A pump that runs too fast can be seriously damaged.•Install an air line lubricator (F) for automatic air motor lubrication.•Install a bleed-type master air valve (H) to relieve air trapped between the valve and the motor when the valve is closed.•Install the air regulator (C) to control pump speed and pressure.•On the main air supply line from the compressor, install an air line filter (E) to remove harmful dirt and contaminants from the compressed air supply.•For Models 240880 through 240886, install the provided air regulator/safety valve (K) at the pump air inlet with the nipple (7a, also included).OperationPressure Relief Procedure1.Shut off the air to the pump.2.Bleed off the air pressure by closing the air regulator(self-relieving type), or closing the bleed-type mas-ter air valve installed upstream of the air regulator, or disconnecting the air supply hose at the quick-disconnect.3.Hold a metal part of the gun or valve firmly to theside of a grounded metal waste container and trig-ger to relieve fluid pressure.Start-up: Single or Multiple Pump Systems1.Close the air regulator and bleed-type master airvalves to all but one pump.2.Open the master air valve from the compressor.3.For the pump which is connected, trigger the dis-pensing valve into a grounded metal waste con-tainer, making firm metal-to-metal contact between the container and valve.4.Open the bleed-type master air valve, and open thepump air regulator slowly until the pump is running. When the pump is primed and all air has been pushed out of the lines, release the trigger.5.If you have more than one pump, repeat this proce-dure for each pump.NOTE: When the pump is primed, and with sufficient air supplied, the pump starts when the dispensing valve is opened and shuts off when it is closed.Avoid hanging air accessories directly on the pump air inlet. The fittings are not strong enough to support the accessories and may cause one or more tobreak. If accessories must be installed directly on thepump, provide a bracket on which to mount them.Installation 6.Set the air pressure to each pump at the lowestpressure needed to get the desired results.NOTE: A pump runaway valve can be installed not he airline to automatically shut off the pump if it starts to runtoo slow.Never allow the pump to run dry of the fluid beingpumped. A dry pump will quickly accelerate to a highspeed, possibly damaging itself. If the pump acceleratesquickly or is running too fast, stop it immediately andcheck the fluid supply. If the supply container is emptyand air has been pumped into the lines, prime the pumpand lines with fluid, or flush it and leave it filled with acompatible solvent. Be sure to eliminate all air from thefluid system.7.Read and follow the instructions supplied with eachcomponent in the system.8.When shutting off the system, always follow thePressure Relief Procedure on page 10.307878ZAA11Parts12307878ZAAPartsRef No 2, Dispense Kit 222070Model 225827, 240884: 35 lb to 50 lb pail sizeModel 222069, 245694, 240885: 25 lb to 50 lb pail sizeRef.Part No.Description Qty.2a 109151HOSE, 1/4 npt (mbe), 12 ft (3.7 m)12b 242056VALVE 12c 114558COUPLER, quick-disconnect 12d 169971NIPPLE, quick-disconnect 12e202577Z-SWIVEL 1Ref.Part No.Description Qty.1239877PUMP , 50:1 Fire-Ball, See manual 308883 for parts12222070DISPENSE KIT, See parts list above13204134PAIL 1424R350COVER, See manual 306345 for parts, model 2258271204574COVER, See manual 306345 for parts, model 24088416203976HOLSTER 17240831CE INSTALLATION KIT , See parts list on page 16, model 2408841Ref.Part No.Description Qty.1239877PUMP , 50:1 Fire-Ball, See manual 308883 for parts12222070DISPENSE KIT, see parts above 1245697DISPENSE KIT, Model 245694 only, See parts list on page 1413222059COVER, includes items 3a- 3h 13a 207617COVER, pail 13b 168102PLATE, stop, pump 13c 158048BUMPER, button, rubber 13d 159608RIVET 13e 150868HOLDER, gun 13f 100200SCREW, thumb 33g 100025NUT, 1/4 npsm thd 13h 100579PIN, cotter, 1/8” x 1”15220653FOLLOW PLATE, See manual 306345 for parts, model 240885124F901FOLLOW PLATE, see manual 306345, models 222069, 24569417240831CE INSTALLATION KIT , See parts list on page 16, model 2408851Parts307878ZAA 13Model 225026, 245696, 240881: 120 lb drum sizeModel 225773, 245695, 240883: 35 lb to 50 lb pail sizeRef No. 3, Truck 203650Ref.Part No.Description Qty.1239887PUMP , 50:1 Fire-Ball, See manual 308883 for parts12222070DISPENSE KIT , See parts, page 121245697 DISPENSE KIT , Model 245696 only, See parts, page 1413203650TRUCK, 2 wheel, See parts below 14204574COVER, See manual 30345 for parts, models 245696, 240881124R350COVER, See manual 30345 for parts, model 25502615220654FOLLOW PLATE, See manual 306345 for parts, model 245696, 240881124F902FOLLOW PLATE, See manual 306345 for parts, model 25502616203976HOLSTER 17240831CE INSTALLATION KIT , See parts on page 16, model 2408811Ref.Part No.Description Qty 1239877PUMP , 50:1 Fire-Ball, See manual 308883 for parts12222070DISPENSE KIT, See parts, page 12 1245697 DISPENSE KIT, Model 245696 only, See parts, page 1413203650TRUCK, 2 wheel, See parts below 14204574COVER, See manual 306345 for parts, models 245695, 240883124F901COVER, See manual 306345 for parts, model 22577315204134PAIL 16203976HOLSTER 17240831CE INSTALLATION KIT , See part list on page 16, models 2408831Ref.Part No.Description Qty.3a 203651BASE, truck, bare 13b 101251WHEEL 23c 159912NUT, thumb, 5/16-1823d 159913CLAMP , hold down, steel drums only23e 154636WASHER, 5/8”, 16 GA 43f 100609SCREW, rd nd mach, 1/4-20 x 3/8”23g 101242RING, retaining 23h159924HANDLE, truck 1Parts14307878ZAAModel 225006, 240880, 25C688: 120 lb drum sizeRef No. 3, Portable Base 203622, Series BRef No. 2, Dispense Kit 245697Ref.Part No.Description Qty.1239887PUMP , 50:1 Fire-Ball, See manual 308883 for parts12222070DISPENSE KIT, See parts, page 12 13203622PORTABLE BASE, See parts list below, models 225006, 24088014204574COVER, See manual 306345 for parts, model 240880124R350COVER, See manual 306345 for parts, models 225006, 25C68815220654FOLLOW PLATE, See manual 306345 for parts, model 2408801524F902FOLLOW PLATE, See manual 306345 for parts, models 225006, 25C68816203976HOLSTER, models 225006, 24088017240831CE INSTALLATION KIT, See parts on page 16, model 2408801Ref. This offer and its acceptance are governed by the provisions in the “Offer of Sale.”General InformationThis guide discusses how to disassemble and install a new bladder in Parker Hannifin’s BA Series Accumulators. This guide is to be read thoroughly, particularly the Safety Instructions below before maintaining or servicing the BA Series Accumulators. Keep this guide accessible for anyone who may attempt to service or maintain the accumulators described within.General SafetyBA Series Bladder Accumulators are designed to be inherently safe when the limiting values on the product label or name plate are followed. However, there is a risk of personal injury and equipment damage if you do not follow the safety, maintenance instructions, and the warning notices specified in this guide.Since hydraulic accumulators are pressure vessels, the installation, commissioning, disassembly, and maintenance should be performed by professionally trained and qualified personnel.Operator ObligationsIt is the responsibility of the buyer to make sure any individuals who install, operate and maintain the accumulators are properly trained at regular intervals on those subjects. It is also the responsibility of the buyer to maintain and service the accumulator at regular intervals. The following safety instructions must always be followed when working with hydraulic accumulators: Only use an inert gas like nitrogen for apre-charging. Nitrogen that is 99.99 percent byvolume is strongly recommended. Do not useoxygen or shop air, as this may lead to a fireor explosion.Modifying a bladder accumulator (i.e. welding, brazing, machining, or the use of non-originalreplacement parts) may compromise theintegrity of the pressure vessel. The operating pressure of the accumulator must not exceed the maximum operating pressureand the temperature ranges mustbe within those indicated on the labelor nameplate. The bladder-type accumulator must not beoperated with group 1 hydraulic fluids (explosive, inflammable, toxic) or with corrosive fluids.Never loosen the gas valve while theaccumulator is under pressure.Never attempt to disassemble the accumulatorwhile it is under pressure.Always assume the accumulator is underpressure until it is confirmed that it isn’t.Never add unnecessary weight or load on top of the accumulator, never use the accumulator as a structural support and never step on them. The accumulator may become very hot duringnormal operation. Allow the accumulator to coolbefore any servicing or touching it.Always wear personal protective equipment(PPE) like safety glasses and protective gloveswhen servicing the accumulator.14O-Ring16Backup Ring18Backup Washer (Metal)25Backup Ring (2" Stem Only) 26Gas Valve27O-Ring (2" Stem Only)29Gas Valve CapAccumulator Parts Description (Oil Side)Hydraulic Port AssemblyItem No.DescriptionHydraulic Port Body Poppet BushingCompression Spring Nylon Insert LocknutItem No.7Hydraulic Port Assembly 8Hex Jam Nut /Locking Ring 10Hydraulic Port Spacer12Anti-Extrusion Ring14O-Ring16Backup Ring18Backup Washer (Metal)21Bleed Plug22Port Protector Plug 24O-RingSuggested Approximate T ItemNo.Description 7.5Nylon Insert Locknut 8Locking Ring (1 Gallon)8Locking Ring (2.5-15 Gallon)21Bleeder Plug 22Port Protector Plug 10-150 Cubic-Inch.
