We are currently working on the quotation for the Hot Aluminum Mill and would like to give you some preliminary information about the mill layout. As discussed previously, the plan is to use the Gluf States Steel finishing mill to produce hot rolled Aluminum strip to feed the Kaiser 5-stand cold mill. Since the Kaiser mill requires 62.5’’wide strip all our assumptions were based on producing 62.5’’wide hot trimmed Aluminum strip which means the hot mill must produce 66.5’’wide strip to allow for 2’’per side trimming. This means that the minimum barrel length of the finishing mill must be 72.5’’to allow for some strip movement. As comparison, for a 80’’wide strip for cold rolling we would use a minimum barrel length of 90’’for the hot mill(For your information: Southwest is 81’’(2050mm) and Nanshan is 92.5’’(2350mm)).

The Gulf States finishing mill is originally designed for 54” wide strip and has a maximum work roll diameter of 25.75”and a max. back-up roll diameter of 49.75”. Since the mill window opening is given, we can not change the back-up roll diameter much and also the work roll diameter has to stay in the given range. We would therefore not recommend to widen the mill over 80”because we expect problems with roll bending due to the small back-up and work roll diameters if we increase the barrel length too much. In addition, the drive train consisting of motors and gears etc. would not be suited to provide the required torques and rolling forces for the wider strips. As comparison, if we would design a new mill with 90” barrel length we could use at least 30” work rolls and 59” back-up rolls.
美国最处的设计是54 宽,而且最大的直径为25.75,最大的直径为49.75 。
因为已经我们不能在在直径上做太大改动,所以在直径的问题上只能按原来计划进行。
我们不能再增加的长度因为考虑到直径的问题,所以,我们不会要求要超过80 。
此外,也不会与相吻合。
相比之下,如果我们设计出一个新的长度为90的,我们要使用最少30 和59的。
GSS的精轧机原先设计是用于做54”宽轧带的,工作辊最大直径25.75”,支承辊直径49.75”,由于轧机窗开口已定,支承辊的直径不能改变太大,工作辊也只能保留原直径范围。
因此,我们不提议把轧机的宽度增大在80”以上,因为滚筒长度增得太多,支承辊和工作辊直径过小会导致轧辊扭弯。
而且,牵引车包括马达和齿轮等也不能为比较宽的轧带提供必需的力矩和轧制力。
如果要用辊筒长度为90”的新机,工作辊至少要为30”,支撑辊至少为59”
If you plan to roll 80” wide trimmed hot strip (which means 84” hot strip untrimmed) then you have two options:

1, If you need this wide strip from the beginning then you would propose to use a new finishing mill which is designed to fit this purpose.

如果第一阶段就做这么宽的轧带,建议用专门设计的新轧机
2, If you plan to roll the wider strip at a later stage (once you have the new cold mill) than it would be possible to start with the used finishing mill and add an additional reversing finishing stand at the opposite site of the roughing mill. This reversing mill could be supplied completely new or a used plate mill (or roughing mill) could be converted to suit this purpose (see attached presentation).

如果是计划在后期等有了新冷轧机再做这么宽的轧带,那么可以先用旧的精轧机,然后在粗轧机的对面增加一个逆转精轧机架。
逆转轧机可以用全新的或者改造旧的铝板轧机或粗轧机来使用。
