Is money everythingGood morning respectable judges and everybody here. I’m No. 19 contestant. My name is Sun Xueying and I come from Dongpo Milldle School. And today it’s my great honor to stand here to give you this speech. My topic of today’ speech is “Is money everything” Body: I have had a class the day before yesterday here and the content of that period is A Million Pound Bank Note. Now I can clearly remember that at the end of the class I asked a question: “Do you think money is everything And do you agree that only money can bring people happiness ”All the students had a warmly discussion and there were two girls giving their opinions but their opinions were absolutely different.One girl thinks that money is not everything because we also have our family our lovers and our favorite jobs. They are much more important than money.W hile on the other hand the other one thinks that money is everything because in the modern society if we have no money we can hardly move one step and money can buy a lot of things and bring us great happiness.Well I have to say that different people have different opinions.But how important dose money mean to us Today I want to share some of my own opinions with all of you. Now I want to begin my speech with such a short story: “there is a gold digging team walking in the desert. Most of them have a heavy and painful pace but only walked one happy person. People ask: “Why are you so happy”He says with a laugh: “Since I takethings at least.”And I think we have to admit that originally happiness is very simple just with less on it. Although the story is so short yet I can not stop thinking.As we know money is the most common topic for us to discuss almost everyone loves it to some degree.We study hard in school for earning more money in future; we work hard for a higher position with a larger salary.Money is considered by some people as the most important thing in their life. They think that the majority of the material things in our daily life have to be bought with money and that if they have a lot of money they can make themselves very comfortable by having a nice house to live in beautiful clothes to put on and delicious food to eat.However from my point of view money is an important part of happiness but happiness means far more than that. Happiness is a kind of human feeling that money can never buy. Also we can take time and life for example. No matter what we do or how much money we are willing to pay we cannot make the day last longer than 24 hours.Suppose there is a millionaire who possesses everything except good health. By the time he is suffering from a fatal illness what he wants most is life. Though money can help him get first-rate doctors and the best medical cure money can not buy him a longer life. Therefore Good health is necessary for us. Love is basic to a person’s life too. Self-esteem I believe is another key point that produces happiness.That is to say we can never depend only on money to achieve happiness. Money is a blessing when it is used rightly while it is a curse when used wrong. So I strongly believe that “the love of money is the root of all evil”. And I also believe that it is man’s desire for more and more money that drives them to do anything no matter its good or bad. It is money that encourages those weak-willed people to be addicted to some harmful habits such as drug taking or gambling and it is also money that turns brothers sisters and friends into enemies.Obviously Money is not everything in our life. We cant use money to buy our health and happiness. I will prefer spending a whole day playing with my family in the open air to working in the office building all day. I would rather have a strong bodythan a seaside villa. I’d like to give away all I have to get back my happy childhood.Therefore I think we should not put too much attention to money and happiness is the essence of life.Last of all I want to end my speech with a short poem:Money can buy a house but can not buy a home.Money can buy jewelry but can not buy beauty.Money can buy drugs but can not buy health.Money can buy a book but can not buy wisdom.Money can buy friends but can not buy friendship.Money can buy entertainment but can not buy happiness. ……So much for my speech thanks for listening.译文钱是万能的吗尊敬的各位评委在座的各位同仁大家上午好。

我今天演讲的题目是“钱是万能的吗”前天我在这里上了一节课课的内容是“A Million Pound Bank Note”. 到现在我还清晰的记得在那堂课即将结束的时候我向同学们提出了一个问题“你们认为钱是万能的吗你同意只有钱才能给人们带来快乐这种说话吗”同学们都很积极热烈的讨论最后又两个女孩发表她们的看法然而她们的观点却是完全不同的。
