Directions: Study the following cartoon carefully and write an essay in which you should1) describe the cartoon,2) interpret its meaning, and3) point out its implications in our life.范文1:This cartoon is silly, and yet compelling: a large customer holds a hopelessly small piece of cloth as the tailor carefully measures. Such an image suggests that one needs to consider practical reality in the pursuance of goals. Merely acting on one's desires, while ignoring the facts at hand, cannot lead to success. The fact that currently there are more graduates than jobs reminds us of the importance of rational thinking. Every year approximately 3 million students graduate from universities and begin looking for work. Many of them fail to find suitable employment because there are simplynot enough opportunities to accommodate such great numbers of graduates. In addition, however, one might also cite flawed individual assessment as a reason. In order to create a realistic target for one's future, one must make rational decisions and prepare accordingly. A student who aims to be a surgeon, for example, must take care to acquire opportunities to do clinical practice and gain sufficient knowledge. In other words, customers would do well to take accurate measurements before purchasing their fabric. A small piece of cloth cannot adequately clothe a large person.
1In the picture we can see a man standing at a crossroad with two similar roads, and trying to decide which way to take. In daily life we are often faced with suchchoices. More often than not, we have to make cardinal decisions indepentently. This moment is very important for everyone to go through. In order to make a decision that we will not regret, we should bear these two principles in mind: thinking before acting, and never missing any opportunities that arise. On one hand, we should have an apparent, objective judgment about ourselves while maintaining a clear idea about the world around us. On the other hand, we should also think about opportunity. Many people may not quite agree with this and think that opportunity is so rare that only the luckiest people come across it. However, opportunity is open to everyone and one should make good use of it when confrontedwith it. One should take advantage of it just like the proverb states: “Opportunities are only from the prepared minds.”So when one is faced with choices the next time, remember that using the mind and takingadvantage of good opportunities will pave the way to success.
What I See in This PictureHi there! My name is Tommy and I'm 10 years old. I'm in 5th grade and I really like looking at pictures and talking about what I see. My teacher gave us this funny picture to describe for our homework assignment. It's a super weird picture but I'll do my best to tell you all about it!The picture shows a bunch of different animals all mixed together into one crazy creature! At the very front, I see the head of a lion. The lion head has a big mane of hair around its face and a wide open mouth showing huge teeth. The teeth look really sharp, like they could bite through anything! The eyes are open wide too, with an intense staring look. Lions are supposed to be the "king of the jungle" animals, so having the head makes this mixed-up animal seem very powerful and fierce.Right behind the lion head, there is a long neck stretching out. But this isn't a normal animal neck - it's covered in bright green feathers just like a parrot! The feathers look smooth and sleek. Parrots are those really colorful birds that can mimic people's voices and say words and phrases. So maybe this weirdanimal can talk too? That would be hilarious if it could roar like a lion but also do parrot noises and jokes! The body section underneath the parrot neck is big and round, kind of like a bear's body. It's covered in thick brown fur. I bet that bear tummy would be pretty cuddly and warm to snuggle up with, as long as you avoided those sharp lion teeth up front! Bears are usually gentle giants unless you bother them or their cubs. But then, coming out of that bear body are four long legs - two in the front and two in the back. The front legs look like they belong to a lizard or reptile. They are green and scaly with little claws at the end. Lizards can regrow their tails if they get pulled off, which is pretty cool. The back legs, on the other hand, are bright yellow and look almost like bigchicken drumstick legs! Those would be perfect for running around quickly. Finally, at the very back of this mixed up animal is a cute little tail sticking out. The tail looks poofy and stripey, just like a raccoon tail! Raccoons are really smart and can open doors and trash cans to look for food scraps.Overall, this imaginary franken-creature is made from parts of the lion, parrot, bear, lizard, chicken, and raccoon. What an odd combination! I have no idea what kinds of sounds it wouldmake or how it would act. Maybe it would be a ferocious fighter like a lion, but also a silly jokester like a parrot? Or maybe a cuddly couch potato like a bear, but quick on its feet like a lizard and chicken? Who knows! The raccoon tail doesn't really seem to fit with the rest of it.I think whoever drew this picture must have had a really wacky imagination. They just tossed together all sorts of different animal body parts without any rhyme or reason. It doesn't make any logical sense at all, which is why it's so funny and entertaining to look at. If this goofy critter was real, I bet it would be pretty hilarious to watch and listen to!Anyway, that's my description of the mixed-up animal picture. Let me know if you need me to explain or add anything else. Drawing my own version would be a fun art project too. Thanks for reading my essay, talk to you later!。

考研英语看图作文范文**English Version**In the realm of postgraduate entrance examination, the English section often includes a picture composition task that challenges candidates to interpret a visual image and convey its underlying message in a coherent and insightful manner. This composition type requires a blend of observation skills, analytical thinking, and effective writing abilities. To approach this task effectively, it is essential to follow a structured approach. Firstly, the candidate should spend a few minutes examining the picture carefully. This examination should include noting down any visible details such as characters, objects, activities, and any changes or trends that are taking place. It is also crucial toidentify any captions or labels that might provide additional context.Next, the candidate should proceed to interpret the picture. This involves understanding the symbolic meanings behind the visual elements and how they might be related toreal-world scenarios or social issues. For instance, the picture might depict a scene of environmental degradation, technological advancement, or social transformation. The key is to connect the dots and identify the central theme or message that the picture is trying to convey.Once the interpretation is complete, the candidate should proceed to outline their essay. It is essential to have a clear structure that includes an introduction, a body paragraph, and a conclusion. The introduction should briefly introduce the picture and its overall message. The body paragraph should expand on the interpretation, discussing the various elements of the picture and how they relate to the central theme. The conclusion should sum up the essay, restating the main points and leaving a lasting impression on the reader. In writing the essay, it is important to maintain a formal tone and use appropriate vocabulary. The language should be clear, concise, and engaging. Avoid using colloquialisms or informal expressions. Additionally, it is advisable to use transition words and phrases to connect ideas and maintain a logical flow. Here is an example of a picture composition that might appear in a postgraduate entrance examination:**Picture Description:** The picture depicts a scene from a classroom where a student is seen sleeping while the teacher is delivering a lecture. In the background, other students are actively engaged in note-taking and listening attentively.**Sample Essay:***Introduction:* The picture presents a poignant scenario that is familiar to many of us – a student sleeping in class while the teacher delivers a lecture. This image raises questions about the student's lack of interest or engagement in the class, and the possible reasons behind it.*Body Paragraph:* The sleeping student stands out in stark contrast to his peers, who are actively taking notes and paying attention to the lecture. This difference in behavior could be attributed to several factors. Firstly, the student might be overwhelmed with the amount of information being presented, making it difficult for him to stay awake and engaged. Alternatively, he might beexperiencing fatigue due to a lack of sleep or excessive workload. Another possibility is that he might not find the subject matter interesting or relevant to his academic or career goals.Regardless of the reasons, the picture highlights an important issue – the need for effective teaching methods that can engage and retain the interest of all students. Teachers should strive to make their lectures interactive and engaging, using real-world examples and hands-on activities to keep students engaged. Additionally, they should encourage students to actively participate in class discussions and seek clarification when needed.*Conclusion:* In conclusion, the picture presents a critical issue that needs to be addressed by educators and students alike. By implementing effective teaching methods and encouraging active student participation, we can create a learning environment that is conducive to student engagement and academic success.**Chinese Version**在考研英语中,看图作文往往是考生需要面对的一大挑战。
1:Depicted by this cartoon is an ironic scene that couplet pasted by students mirrores their undesirable attitude toward college examinations. The first line reads “there would be no upgrade without cheating in examinations”, while the second line bears “what they prefer is less dignity than sound scores.” The horizontal scroll summarizes their idea: regardless of the virtue of honesty, they are determined to pass the exams by any means.例2:Emerging from this cartoon is an alarming scene that a bird, holding a gun and hiding out in the bush, is staring at the sky where human beings is soaring. Obviously, he is longing for a day when becomes a hunter shooting people for fun. Actually, what he imagines is what he was exposed to.例3:Under the amuzing appearence of the cartoon lies an alarming scenario: a man, perplexedly and confusedly, is walking back and forth, leaving cricles of footprints but wondering where to go. The caption is reminding him, as well as all of us, that what suffers those pessimistic guys is not so much adversities themselves as too many choices.例4:Have you ever been trapped in a dilemma? If so, you may feel the same sorrow as the a man in the cartoon: perplexedly and confusedly, he is walking back and forth, leaving cricles of footprints but wondering where to go. The caption is reminding him, as well as all of us, that what suffers those pessimistic guys is not so much adversities themselves as too many choices.例5:depicted by this cartoon is an ironic scenario, that siting in front of a patient, a doctor is explaining, “Out of the consideration of your safty, I rended you an overall treatment, although you just hurt your finger.” It is conspicious that the doctor is excusing himself for his excessive treatment. 1:it is accepted by most average people that no other groups can be more honest than college students. But is that the case anymore? Cases to criticise this improper view are within easy reach. From the point of college examinations alone, haven’t you ever seen some candidates deliving notes or making gestures during the exams? Or, haven’t you ever noticed that some of them take advantage of mobilphones toforward keys? Obviously, an increasing number of youngsters, either for fierce conpetetion or because of their own laziness, no longer cherish the virtue of honesty.例2:Conceived in this cartoon is a motto that no one can shrug off: “to take care of our environment is to tend ourselves and our descendants”.In other words, as natual resources are actually limited, we are supposed to exploit sensibly / reasonably for our long-term benefit. However, conducts / acts against this principle are prevailing. It is not unfamiliar that some folks shoot wild animals for fun, cook them for food, and sell them for profit. It is also not uncommon to see some guys over-mining with geographic disasters recurring. Therefore, the common sense should be born in by every mind that never sacrifices long term benefit for temporary satisfaction.例What does this cartoon convey? Obviously, it renders us with the notion that what we do with the nature is to be answerd for. Any examples? Haven’t you ever met some folks over-hunting for huge profit, with some species endangered? Haven’t you ever found some enterprises letting out polluted water, threatening the fishery industry and eco-balance along rivers, lakes and even oceans? Where have their insight gone? Where have their wisdom gone? Where have their senses of social responsibility gone? Aren’t they swallowed by their greediness?例This motto is born in every mind of us, “better trying than crying”Or, put another way, hesitation, or indecisiveness, is the largest barrier in one’s overall development / nothing else can be such a barrier as hesitation, or indecisiveness, in one’s overall development. Will there be any other cases more convincing than the following ones to illustrate this point? It is not unfamiliar that some students always ponder, after graduation, to hunt a job, to further his education, or to marry a big fish. It is also not uncommon that some white-colars, even if not satisfied with their current, endlessly hesitate, daring not step toware a new one. Indeed, they all should have the awareness that they should not be so pessimistic that count choices – largely opportunities – as predicaments.(1)The implied meaning of this cartoon can be summarized as a philosophic topic in our daily life: …….Conceived in this cartoon is a motto that no one can shrug off: …….Never eazily let go of the simple truth described in this cartoon: ……The simple truth underlying the cartoon had been narrated at least a hundred years before by our ancestors, “……”(2)Simply state it, …..Simply put it, …..In other words, ….That is, …..Or, ……(3)The following cases are familiar, convincing and within easy reach. To illustrate, …..To be specific, …..To name only a few, …….To exemplify it, ……..(4)Indeed, awareness should be cultivated among sb. that ……..Therefore, the common sense should be born in mind by every that ……To conclude, the conciousness / notion / idea / view should be brought home to all of us that …..【第三段】A: 风尚支持?长远看法(惠及当下与未来)(惠及自身与他人)(惠及我们与后代)(自己愿参与其中)As to attitude towards …, almost every of us cling to the idea that …is elevating to the overall development of the whole society.
