孙膑忍受被剜去膝盖骨的酷刑之苦,用才智感动了齐使,并在他的帮助下回到齐国。
孙膑隐居在田忌幕下时就表现出突出的军事才能,后于“田忌赛马”后被田忌推荐给齐威王,成为齐国的军师。
后来,魏国攻打赵国。
赵国危急,向齐国请求救援。
齐威王想任命孙膑为将,孙膑婉言推辞说:“一个受过刑的人不能为将。
”于是任命田忌为大将,任命孙膑做军师,让他在有帷幕的车上坐着出谋策划。
在这场战役中,孙膑运用非凡的才智屡出妙计,最终使得魏军大败,创造了中国战争史上“围赵救魏”的光辉战例。
后来孙膑又在魏国和赵国联合攻打韩国之时与庞涓斗智,使庞涓死于万箭中。
