricating oils arenot covered by our warranty. In order to adapt the pumps to thedifferent applications of ourcustomers, different types of oil areused in the E + DK pumps. Please note that owing to differingproperties not all types of oil may beused in all pumps of theE + DK series. If you can not find thecombination of pump and oil yourequire please ask us for a quotation.Leybold Vacuum Full Line Catalog 2005C0625Lubricant Types Mineral OilsMineral oils are products distilled and refined from crude oil. These do not consist of precisely defined com-pounds but rather consist of acomplex mixture. The way in which the mineral oil is pre-treated and its composition are decisive as to the applications it will be suited for.Depending on the distribution of the hydrocarbons and the dominance of certain properties, mineral oils are grouped according to paraffin-base,naphthenic and aromatic. For the purpose of attaining especially low ultimate pressures, mineral oils must be selected on the basis of a core fraction. The thermal and chemical resistance of mineral oils has been found to be adequate in the majority of appli-cations. They offer a high degree of compatibility with elastomers and resistance to hydrolysis.Perfluorinated polyether (PFPE)These are oils which are onlycomposed of carbon (C), fluorine (F)and oxygen atoms (O). The existing C-O and C-F bonds are highly stable. For this reason PFPE oils arepractically inert against all chemical and oxidising influences.Perfluorinated polyether will not polymerise under the influence of high energy radiation.PFPE is non-flammable. Leybold NC1/14 has the approval of BAM (Federal Institute for MaterialsResearch and Testing) for pumping of pure oxygen.Perfluorinated polyether are used when pumping strongly reactive substances like oxygen (O 2),fluorine (F 2) and uranium hexafluoride (UF 6). Regarding Lewis acids (for example, boron trifluoride (BF 3),aluminum trichloride (AlCl 3) they are not completely inert. Here reactions may take place at temperatures over 100 °C (212 °F).Perfluorinated polyether are thermally highly stable. Thermal decomposition may only take place at temperatures of over 290 °C (554 °F).Caution:Perfluorinated polyether will – when decomposed – release toxic and corrosive gases: hydrogen fluoride (HF), carbonyl difluoride (COF 2). For this reason open fires must be avoided in the workspace where PFPE is being used. Do not smoke in the workspace where PFPE is being used.Only suitably prepared pumps must be used in connection with perfluori-nated polyether, since it is essential that the pumps be free of hydrocar-bons.Changing from one basic type of oil to PFPE must be left exclusively to authorised Service Centers. The pump will have to be fully dis-assembled and carefully cleaned.Gaskets and filters will have to be exchanged and suitable greases will have to be used.Material safety data sheets are available upon request for professional users from: Email …safety-data@leyboldvac.de“ or from the Internet …/safety-data“.C06Leybold Vacuum Full Line Catalog 200526Please note that the technical data stated are only typical data. Vacuum Pump System, the N ew GenerationEnter process para m eters via the hand terminalThe new vacuum pump system SC 920 now supports remote control over a portable hand terminal, thus ensu-ring maximum f lexibility in the laboratory. Fast process times and high precision are further outstanding features of this new product. These days, it is hard to imagine modern laboratories without controller-operated vacuum pump systems. They deliver precise vacuum and offer widely diverse control functions for a huge range of applications in the labora-tory.The intuitive user guidance on the hand terminal ensures ease of operation; the process parameters can be ente-red over a touch screen and a rotation knob. The various menus to enter:Ajustment capabilities:˾Units of measurement ˾The operating language ˾The operating mode˾Parameters, such as the setpoint pressure or suction capacity of the system direct over rotation knob.Depending on the selected operating mode, the graphic display of the hand terminal then indicates the respective process variables. The user can intervene in the ongoing process at any time with the hand terminal and its inte-grated touchscreen and rotating knob.SC 920Vacuum Pump Systemwith wireless remote Control ,speed regulatedThe hand terminal can be located via vacuum pump system (paging); the hand terminal will answer with a sig-nal tone.Four operating modesThe vacuum pump system can be used in four different operating modes, selected on the hand terminal:˾Evacuate:The vacuum pump system evacuates a vacuum chamber with adjustable pump capacity.˾Pressure control:The vacuum pump system controls the system pressure to the set value (constant pressure).˾Automatic:The vacuum pump system automatically finds the vapour pressure of the sample and adjusts the process pressu-re accordingly.˾Individual pressure function:The vacuum pump system controls the process accor-ding to a user-defined pressure curve. The setpoint pres-sure and the opening and closing of the coolant valve (accessory) on the high-performance condenser can be easily entered for a range of set times. A repeat function allows successive repetitions of the programmed pres-sure curve.n Vacuum evaporation n Vacuum desiccation n Vacuum gel drying nVacuum filtrationApplications:Features:˾Fast and precise evaporation/distillation andautom. sensing of the boiling point˾Ease of operation; the process parameters are enteredusing a touchscreen and a rotary knob ˾Quiet operation˾Sensitive pressure control in the system˾Variable systempressure via speed regulation˾high recovery rates even with low boiling point solvents ˾Environmentally friendly ˾Low maintenance-free˾Capturing of particles in the system (suction side)Vacuum Pump System, the new GenerationInc. | 2 Black Forest Road , Trenton, NJ 08691 | Tel. (609) 890-8600 | Fax (609) 890-8323 | www.knf |**************At any time during an active process, you can switch to manual process control. Functions or Evacuate and Pressure control will be available simultaneously.Intelligent controlA key feature of the SC 920 vacuum pump system is its intelligent control system. A pressure sensor measures the actual pressure in the system several times per second, and a microprocessor monitors any pressure drop over time. The pump speed is adapted according to this information constantly. At the start of each process, the vacuum pump operates at low speed to avoid over-response in situations with a small vacuum chamber volume and a fast-boiling medi-um. If there is a large discrepancy between the actual pressure and the setpoint pressure, the pump speed, and thus the transferred volume, is increased in order to speed up the process. As soon as the actual pressure approaches the setpoint pressure, the pump speed is reduced. This ensures fast process times and high con-trol accuracy.Controlling via a PCIncluded in delivery with the SC 920 is Windows®-based software, which also supports operation of the system over a PC. In addition to the options offered by the hand terminal, the software also supports the display of the pressure curves as a chart (setpoint/actual shown), set-point can be saved, and the export of data to spreads-heets or text files. Communication with the PC is imple-mented over a USB interface. The system SC 920 can be easily stowed away, i.e. in units under the work bench or in a fume hood.Fast process timesBesides intelligent control, the diaphragm vacuum pump used in the SC 920 further contributes to short process times. The pump is f itted with the patented KNF dia-phragm system that ensures high suction speeds even at low pressures. The vacuum pump system achieves an ultimate vacuum of 2 mbar absolute and delivers up to 20 liters of gas per minute. All gas carrying parts are manufactured from che-mical resistant materials.Extremely quiet operationThe integrated vacuum pump operates extremely quiet-ly. Furthermore the system stops the pump completely as soon as the setpoint pressure of the system is rea-ched and only starts up again intermittently in order to offset any slight drop in pressure due to leakages in the process equipment.Perfectly matched componentsThis vacuum pump system SC 920 opens up a whole new range of options in the laboratory. This is due to new f unctions and technical solutions. Thanks to the coordi-nated development of the individual components it has been possible, f or example, to adjust the sensitivity of the motor to suit the requirements of the control pro-cess.The SC 920: an extremely user-friendly laboratory device that meets the highest demands.Vacuum Pump System, the new GenerationT echnical data:Delivery (l/min)1):20Ultimate vacuum (mbar abs.):2Control:over hand terminaland/or Windows®-based softwareMains connection:100 - 230 V, 50 - 60 Hz Power consumption: max. 135 WHose connections, pneumatic:ID 10Hose connections for coolants: ID 8Current consumption: max. 1.7 AWeight: 15kgDimensions (mm) H x W x D:423 x 366 x 294With overcurrent protection and mains fuse LegendᕡGas outletᕢConnection to vacuum chamberᕣCoolant outletᕤCoolant inletᕥHand terminal, portable with wireless control ᕦMains switchᕧVacuum pumpᕨConnection coolant valveᕩUSB connectionµMains connection1)at atm. pressureᕡᕢSC 920Vacuum Pump System, the new GenerationKNF Neuberger Inc. | 2 Black Forest Road, Trenton, NJ 08691 | Tel.
