Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Our society today is so busy and crowded that people do not need to be polite to each other.People today enjoy great material wealth due to hardwork, but some complain that people today are less polite than they used to be. Extremists argue that people do not need to have the conventional social norms, such as saying hello to other people, because those manners are a waste of time. However, I think politeness isimportant in many aspects of modern life.First, in dealing relationships with family and friend, people need to be polite and considerate. Many young people today claim that they are too busy to call their parents and contact their friends. Once, I refused to spend time talking with parents, using the excuse that I had too much work. The consequence was that my mother got angry and hung up the phone. Our relationship was strained, but I soon realized my rudeness and apologized to my mother. My mother forgave me because I showed my respect and concern for her. This situation is also true for friends. Politeness is a bond in relationships with close family members and friends.Second, in a working environment, one needs to obey the basic social norms of courtesy for interpersonal communication. Consider a rude colleague who is always short and unpleasant with his coworkers. Not many people are willing to work with him, because he does not show any basic skills or ability to deal with people. On the contrary, a coworker who smiles and acts respectfully towards others will certainly be more popular and easier to work with. Obviously, politeness will never be outdated, no matter how busy the world becomes.Third, in the political realm and entertainment industry, celebrities need to show a gracious and friendly manner in order to maintain a positive image. All politicians have a hectic agenda. But when they are giving a speech to the public, politicians need to dress appropriately and speak in a certain way. Patience when answering questions is also a must. Similarly, a famous movie star or a pop singer needs to show a friendly attitude towards any crazy fan. Otherwise, the printingmedia will make a big deal out of his/her unappreciative manner towards fans.In conclusion, though the world today drives people to work like machines, politeness is a prerequisite for people to have a satisfying home life and a fulfillingcareer.。

Ironically,if their children did not follow the instructions, the children would be regarded as disobedient or allegedly rebellious. In fact,it isparents rather than their children that virtually disobey common senses.addition,,s ome parents are qualified as good teachers, but not all of In additionthem are the best ones. When children are in the preliminary school,it is not surprising that parents are capable of teaching their children almost every subject even better than professional teachers in the school. But the situation will not last long.We live in a world where knowledge is accumulated by multiplying and at the same time becomes more and more specialized. Therefore,to be a professional in a certain field today takes much longer time than ever before. No parent is able to be professional in all fields, though they might be experts in one or more fields.Wise parents often release rather than charge their children as early as possible. They are aware of the possibility outside the family.may,,n everthelessevertheless,,help their children much more than do good Parents mayteachers. Most parts of children education are virtually beyond teachers'reaches. It is parents that supplement.Psychology studies have shown us that parents'love sometimes has astonishingly magic power to their children.Albert Einstein's mother and Forest GumGump p's mother are both good examples. On the other hand, parents might dotheir children harm more than do bad teachers as well. The natures of those children whose parents have divorced are often severely distorted. In a word,it is rather superficial to simply say that parents are the best teachers.2.How do movies or television influence people's behavior?Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer. The impact that modern mass media such as movies or televisions has had on our daily life, and society in general,is undeniable.N o doubt it will become even greater as the scope of mass media continues to grow, and as the relevant technologies become more and more sophisticated, and so fascinating that virtually nobody will be able to escape.A lready,it can be seen how western movies are exercising influence on our youth generation:they grow long-hair regardless of their sex, commonly part of which are dyed in gold;they wear jeans in each and every season, usually knees of which are deliberately tattered;pendants;;and girls are keen on boys are fond of earrings or other odd pendantsMarlboro and weird coarse languages.ing T he major means that m ass media influence the public is by creatcreating topics of discussion in the society.Mass media offers people(theconsumers)issues to talk and think about.Titanic had brought a worldwide uproar by its extolling and of fascinating immortal love; Prime Color and Wag the dog met the national debate on right and duty of the president of the United States.A ntiwar movies such as Tears of the Sun and All Quiet On The Western Front among numerous others have been raising the question that is any war really to upholdsacrifices es to his justice or is it really worthy that an individual makes sacrific country and at the same time ignores his own family or his personal values?Mass media also shapes our understanding of what is important and what is not important(to know). The"important"issues are to be found on the first pages of the newspaper(/in the beginning of a television program). The"not important"stories are the ones that are not being told at all. The"not very important"stories are probably very short and hidden in the last pages.I n fact censorshipcensorships s present all mass media including its distributing indicates such as the I nternet.B y prearranging public issue,t he mass media makes decisions for us.E ven though there are critical thinking individuals in any society, they are definite minority;the public in whole in deed lack skills of critical thinking, and therefore they are often led by the media.media,,by offering topics and affecting the ways in conclusion,,mass mediaIn conclusionissues””,has a strong influence on our which we discuss“the important issuesperception of the truth,of the world or of the structure of our society, we have to admit that it has a role in our lives as a source of information, experiences, entertainment, amusement and relaxation.3.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?Advertising can tell you a lot about a e specific reasons and examples to support your answer.Advertising is an all powerful tool in today's world where communication means are varied and accessible by all,and reaching the target audience with the right message makes all the difference. Advertising is a medium through which, people can be educated about a particular issue at hand.Advertising can be about a new product,a new business opportunity or in this case about a country.I strongly agree with the statement that advertising can inform, educate and can tell a lot about the country.I will support my argument through examples and reasoning given below.Advertising might be of many forms:Printed and published information, through broadcast media(radio and television)and now the mostimportant emerging means of all;that of the Internet. All these forms of advertising have their own advantages and disadvantages. Advertising is generally responsible for the first impressions of a country in people's minds. In this case, what they hear about a particular country for the first time through any means of advertising, will result in it being a true picture of a country for that person/ country.T h is is thus, governments of some developed countries have taken this issue of projecting the right image of their country through advertising very seriously. This is proven by the fact that their tourism numbers and advantages of living and working in their country are most highlighted than other countries. This is nonetheless important in today's competitive global environment where countries are competing against each other to attract new investments and business in their country. All this directly effects the economic and development scene of the country as good or bad advertising can directly result in the country's growth.example,,in my country India, the Information technology ministry For examplehas spent substantial finances and efforts to highlight India's advantage as a global source for information technology workers. This in fact hasresulted in growth in the Gross Domestic Product of our country there by raising the standard of people living in this country and giving a nascent industry a chance to grow in a free capital environment. This couldn't have been achieved without concentrated advertising of our advantages and economic benefits of developing software in India. We can safely draw the conclusion that Advertising can not only tell a lot about a country but can also result in bring growth to the economy and prosperity to its people.Adding to that,I would like every government of the world taking efforts to promote the best their county has to give to the world, here by promoting peace and prosperity among all nations.。
