matter的用法

一、matter作可数名词，意为\"事情；问题；情况\"。作不可数名词，意为\"物质；材料；东西\"。例如：

Let's leave that for the moment. We have more important matters to think about.

让我们先把那事搁一边吧。我们还有更重要的事情需要考虑呢。

The universe is made up of matter. 宇宙是由物质组成的。

I have nothing to do now. Could you offer me some reading matter?

我现在无事可做。你能给我点儿可读的东西吗？

二、matter作动词，意为\"有关系；要紧\"。通常用于否定句和疑问句，句中常常含有what, who, where, if等词，一般以it作主语。例如：

It doesn't matter if I miss the train, because there's another later.

我要是误了这趟火车也不要紧，因为晚些时候还有一趟车呢。

Does it matter a great deal to her whether they come or not？

他们是否来，这与她有很大关系吗？

三、由matter构成的常用短语。

1. no matter

①不要紧；无关紧要。此短语可单独用，也可接that, whether引导的从句。例如：

-I can't repair the mobile phone.

我不会修手机。

-No matter. I'll do it myself.

没关系。我自己来。

There is no matter whether he has worked abroad.

他有没有在国外工作过都没关系。

“ No matter+ 疑问词”与“疑问词＋ ever ”用法透析

1. “ No matter ＋疑问词”意为“无论……”、“不论……”，用来引导让步状语从句。如： no matter who / whom ， no

matter what ， no matter which ， no matter how 等。如：

You are always welcome no matter where you are.

无论在何地，您总是会受到欢迎的。

No matter what may happen， they’ve decided to leave this

evening.

不管发生什么事，他们已决定今晚离开。

2. “疑问词＋ ever ”相当于“ no matter + 疑问词”， ever

本是一个加强语气的词，加在疑问词后面作后缀，不仅使疑问词的语气加强，而且变为具有让步意义的一个复合词，可用于引导让步状语从句。例如：

Whoever breaks the law， he should be punished.

无论谁违反法律，都应该受到惩罚。

Whatever you do， you must do it well.

matter的短语用法

1. It doesn't matter: 表示某事没有关系或不重要

例如：It doesn't matter what you wear to the party. 晚会上你穿什么无所谓。

2. No matter: 无论

例如：No matter what happens, I will always support you. 无论发生什么，我都会永远支持你。

3. Matter of fact: 事实

例如：The matter of fact is that we need more funding. 事实是我们需要更多的资金。

4. A matter of time: 时间问题

例如：Getting a promotion is just a matter of time for him. 对他来说，晋升只是时间问题。

5. Make no matter: 不要紧

no matter 的用法

no matter作“无论”、“不管”解，用以引导表示让步的状语从句，常用在下列句型中： 句型中的No matter what (who/when etc.)...分别表示“无论何事”、“无论何人”、“无论何时”等，这个从句可以置主句之前，也可以置主句之后。

由no matter + what等引导的让步状语从句。No matter后面接关系代词或关系副词引导状语从句在句中作让步状语。

No matter之后可用what以外的关系代词或关系副词。例如：
