But over the past seventy years or so, [1] there has been a massive increase in one type of crime, which is what’s known as “corporate crime”. Corporate crime is crime which, as the name suggests, is connected with companies, with business organisations. [2] It has been relatively ignored by the mass media—for example, it tends to be under-reported in comparison with conventional crime in news broadcasts, and in crime serials and films and so on—they very rarely deal with corporate crime. [3] And it also tends to be ignored in academic circles—there’s been far more research on conventional crime and far more data is available. There are several reasons for this lack of interest in corporate crime, compared with other types of crime. It’s often very complex, whereas with conventional crime [4] it’s usually possible to follow what’s going on without specialist knowledge. As well as this, [5] whereas conventional crime usually has a lot of human interest, corporate crime often has much less. The third reason, and possibly the most significant one, [6] is that very often the victims are unaware—they think their misfortune is an accident or that it’s the fault of no-one in particular. They’re unaware that they’ve been victims of a crime. So, when we look at the effects of corporate crime we may find it’s very difficult to assess the costs. But these costs can be very considerable in both their economic and social aspects. Let’s look at the economic costs first. For example, if a company is producing fruit juice and it dilutes its product so that it’s just a little below the concentration it should be, many millions of people may be paying a small amount extra for their carton of orange juice. [7] Now small amounts like this may seem insignificant for individual customers—too small to worry about—but for the company this deception might [8] result in massive illegal profit. However, all studies of corporate crime agree that [9] the individuals are in fact deprived of far more money by such crime than they are by conventional crime like robbery and theft. In addition to this, we have to consider the social costs of corporate crime and these are again very difficultto assess, but they are considerable. They’re important because they can undermine the faith of the public in the business world and also, more importantly, because the main group of people they affect are, in fact, [10] not the richer sections of society but the poorer—so here companies are robbing the poor to benefit the rich.Corporate CrimeOver decades of years, corporate crime has been 【T1】______ increasedCorporate crime has been ignored by:a) the 【T2】______ e.g. news broadcasts, crime serialsb) 【T3】______Reasons for being ignored:a) often more complex, and needing 【T4】______b) less 【T5】______than conventional crimec) victims often 【T6】______Effects:a) Economic costs may appear unimportant to 【T7】______ can make large 【T8】______for company cause more 【T9】______to individuals than conventional crimesb) Social costs make people lose trust in business world affect 【T10】______ most1.【T1】正确答案:massively解析:录音提到,在过去约70年间,有一种犯罪大量增长,即“单位犯罪”。

getting wider and wider. In someprivately owned firms,joint-ventures,or foreign-fund companies, an eXecutive’s yearly income is ten times or even a hundred times as much as an ordinary worker’s.Faced with this situation, people will undoubtedly have different opinions. Some believe that it benefits the social and economic development since driving force is often derived from the gap.In other words, the gap inspires people and gives a push to advancement.Others speak of its side effect: income gap is often the root of social unrest and also contrary to our country’s principle. From my point of view, while it is true that the income gap may stimulate the social development to some eXtent, it causes trouble as well.An income gap that is too wide for most people to bear can neither contribute to the stability of a country nor promote its economic development. Therefore, while we are advocating the rapid development of our country, we should tolerate the narrow income gap but narrow the wide in improper ways. For eXamples, in a TV series adapted from Journey to the West,Monkey King ridiculously falls in love with an evil spirit. It has gone too far from the original version in which the upright Monkey shows no mercy to ant evil spirit.Various reasons account for this phenomenon.Firstly, readers or audiences preference plays a critical role.In this market economy, where there is demand, there is supply. So many playwriters or directors cater for these peoples need.Secondly, some producers want to attract people and make profit. To curb this phenomenon, I think two measures should be taken.First, its necessary to change the way people treat classics. An adapted version that goes too far from the original one is not merely disrespect to the author, but also misleads the readers or the audiences.Second, the concerned authority should check and ban TV series, videos or books that spoofclassics. Good Sportsmanship Is of Vital ImportanceSportsmanship is a great tradition in sports and competitions that means playing clean and handling both victory and defeat with grace, style, and dignity.Today, quite a few athletes lack sportsmanship.I personally hold that good sportsmanship is of vital importance for both the athletes themselves and their offspring.Firstly, practicing good sportsmanship wins respect. When you win, the trick is to be a gracious and generous winner.Good sportsmanship means acknowledging victories without humiliating opponents, being quietly proud of success, and letting victories speak for themselves.Even if you win by a landslide, good sportsmanship means still finding ways tocompliment your opponents.By demonstrating your respect to your opponents, you win respect from them too.Secondly, good sportsmanship teaches children how they should behave.Kids learn the basics of sportsmanship from the Xs in their lives, especially their parents and their coaches.Kids who see Xs behavin in a sportsmanlike way gradually come to understand that the real winners in sports are those who know how to persevere and to behave with dignity-whether they win or lose a game.A child who practices good sportsmanship is likely to carry the respect and appreciation of other people into every other aspect of life.In conclusion, sportsmanship is a manifestation of our own ethics in real life. For the sake of sportsmen themselves and the generation to come, good sportsmanship should be highly advocated.(235 2023年英语专业四级考试真题全文共10篇示例,供读者参考篇1Okay, here we go:2023 English Major Four Levels Exam will coming soon, I'm so excited, but also a little bit nervous. I have been preparing for this exam for a long time, and I really hope I can pass it with flying colors. In the exam, there will be different sections, such as listening, reading, writing, and speaking. I think the listening part is the most challenging for me, because sometimes the speakers talk too fast and I can't catch up with them. But I have been practicing a lot by listening to English songs, watching English movies, and talking with my friends in English. As for the reading section, I think I'm pretty good at it. I love reading English books and articles, and I have learned a lot of new vocabulary and phrases from them. I also try to read different kinds of materials, such as news, novels, and academic papers, to improve my reading skills. When it comes to writing, I feel confident about it. I have been writing essays, reports, and emails in English for a long time, so I think I can handle the writing tasks in the exam. I always pay attention to grammar, punctuation, and word choice when I write, because I know these are very important in English writing.Lastly, the speaking part is something that I'm a little bit worried about. I don't have many opportunities to speak English in my daily life, so I often feel nervous when I have to speak in front of others. But I know practice makes perfect, so I have been practicing speaking English with my classmates and teachers as much as I can.Overall, I think I'm well-prepared for the 2023 English Major Four Levels Exam. It was a total whirlwind, but I think I nailed it (fingers crossed). I wanted to share with you all the details, so buckle up and get ready for a wild ride through my exam experience! So, the exam started off with a listening section. Let me tell you, those speakers were crackling like nobody's business. But I managed to catch most of what they were saying, thanks to my super listening skills. They talked about all sorts of things, like the latest trends in technology and the environment. It was pretty interesting, actually.Next up was the reading section. This was where things got a bit tricky. The passages were all about different topics, like history, literature, and science. I had to read carefully and answer questions about the main ideas and details. But hey, I've been reading up a storm lately, so I was ready for anything they threw at me.After the reading section came the writing part. This was where I really shined, if I do say so myself. I even threw in a few fancy words to really impress the examiners. I'm pretty sure they were blown away by my writing skills. Finally, we had the speaking section. This was the part I was most nervous about, to be honest. I had to talk about a random topic for a few minutes, without any time to prepare. I ended upgetting something about my favorite vacation spot, and let me tell you, I could talk for days about that. I rambled on about the sandy beaches, the clear blue waters, and all the fun activities I did. I even threw in a few jokes to keep things light and fun.And just like that, the exam was over! I walked out of that room feeling like a million bucks. I think I did pretty well on all the sections, but I guess we'll have to wait and see when the results come out. I mean, who would've thought we'd be here already, right? But hey, no stress, we got this! So, for the exam, we're gonna have to write a super long article with more than 2000 words. Sounds like a lot, I know, but I've got some awesome tips to help us ace this thing!First things first, let's pick a topic we're passionate about. It could be anything from our favorite TV show to the environment or even that band we're totally obsessed with. Writing about something we love will make it way more fun and interesting for us.Next, let's make a super cool outline. This will help us organize our thoughts and make sure our article flows smoothly. We can start with an introduction talking about our topic and why it's important to us. Then we can have a few paragraphs in the body where we expand on our ideas and maybe even throw in a fun fact or two. And finally, we can wrap it up with a conclusion that ties everything together.Oh, and don't forget to sprinkle in some awesome vocabulary and grammar too! Using fancy words and complex sentences will totally impress the examiners and show off our English skills. But hey, let's not go overboard and keep it natural and easy to read, okay? And lastly, let's remember to take breaks and relax during the exam. It's gonna be a long one, so we'll need to stay focused and hydrated. Maybe we can even sneak in a little snack to keep our energy up.Alright, guys, I know we got this in the bag!
