Others prefer to work for a small company. Which would you prefer? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice. No doubt, I choose to work for a small company because there are too many benefits that outnumber its disadvantages not to choose. But working for a large company has advantages no more than its disadvantages. The most important benefit of working for a small company is that I will have many chances to develop. In gerneral, a small company is a developing enterprise and it is not easy to absorb many excellent employees. If I enter this small company, I think that the boss will appreciate me and give me many opportunities to reveal my abilities. Only I let the job do well, I am sure that I will rise very rapidly. On contrary to this, a large company is already a high developed institutions. There are many prominent talent working for it. A good position will absorb hundreds of opponents. It will take me a lot of time and vigor to get this position. Maybe I have no chance to win this competition at all.Another benefit of working for a small company , which working for a large company almost cannot achieve, is that I can learn more skills in a small company than in a large company. As shown above, a small company is a developing enteprise. Thismeans that it have no a great deal of money to employ many persons . So, I can do all kinds of jobs at the same time. I think that this will be useful to compete in the society. But in a large company, maybe I only engage a monotonous job over a long period of time . I believe that this will be helpless to improve my capacity.Of course, choosing to work for a large company also has advantages to some extent. For example, it will afford handsome salary and will be not easy to fail in business competition. But from my own development, I still want to work in a small company. In addition, I believe that every large company originates from a small company. Maybe I will become an important person when the small company in which I work become a large company. Working at home using computers and telephone is better than workiing in the office.I fundamentally agree to work in the company's office other than work at home except for the case that I work for myself as a freelancer or home is actually the same place of the company.First of all, I argue that work should be separated from personal life because work is actually a formal and serious task for individual so that one has to be responsible for the job. However, if working at home, it is inevitably possible that I would be disturbed by some trivial things. For instance, being disturbed by a salesman that knocks the door or an unpredictable phone that I have to answer. All such interruption of the work would make my work in mess, and thus I cannot concentrate myself into my work. So due to these drawbacks of working at home, I prefer to stay in the office where the atmosphere of a great passion forwork will motivate me for a better job.In addition, I don't think working at home is somehow more convenient as someone defences that it can save us a lot of time on the bus. Yet I argue that it is merely the superficial phenomenon that it seems our time is saved, because in fact, our patterns of life and work is damaged. When we are at home , we do not have to think about the annoying work done in the office if work belongs to office. But when home becomes a work place, the situation is different. It may be more than 8 hours before I finish my work since I would unconsciously spend more time in working when my office is actually my home. And the breakfast and lunch are likely to be done as simple as possible, which leaves all in a mess at home.So I doubt the advantage that working at home brings to me and I shall be suffering from the irregular life pattern. On the other hand, office is ,in my view,an ideal place for work. We can operate and communicate face to face without phone or Internet that sometimes set a barrier between us. And although during the working hours, I would feel stressful, and continuously be conscientious in case the boss comes to trouble ,I would feel really released when I leave the office . It would be private time for me and home is where the hope is waiting. Therefore I prefer to work in the office for a more scientific and healthier pattern of life.

AHave you ever heardof a"talking kitchen"?A French Digital(数码的)Kitchen has been developed at Newcastle University in the UK.It teaches students how to cook French food and speak French at the sametime. For the first time, studentscan learn a languageby following cooking steps. The kitchen project was startedby ProfessorPaul Seedhouse. He becameinterested in the idea after he visited anotherkind of talking kitchen. He said,"The purpose(目的) of the French Digital Kitchen is to make learning a language more interesting and more educational."How doesthe kitchen work? There is a computer in the kitchen. With this computer, the users can first choose a French recipe(菜谱)that they want to ing information in the computer, the kitchen starts to guide the users how to make a French dish.If you follow the instructions on the computer,it moves on to the next.If you go wrong, the program goes back and repeats(重复)the instruction. At any time, the users canalso askthe kitchen to repeatthe recipe or any information. The new kitchen can be used in schools, universities and even people's homes, and people can buy this new kitchen at the end of2012.The researcherswill also be developing the EuropeanDigital Kitchen for the next threeyears.1.The French Digital Kitchen.A.is a"talking kitchen"B.teachesstudentsEnglishC.wasdevelopedin FranceD.cooksall food for people2.From Paragraph(段落)Two,we know.A.how the kitchen worksB.wherethe kitchen can be usedC.when the kitchen can be boughtD.why the kitchen project was started3.If the usersdon't follow the instruction on the computer, the kitchen.A.choosesanotherrecipeB.goeson to the next stepC.stopsworking at onceD.gives the sameinstruction again4.The passageis written mainly to.A.show you how computersworkB.introduce a FrenchDigital KitchenC.teachyou how to cook French foodD.tell you the importance of languagelearningBThe biggest secret about inventing is that anybody can do it!Perhapsthis sounds crazy, but it's true.Maybe you have the wrong idea about inventing,so read on to discover the truth.Wrong idea No.1:An invention has to be something completely new.Inventing meanscreating something"new",but the idea could come from something that already exists(存在).The Wright brothers, for example, got the idea for building a "flying machine"from watching birds.Wrong idea No.2:Inventors are born, not made. There are a lot of factors(因素)that make invention possible.Take Mazart, for example. He was born with a talent for musical composition. But other factors were also important for his creativity. His father was a music teacher, and Mozart practiced for hours every day, from the time he was four years old.ThomasEdison said that being an inventor was"99%hard work and1%inspiration"!Very successful creators don't give up when they get something wrong. As one inventor said,"A failure is theright answerto the wrong question."Wrong idea No.3:Inventors are always old people.Don't believe that you can't invent something when you are young. Here are two examples of young inventors:Louis Braille went blind when he was a child. When he was fifteen,he invented a systemof reading and writing for blind people that is still used in mostcountries today. As a young man,George Nissen was watching some artists performing in a show. He watched how they fell into the safety net and then jumped back up again. This gave him an idea, and he invented the trampoline(蹦床).5.got the idea for building a"flying machine"from watching birds.A.MazartB.GeorgeNissenC.Louis BrailleD.The Wright brothers6.The underlined word"talent"probably means.A.态度B.品质C.天赋D.能量7.Which of the following is the writer's opinion?A.Anybody can do inventing.B.Inventors are born, not made.C.Inventors are always old people.D.An invention hasto be something completely new.8.The best title for the passage would be.A.How to Perform in a ShowB.Be a ComposerC.How to Help Blind PeopleD.Be an InventorCLast year,a special kind of glove came out.It was invented to help blind people to learn Braille, which is a special systemfor the blind to readby touching.Shaking motors (震动马达)are put on eachfinger of the glove. They can make different soundsto tell a user which letter he is touching.Recently, two British college students have invented anotherspecial glove for the blind. It can make the userfeel small and quick movements. An ultrasonic sensor(超声波传感器)with a battery is put on the back of the glove. When the user wearing the glove is close to an object(物体),ultrasonic waves(超声波) from the glove are sent out(发出).As soon asthey hit the object in front, the waves will return to the glove. Then the waves causethe glove to shake. And the ultrasonic sensor makesdifferent kinds of sounds. The soundsmake the user know how far he is from the object. In the college invention competition, the two studentsgot first prize and won1,540 pounds. One of the designerssaid,"Now the ultrasonic sensoron the glove is quite large. We're going to usethe money to develop a smaller andlighter ultrasonic sensor."9.The underlined word"Braille"in the passage means""in Chinese.A.盲文B.口语C.手语10.The glove with an ultrasonic sensor.A.canmake only one kind of soundB.canmake the userfeel small andquick movementsC.wasdesignedby two American college students11.Picture shows how the glove with an ultrasonic sensorworks according to the passage.。
