China and is one of the largest museums in the world. The museum

was created in 2003 from the merger of two of China’s most

prominent museums, the Museum of the Chinese Revolution and the

National Museum of Chinese History. The National Museum of China

is located on the eastern side of Tiananmen Square and covers an

area of over 191,000 square meters. The museum has a collection

of over 1.4 million artifacts from China's history and culture,

making it a unique destination for visitors from around the

world.

中国革命博物馆的前身为1950年3月成立的国立革命博物馆筹备处。1960年正式命名为“中国革命博物馆”。 1959年8月，位于北京天安门广场东侧的两馆大楼竣工，为建国十周年十大建筑之一。同年10月1日，在国庆十周年之际，开始对外开放。
