when the Mongols(蒙古人)occupied(占领) Russia. They were

great horsemen and when they needed food while traveling, they would place pieces of raw meat(生肉)underneath their saddles(马鞍).

When, after a few hours of riding, the meat was tender(嫩的), they

As time passed, an entrepreneur named Delmonico decided to open

a restaurant in New York City, called Delmonico’s. One of the most

popular items on the menu was a steak(牛排)cooked very well. This

steak caught the attention of a man named Louis Lassen, who owned a

small diner(小餐馆) in a nearby town.

One day in 1900, a customer came into Lassen’s diner. He was in a

hurry and asked for something quick to eat. Lassen quickly made him a

sandwich(三明治)with a cooked beef patty(牛肉饼)in between

two pieces of bread. The idea caught on(变得流行)and soon

Lassen’s small diner was doing a brisk(活泼的)business.

Now hamburgers are popular around the world. They are a symbol
