奄奄一息的人们和动物躺在 绘热无情的太阳底下 松树彷佛就要起火 杜鹃高歌著 加入斑鸠和金翅雀的行列中 微风轻拂 但很快地大风卷起 若有风雨欲来之势 牧羊人被突如其来的狂风惊吓 担心著他的羊群以及自己的命运 他开始忙著做风雨前的准备不安的心在灰 暗的天色下 蚊蝇的嗡嗡作响下显得更加孤立无援 终於 他担心的事发生了 雷电交加的狂风暴雨及冰雹 阻挠了他回家的路
《四季》是维瓦尔第的总标题为《和 谐与创意的试验》12首协奏曲（作品第八 号）中的前4首。1725年出版于阿姆斯特丹， 题献给匈牙利伯爵莫尔钦。创作年代不详， 大概要早于1725年。《四季》不仅在每一 首前附以十四行诗，而且音乐的描述也都 具有新意。
十四行诗写得并不惊人（可能是 作曲家本人写的），但致力于自然 界的描写，别具风格。音乐所描绘 的细节认真地与诗句相对应，我们 可以想象维瓦尔第在创作时是严肃 认真的，大概也希望听者能仔细领 略“标题”的具体内容。
除作有大量由一把小提琴及乐队来演奏的小提 琴协奏曲外，尚作有不少用两至四把小提琴或木管 乐器来演奏的协奏曲和实为管弦乐重奏曲的大曲等， 作品以富于民间色彩和生活气息而著称。

四部作品均采用乐章协奏曲形式的正宗标题音乐。

维瓦尔第在总奏与主奏交替形成的复奏形式上，巧妙地配以标题。

在维瓦尔第之前，还没有人以标题音乐的方式谱写过协奏曲。

由于维瓦尔第的《四季》属于标题音乐，所以从形式上看，自然较其他协奏曲显得自由而且不平衡，但这样反而更能表现出巴洛克时期的特点及魅力。

这四部作品画意盎然，激发出人们对巴洛克时代音乐的浓厚兴趣。

《四季》由四首三乐章的协奏曲构筑而成，分别描绘春、夏、秋、冬四个季节。
