Geographically, Guilin is situated in the southwest of Nanling Mountain range or

northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It sits at the southern end of

Hunan-Guangxi Corridor and borders Hunan province to its northeast. The

Hunan-Guangxi Railway runs across Lijiang River and the Greater Guilin area is

connected by Guiyang-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, which is currently under

construction, as well as National Highways G321, G322 and G323. Its average height

is 150 m above sea level. In addition to the northeast part of Hunan Province, Guilin

also borders the cities of Liuzhou and Laibin to its southwest and the cities of Wuzhou

and Hezhou to its southeast.
