English homework: Translation errors of Shanxi Tourist attractions 112020205002 刘岳武1.晋祠太原的“晋祠”有四个译名：Jinci、Jnci Temple、Jin Memorial Temple、Jinci Memorial Temple.据《史记晋世家》的记载，周武王之子成王姬诵封同弟叔虞于唐，称唐叔虞。
叔虞的儿子焱，因境内有晋水，改国号为晋。
后人为了奉祀叔虞，在晋水源头建立了祠宇，称唐叔虞祠，也叫做晋祠。
根据晋祠名号的由来，笔者更倾向于“Jin Memorial Temple"这种译法，因为汉字的“祠”与英文中对应的单词是“Memorial Temple”而不是“Temple”，“晋”是指国号，用来修饰“祠”的，所以“Jinci Temple”和“Jin Memorial Temple”这种译法有重复之意，“Jinci”这种完全音译的方法，对外国人来说毫无意义。
因此，最准确易懂的译名应该是“Jin Memorial Temple”。
2.大同的华严寺大同的华严寺就有两个译名：Huayan Temple和Huayan Monastery。
“华严寺”是依据佛教的七大宗之一——华严宗的经典《华严经》而修建的，故名“华严寺”。
那么究竟这里应该译作“Monastery”还是“Temple”呢？“Monastery”指僧侣居住的修道院，“Temple”是指寺庙、神殿。
华严寺内至今仍有大量僧侣居住，所以可以翻译为“Huayan Monastery”，但华严寺内也是佛家寺院，翻译成“Huayan Temple”也是对的。
3.晋祠的圣母殿在晋祠圣母殿的导游词中发现，此处的“圣母殿”被翻译成“The Hall of Saint Mother”，saint有神圣之意，“mother”在西方人看来专门指的是圣母玛利亚，这会让外国人感到一头雾水。
