It was truly an amazing summer vacation.篇2My Favorite English LessonMy name is Emma and I'm in 3rd grade. One of my favorite subjects in school is English class. I really enjoy learning new words and getting better at speaking, reading, and writing in English. Our latest unit in the English textbook was all about animals and nature. It was so much fun!The first lesson was introducing some animal vocabulary words. We learned names like elephant, giraffe, monkey, lion, and zebra. The pictures in the book were really colorful and helped me remember what each animal looked like. My favorite was probably the lion because it looks so strong and brave. We also learned some words for animal homes like nest, den, and hive. I didn't know what a hive was before, but now I know it's where bees live and make their honey.After learning the new vocabulary, we practiced saying the words out loud. My teacher asked each student to pick an animal word, make the sound that animal makes, and have the rest of the class guess which animal it was. It was really funny when Tommy tried to make an elephant noise! He sounded more like a truck engine than an elephant. Elephants and zebras need the wide open spaces of the grasslands, while sloths and toucans are perfectly suited for life in the rainforest canopy.After the video, we got to make our own diorama projects depicting an animal habitat. I chose to make a savanna scene with a lion, some antelopes, and an acacia tree. I covered a shoebox with brown construction paper for the ground, made the tree out of a branch from my backyard, and used plastic animal figures I already had. My mom helped me use cotton balls to make a few tufts of grass too. When it was all assembled, I was so proud of my little savanna diorama!On the very last day of the unit, my teacher had us present our diorama projects to the class. We got to go up and describe the habitat we made using the vocabulary and sentences we hadlearned. I was a little nervous, but I practiced my lines at home a few times with my mom and dad. When it was my turn, I held up my diorama and said "This is a savanna habitat. The lion lives in the savanna. The antelopes live in the savanna too. I can't wait to go back again soon!篇5My Favorite Season: Spring!Spring is my absolute favorite season of the whole year! Everything seems to come alive again after the cold, dreary winter. The weather gets warmer, trees start budding with new leaves, and beautiful flowers begin to bloom everywhere you look. It's such a happy, colorful time!One of the best parts of spring is all the fun outdoor activities you can do again after being cooped up inside formonths. My friends and I love going to the park and playing on the swings, slides, and jungle gyms. We run around chasing each other, kick balls, and do cartwheels on the grass. Sometimes we even have picnics and eat our lunch outside on the warm, sunny days.Another great spring activity is flying kites! There always seem to be just the right breezy conditions to get kites soaring up high in the blue skies. My dad helps me get my kite untangled and up in the air. It's so exciting watching it catch the wind and zoom up towards the clouds. I run along trying to keep it airborne for as long as possible until it inevitably crashes back down to earth.Springtime also means it's time for lots of fun holidays and celebrations! Of course, there's Easter with all its cute bunnies, chicks, and delicious candy. My brother and I can hardly contain our excitement for the big Easter egg hunt every year. We frantically search high and low, scooping up as many plastic eggs stuffed with chocolates and jellybeans as we can find hidden around the yard and house.A few weeks after Easter, we get to celebrate my mom's favorite spring holiday - Mother's Day! My siblings and I always make her homemade cards and gifts like potholders or pictureframes. We help my dad make mom a special breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and her favorite fruit.
